To all:

For many in the Modern Bible Movement, if the words are close enough it's good enough for them. If this was not the case, then there would be a lot more infighting within the Modern Bible movement. Unless you are TR/KJV-only or KJV-only, generally, most do not get up in arms whenever you quote a translation that is NIV, ESV, etc.; They treat it as God's word in theological discussions online and in person. But they do not all say the same thing and this is confusion. You would not test fly a plane that is built on conflicting schematics, and so why do so with a book that deals with your very soul?

It's madness.
....
Sorry, I gotta say it. You start threads in which you endlessly attack people and their "modern Bibles"; you accuse them of being part of a "movement" designed to destroy the KJV; you nitpick every little thing and say it's a satanic conspiracy; and on and on and on. You put on an air of superiority with all your debates and PDFs like we're all stupid or something. Then you cry because people have the gall to stand up for themselves. Defending your beliefs is one thing; but you come on here to intentionally knock down anyone you see as a threat. If you don't like being attacked, stop attacking.

I am truly sorry to hear that you have experienced such animosity. I hope I never come across that way in any of my posts. If I do, I assure you it is unintentional.
Thank you so much for being kind. That means a lot.
I believe we can agree to disagree on things in love and respect.

May the Lord Jesus bless you.

Sorry, I gotta say it. You start threads in which you endlessly attack people and their "modern Bibles";
Why do we start a thread on any Bible topic on a forum? It's to take a stand for what we believe is correct according to God's Word.
We both cannot be correct. Also, I prefer to attack more the wrong position or false belief then individuals.
I really strive to never make it personal.
Granted, it is not wrong to call out heretics like Catholics, Unitarians, liberals, and a Mormon which have worked on the Critical Text.

you accuse them of being part of a "movement" designed to destroy the KJV;
It's true. Unless the life I lived was an illusion and I did not experience Modern Bible believers attacking me and others for believing the KJV is God's Word without error. These kinds of things actually have happened many times.

Either you are simply ignorant of such things, or you are trying to gaslight us into believing that they do not happen.

Many (though not all) who are part of the Modern Bible Movement are out to destroy your faith in the KJV in some way. Some are more subtle about it. Others are more outspoken.

Sound familiar? In the Modern Bible Movement, you got folks doubting or questioning passages that were once believed like the longer ending of Mark, or the story of the woman caught in the act of adultery, etc..

You put on an air of superiority with all your debates and PDFs like we're all stupid or something.
I am nothing and Christ is everything. Any correction on my end is my standing up for what I believe is the true and right.
Truth can sometimes not always be pleasant to hear. What could more ridiculous to the ears of many today to think that God would even consider to preserve His words in 1600s English. The idea is unfathomable for many. Yet, Scripture says, God has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise.

The attacks I was referring to happened a long long ago for my standing up for the KJV. Today, folks would only embarrass themselves if they made any such attempts today. I know too much now. Their gaslighting tactics in attacking Erasmus, King James, etc. will not work. If they are just hate mongers and refuse to listen, I would pray for them and move on (placing them eventually on ignore).

If Lord Jesus walked the earth today, in an English speaking, do you seriously believe that He would speak Elizabethan English? The apostle Paul said that He adapted his approach to people depending on whether they were Jew or gentile. (1 Corinthians 9:22) Oh, and it was before the KJV was released.

I was born again 54 years ago. I've never used the King James. I was born in the 20th century, not the 17th. I speak English, not Elizabethan. I don't know of too many more pointless pursuits than the promotion of the KJV as somehow the only version approved of by God.

There were heresies flying around long before modern versions were released. Jehovah's Witnesses used the KJV. It did not prevent their false doctrines. The 19th century gave us the Mormons, Christadelphians, Christian Scientism, Seventh Day Adventists and the Unitarians.

The KJV did not prevent those cults arising. It's not modern translations that lead to error, it's people who twist God's word to make it say what they want it to say or deny the authority of God's word in the first place.

No, I do not believe Jesus is currently speaking 1600s English in Heaven. Neither do I believe He spoke English during His earthly ministry. However, I do believe God providentially preserved His words for English-speaking people in the King James Bible.

In other words, the written Word is obviously different from the Living Word.

The apostle Paul said that He adapted his approach to people depending on whether they were Jew or gentile. (1 Corinthians 9:22) Oh, and it was before the KJV was released.
I think you may be reading more into 1 Corinthians 9:22 than the passage actually says.

Paul's point is that he adapted his approach to different people in order to reach them with the gospel. The passage is not discussing Bible translation philosophy, nor does it teach that every word spoken by Jesus or Paul was always expressed in the most current, simple, or immediately understandable language possible.

