Dream Interpretation

Does anybody here seek/attempt to unravel the underlying message in their dreams? Do you have any sources that have helped you do so?

I've had a couple of dreams that are plaguing me lately, and because of the walls I've put up over the past year, I'm trying to dissect and discern what they're trying to tell me. I don't doubt that God can speak to us in our dreams, which is just one more reason for me to attempt to learn what the message is.

Thoughts? Comments? (No, I am not going to publicly reveal the dream here. Maybe in a PM if you think you can help).

From a spiritual sense i don't put much stock in dreams. Yes, i believe God can use dreams, but i would be inclined to believe that it would be something God would cause to stick out to us. My experiences don't show it to be a common method. I've never felt God spoke to me through any dreams, and i can dream a lot.
Even from the worldly view little is truly known about dreaming. There is plenty of speculation, though the majority of what you hear is from a new age religion point of view. There is so little concrete knowledge about dreaming that i'm not willing to put much stock in paying much attention to them.

God does speak in dreams. He is speaking more by dreams than ever. And visions also.

And I have had several dreams inerpreted.

It is a common method for today, as I am proof.

I know by experience that Spiritual dreams and visions do happen; but I am not about to lead anyone into thinking that visions and spiritual dreams are common. Whether there are many or a few, either way they are anything but common. It is a necessary thing to be cautious. There were several TV 'saints' who continuously spoke of end time and the sign of the beast and signs of all types. They bilked millions of dollars out of people who seemed to be starved for drama, or some spiritual experience that seems real to them. My post is in no way shape or form in disagreement with this thread because I know these things do happen. I am urging caution for those who are curious. Trust your relationship with Jesus more than you trust anything else.

There are many things Satan has set up to deter people from the Truth, even lies.

But, because there are lies, doesn't mean the truth has changed. In fact, many are afraid to speak the truth because of the barrier of lies they have to get through.

In fact, that is the main reason Jesus was killed. Nevertheless, he had to speak the truth.

It is true we shouldn't trust in dreams, but in Christ. But they are common among the saints for these days. I do say among the saints.

By common I mean natural, not that they happen often.

Yes, amen, I understand that it was necessary, and so, you completed it. I love how that works.

I think about how things are, ''tempered'' together. This is how the body ought to operate. Ministry is this, and of the body.

The Lord has blessed you VERY much.

I'll be frank (and you be Julius, and he'll be. . . j/k): I had another dream with a different twist, and the timing of it all was quite ironic, considering the events that transpired later in the day. I can't help but wonder if some of these dreams are stemming from some emotional discord. Naturally, I've left it to God to do with it what He will.

Keep any comments, suggestions, or questions coming. I feed off of food for thought.

I have absolutely no doubt that God uses dreams to get our attention and tell us things, but you do have to be careful, because these special dreams are generally pretty rare, and it's important not to drive yourself crazy trying to find meaning in the meaningless. The ones that have meaning tend to rattle you a bit, and stay on your mind pretty clearly, even days or weeks later.

Once, when I was a teenager, God used a dream to show me that I was relying too much on my dad's spirituality, rather than seeking God myself. God revealed the meaning directly to me.

Other times, I had a dream that I thought was from God, but I didn't know what it meant, so I told another person, and they knew the meaning.

A friend once told me about a dream he had, and it had a message for me in it. The friend had no idea about it, because it was hidden from him, but I knew almost immediately, because it was revealed to me, and I was the one who needed to hear it (it rattled me at first, but in the end, brought me peace ).

So, yes, I definitely believe that God uses dreams sometimes, but you have to be very careful of anyone who says they can tell you their meaning, because there are plenty of people who would just make stuff up, trying to sound spiritual. You might want to ask God directly to show you the meaning, and if He doesn't then ask him to lead you to the right person who can tell you. Still, be careful, and if someone gives you an interpretation that you submit to prayer but don't feel peaceful about it within a day or so, then they probably weren't really speaking from God. Thank you! I am beginning to second guess any spiritual connection tied to the dream at this point. I have prayed about it, and although a second dream came to me, it somewhat deviated from what I considered the first dream to insinuate.

I still appreciate the advice and posts - both present and future, if any - you all contribute[ed]!
