Got it, you don't believe the entire Bible is good for instruction to all believers.

You too believe that scripture has limits as to application to us today, for I have grave doubts that you go out to some local temple and offer up animal sacrifices for your sins.

ALL the Bible is FOR us, but not all was written TO us today of the body of Christ.

I am under the New Covenant. In this new covenant Jesus Christ is my burnt offering, my peace offering, my sin offering, etc. I read the Old Testament because, like Paul said, these things were done as an example to us.

I am not a levitical priest, and yet in our covenant I am a priest. The new covenant priesthood is after the order of Melchisedek. However, the levitical priesthood was patterned after the Melchisedek priesthood. So I can see the pattern in the Old Testament.

For those who are blind they cannot see anything about the Melchisedek priesthood other than one or two verses. In reality the Melchisedek priesthood is a hidden priesthood that is spoken of everywhere. For example, consider the "Good Samaritan". Why is he in contrast to a Levite and a Priest? Because he is a priest after the order of Melchisedek. What he does in helping the man who fell among thieves and was beaten up was a priestly act, the Levite and Priest failed, whereas he didn't. He doesn't look like a priest, it is a hidden priesthood because he can fit into and help those in need better if he is one of them.

What about the parable of the ten virgins. They both look the same, they both have lamps, they both are dressed the same and they both are looking for the Lord to return. The difference is hidden and it is crucial. One is filled with oil, the other is not. One is like a hollywood set where it looks like a town, but in reality it is simply the appearance of a town, while the other one is real. Again, two priesthoods, one is a type and shadow of the real thing.

I am under the New Covenant.

No, you are not. That's nothing more than the usual false teaching from pulpits, radio and books. We today are under the TESTAMENT in Christ's shed Blood, as He stated when passing that cup. Corrupt translations put "covenant" where "testament" should have been placed, as is the case in the KJV

Well golly gee shuckins, and all that stuff us country folks is supposed to say.

This thread done turned into a lot of people saying each other ain't real Christians. Now who coulda seen THAT coming?!

I can't see that post to which you responded with this, but I do wonder why so many have not one clue about the differences between a covenant and a testament, which is the foundation undergirding my post #63 in this thread.

A covenant is a formal, binding agreement, promise, or contract between two or more parties

A legal will is a a unilateral testamentary document.

Jesus shedding His blood for our redemption was a legal will, a testament. We had nothing to do with that.

However, to be priests and kings to God is a covenant. You must take an oath of office, you must consecrate yourself for this service.

Hebrews 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

The resurrected and ascended Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant. I am under that covenant. Jesus is the High Priest according to the order of Melchisedek. I am a priest according to that order.

7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

This is not a testament. You can't replace a testament with a second one, because once the person dies the testament is sealed in that blood.

8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: 9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

This is the new covenant. Paul talks of how our heart is circumcised with the true circumcision when we are crucified with Christ. Paul tells us that Christ lives in us, those laws are an expression of Jesus Christ in us.

The word in Hebrews 8 is the same word that is translated as Testament in the gospels when Jesus is giving us the cup and the bread. The redeeeming blood is given to us by Jesus, that is a testament, it has nothing to do with us. But when we act as priests to minister this salvation to others then that is a covenant relationship.

We have received a priesthood to minister the word of God to others. That is a covenant relationship. A marriage covenant is one form of a covenant relationship. The church is the bride of Christ. After Jesus resurrected from the dead He told Peter to "feed my sheep". That is a covenant relationship between Peter and Jesus. The sheep belong to Jesus, He redeemed them, but He has a covenant relationship with Peter to feed them.

The gifts include Apostles, Prophets, Shepherds, and teachers. Those are all covenant relationships with Jesus, who is both Lord and King.

Paul said he was a servant, a slave of Jesus. That is a covenant relationship.

Jesus likened Himself to a man who is going into a far country and gives talents to his servants to invest while He is gone. That is a covenant relationship. The talents belong to the Lord but we are working for Him, investing this and getting Him a return on His principle.

Yes, AI is correct in that presentation.

However, to be priests and kings to God is a covenant. You must take an oath of office, you must consecrate yourself for this service.

Wrong. You are not. The covenant of the Mosaic Law is still in force. The New Covenant and the Old Covenant cannot coexist. Scripture proves this:

Hebrews 8:12-13
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Notice the perfect present tense in verse 13. The covenant of Law IS ready to pass away because it WAXETH old, all present tense when Hebrews was written NOT by the apostles, but by those who learned from them. Notice also TH WHOM Hebrews was written...to Hebrews, not Gentiles, and this proves that the Law is still in force today.

The New Covenant will not be in force until AFTER His Second Coming, not before. The very verses at which you pointed prove what I'm saying, even though you appear to have completely ignored the tense within the grammar. The New Covenant will indeed be a better covenant but only YET to come after His Kingdom is established, and that covenant will be made with Israel, not Gentiles.

Replacement theology says that God ever made a covenant with Gentiles, which is totally false, and He never will make a covenant with Gentiles.

Again you do err. That creed applies Greek-rooted terms not found within the Bible as descriptors for key doctrinal foundations. If you want to place your faith in that creed as representative of inspired scripture, then go for it. I for one will stick to what I know was and is inspired by the Lord.

MM

Wrong, the error is yours. The Creed outlines and proclaims a statement of faith in the two central doctrines of salvation that the Bible lays out, the correct belief in the correct God, and the belief in the Gospel. If you don't believe what the Creed says then you don't have faith in the Bible, it's more likely you didn't even do the work of reading the Bible really. A creed is just a statement of faith, the Athanasian Creed is the definitive statement of faith in the Bible and the essential salvic doctrines of the religion of Christianity (faith in the true God and faith in the Gospel). Anyone that denies the Athanasian Creed in whole or in part is denying the Bible and they are denying God and they are denying Jesus and like the Bible states many times, that person is not going to be saved, they are going to perish in the hellfire because they rejected to believe in Jesus.