In fact, there are several examples that show otherwise.

Jesus frequently spoke in parables, and many people did not understand Him (Matthew 13:10-13). The disciples themselves often misunderstood His sayings, including His statements about the leaven of the Pharisees, His death and resurrection, and the temple being raised in three days.

On the cross, Jesus spoke, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" Yet some of the people standing there misunderstood Him and thought He was calling for Elias (Matthew 27:46-47). If your argument is that Jesus would always speak in the way most immediately understood by every listener, that example seems difficult to explain.

Likewise, Peter said that Paul wrote "some things hard to be understood" (2 Peter 3:16). So even inspired apostolic teaching was not always instantly clear to everyone.

It does not matter how long you were a believer when it comes to this topic. Unless you looked at both Bible lines (the TR/KJV vs the Critical Text/Modern Bibles) with an open mind and in being fair with the facts or the truth, you are never going to understand any of the things that I say here.

There were heresies flying around long before modern versions were released.
Your not getting it. The heresies are found in your Modern Bibles.

Jehovah's Witnesses used the KJV. It did not prevent their false doctrines.
Adam heard directly from God and yet he disobeyed.
My point is that while God's true words can be disobeyed by man, one is most certainly going to either belief something false or disobey the Lord in some way if their Modern Bibles has such false corruptions leading them down path.

Are you aware that Modern Bibles tell you to marry your rapist?
Atheists love to bring this little fact up.
Yet, the KJV does not have this problem.

The 19th century gave us the Mormons, Christadelphians, Christian Scientism, Seventh Day Adventists and the Unitarians.
Right, and it was the rise of the 1881 Westcott and Hort text, as well.
But my point that you are not understanding in this thread is that Unitarians, Catholics working on behalf of the Vatican, liberals, rainbow people, and a Mormon all worked on your critical texts. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if a theology of a people is bad, then that bad theology can rub off on their work in translations or in its critical texts. One needs to be born again to even understand God's word. Do you think these heretics are qualified to even handle God's words?

The KJV did not prevent those cults arising. It's not modern translations that lead to error, it's people who twist God's word to make it say what they want it to say or deny the authority of God's word in the first place.
It goes beyond even the later corruptions that you are not even aware of. The two main manuscripts (Vaticanus and Sinaiticus) that your Critical Text uses is corrupt. For instance, both Vaticanus and Sinaiticus depict Jesus being pierced by a spear before His death on the cross (See Matthew 27:49-50), a reading that never appears in any English translation. In Hebrews 1:3, Vaticanus omits the crucial phrase “by himself,” erasing the only New Testament reference to Christ personally purging our sins. Next to this verse in Vaticanus is a marginal note that reads, ἀμαθέστατε καὶ κακέ, ἄφες τὸν παλαιόν, μὴ μεταποίει (“Fool and knave, can’t you leave the old reading alone and not alter it!”), revealing that even scribes recognized and objected to the textual corruption in progress. Moreover, Vaticanus and Sinaiticus disagree with each other in roughly three thousand places within the Gospels alone, which is hardly a mark of trustworthy or reliable witnesses.

Also, if you paid attention to the title of the thread I created, my whole point was to encourage my fellow KJV-English-only brethren to look to the original languages. I believe they are necessary. So obviously, I am not advocating for the KJV English alone.

I view the KJV as an English translation of the original languages. Yes, I believe the KJV is without error, but I also believe that the original languages can convey deeper layers of meaning that are not always fully expressed in the English of the King James Bible.

You put on an air of superiority with all your debates and PDFs like we're all stupid or something.
First, I believe I am nothing and Christ is everything. Any good, wisdom, or knowledge I have is only by the grace of God and for His glory.

Second, I cannot force someone else to know or understand what I have learned over many years of study. If I were defending against the false belief of a flat earth, some flat earthers might accuse me of acting superior simply because I strongly disagreed with their position. From their perspective, confidence in what I believe to be true could be mistaken for arrogance.

Third, it is not as though we can mind-meld and instantly share understanding. In order to see where I am coming from, or to arrive at the same conclusions, I believe a person must first accept by faith God’s promises that His words are pure and that He would preserve them forever (Psalm 12:6-7). Then they should ask God to give them understanding by His Spirit and conduct an honest, unbiased investigation into the evidence surrounding the Textus Receptus and the King James Bible as God’s preserved words for today (instead of looking at this topic through the glasses of critical text advocates or Modern scholars).

Over the years, I have compiled 177 reasons for my position, and I am sure that number could grow even higher. Many of those reasons involve what I believe are significant doctrinal changes found in modern Bible versions. What I am trying to say is that if you unbiasedly looked into the differences between the KJV and modern Bible versions, you would see major doctrinal concerns in the modern versions on a massive scale. However, when people are unwilling to acknowledge these changes, or they twist the plain meaning of words in order to defend them, it can be frustrating to have these conversations.

On top of that, some modern Bible scholars and proponents, though certainly not all, continue to repeat historical claims about Erasmus, King James, and other subjects that I believe are inaccurate. That only adds to the difficulty of these discussions.

In other words, defending the TR/KJV against its critics sometimes reminds me of this cartoon below. One person keeps making a straightforward point, while the other person continually redirects the discussion, redefines terms, or focuses on side issues rather than dealing with the main argument itself. Whether others agree with my conclusions or not, it can be frustrating when the central point is never actually addressed and the conversation keeps getting pulled in a different direction.

I hope this helps you to see things from my perspective.

In any event, may the Lord Jesus bless you and everyone here (even if we disagree on this topic).

Sincerely,

~ Bible Highlighter.

You say "raptor" was a typo, so what did you mean to put? "Rapture" perhaps? (But I don't see how that would fit.

As for 128, what book is it put in? You says it's "like 4 fold." Well, 128 is 4 times 4 times 4 times 2. But what has all that got to do with the Holy Spirit being "7 Fold in jesus"?

I have never tried "sgaring civer all of the Lord," as far as I know, but as I have no idea what "sgaring civer" means, I may have done.

I left the raptor thing because the spirit in lol so as I went back then looked it up myself there reason i left . Let'sssy it a strong hold "sharing cover" what hard ti figure if 7 fold id 128 fold a shert of paper 7 mimes count the squares if you can fild a 8th time i hate to get caught with you in a dark alley lol

So you know i have text it out proper but some thing changes . lots of times
I think i talk to much and he wants people to figure it out on their own

I am defending the King James Bible. I do not believe the standardized KJV (PCE) (circa 1900) contains any errors. I believe that defending the KJV is best done by also consulting the original languages (at whatever skill level a person has if they have access to such study tools).

This is a disclaimer that is a part of my Powerpoint slide so that there is no confusion by anyone:

Errors? What do you mean exactly by "errors" lol?

Anyhoo, knowledge of the original Greek is absolutely CRUCIAL, no doubt about it.

Jhn 1:12 - But as many as received G2983 him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Grammatical Parsing of Lambano in John 1:12
In John 1:12 ("But as many as received him..."), the Greek verb translated as "received" is ἔλαβον (elabon), which is the standard past-tense form of the root verb λαμβάνω (lambano).
Its full morphological breakdown is:
* Lexeme: λαμβάνω (lambano)
* Tense: Aorist (specifically, 2nd Aorist)
* Voice: Active
* Mood: Indicative
* Person/Number: 3rd Person Plural (they)
Significance of the Aorist Tense
The aorist tense in Greek describes an action viewed as a single, complete event, without regard for duration, repetition, or ongoing progress.
* It presents the act of receiving Christ as a definitive, punctiliar choice or a completed historical turning point that took place at a specific moment in time, rather than a slow, continuous process.
* The active voice indicates that the subjects ("as many as") performed the action themselves—they actively reached out and made the personal decision to receive Him.
Full Lexical Definition of Lambano
According to standard lexicons (such as BDAG and Thayer's), λαμβάνω (lambano) carries a broad range of literal and figurative meanings:
* To take or lay hold of: To grasp an object, seize, or capture.
* To receive what is offered: To accept something given, not refusing or rejecting it.
* To welcome or admit: To take someone into one's home, fellowship, or life.
Nuance in John 1:12:
While English translations use "received," lambano is an active word. It contrasts sharply with passive acceptance; it implies taking hold of, welcoming, and making something your own. John immediately defines this exact act of lambano in the parallel phrase that follows: "even to them that believe on his name".

"even to them that BELIEVE on his name".

So if you want to emphasize that Greek πιστεύω is a verb expressing the act of believing/trusting, “faithing” can make that point pedagogically:

τοῖς πιστεύουσιν = “to the faithing ones”

πιστεύουσιν is not “faith” as a static noun; it is an active verbal form. And because it is present active participle, “those believing,” “the believing ones,” or, for emphasis, “the ones actively exercising faith” conveys the morphology better than simply saying “believers.”

Jhn 1:12 - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe G4100 on his name:
