I just learned (prompted by CC discussions) that all Christians (whether any denomination) agree (at least implicitly) regarding God's requirement for salvation per the NT Gospel or else they would not be saved (Eph. 4:4-6). Again, it is not that they should agree or ought to agree but that they DO agree on this required minimum or else they are pseudo-Christians (Rom. 8:9).

So, the implied soteriological task is discerning what constitutes the content of the nucleus of saving faith/God's requirement for salvation that no Christian denies and every disagreement must/does revolve around or else they would not be saved/saints.

It must be simple enough for a child to comprehend/believe/satisfy (Matt. 18:3).

So, the implied soteriological task is discerning what constitutes the content of the nucleus of saving faith/God's requirement for salvation (GRFS) that no Christian denies and every disagreement must/does revolve around or else they would not be saved/saints.

It must be simple enough for a child to comprehend/believe/satisfy (Matt. 18:3).

As I prayed about this task, I received the insight that the soteriological nucleus (GRFS) can be compared to a fractal design. A fractal is a never-ending geometric pattern where a shape repeats itself in smaller and smaller sizes. If you zoom in on a fractal forever, you always see the same design. What is the soteriological shape/fractal in the divine design/plan? God's Love (1John 4:7-16).

Jesus implied that a child too young to know Scripture can be saved (Matt. 19:14), and Paul indicated every sinner who has ever lived has no excuse for not reflecting the Creator's good/loving nature (Rom. 1:20, 2:6-11, 5:5). This kerygmatic truth is the fractal fact all on CC who are saved agree on, no matter which aspect of the hippo/design they see from where they are.
(The devil is in the details/didache.)

This is what I just learned due to discussions on CC.

These threads get buried quickly, so I want to repost what folks have learned via discussions on CC.

Again, I realize many of y'all might have missed seeing this thread before it got buried,
so here it is on page 1 again so you will share what you have learned via CC discussions,
so that the percentage of items (5 of the 14) will not be mostly by me.

Do folks who have nothing to share already know it all or wanna be popes?
Surely not! So, don't be shy. Ready, set, love to learn and learn to love!

Well, I will take another turn, because I just learned something more--that I should add new teachings to my Key OT Teachings thread:

1Chron. 16:8-36. Give thanks to the Lord… Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim His salvation… Who made the heavens… O families of nations… worship the Lord… for He comes to judge the earth. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever… Amen.”

(Song of Songs appears as though it could have been a dramatic form in the vein of Job.)

Oba. 15. “The day of the Lord is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon you own head.” (cf. Rom. 2:6).

Looks like nobody will tell or teach me/I will not learn anything/ I haven't learned much/Nobody has learned a thing from me at all on CC

So I will bow out of this thread and possibly not go on BDF anymore. What is the point?

Nobody can even clue me in on what GWH stands for...

Groovy Water Hole?

Giant Whangdoodle Haircut?

GWh is giga watt hour

GWH could be...

  • Great Western Highway (New South Wales, Australia)
  • Gas Water Heater
  • Good Will Hunting (the film)

The point or purpose of this thread as clearly stated in the OP is for us all to share significant truths we have learned that have caused us to amend some belief(s), one example at a time of how participation on CC has blessed your life with new or amended understanding of God's Word.

If you have not learned any such thing on CC, then this thread is not for you.
Thanks!

BTW, GWH is my initials.

One thing I have learned is that for everyone who comments there may be 50 or more who read but don't comment.

On this thread there are 1,000 people who have viewed it and 22 who have commented. The ratio is close to 50:1

Then you have 150 comments from 22 people. That is around 7 comments per person on average for those who comment.

Hmm CC has blessed my life with new or amended understanding of Gods Word?

What do you mean by amended? I think belief in the gospel doesn't need to be amended so much as shared with as many people as possibly who are willing to receive and know the truth so they can be set free...from whatever situation they may be facing, and by reading Scripture Gods word can comfort us and bring insight. Proverbs is a good book to import that sort of wisdom.

We are not meant to lean on our own understanding anyway.

In my time on CC are many questions or things I was going through in my life that I needed God's wisdom for and at least one person on CC was able to give me words of wisdom when I needed it.

It wasn't necessarily in the BDF that was shared.

My recent 'learning' through discussion was that in the Old Testament God would tell parents to beat up their disobedient kids with a rod. It wouldn't kill them. I think I kind of already knew that, but obviously that didn't quite work or necessarily make them grow obedient and just caused unnecessary injury and trauma.

However in the New Testament Jesus got beaten up, flogged. whipped and crucified for not even doing anything wrong. So he took the punishment anyway. And it killed him - but before he died he forgave them anyway and was resurrected so it was a happy ending after all.

And after Jesus was crucified that method of punishment was no longer used.

Now children love their parents instead of fearing them thanks to Jesus.

Interesting analysis. Thanks.
And then there is the category in which your and Lanolin's posts lie: People who post off topic/not per the OP.

By amended I mean added to, not necessarily changed. I hope that after 75 I have the main thing/Gospel essentially correct, but I recently added a sixth point to my version of the Christian creed specifying the significance of truthseeking and general revelation.

I am glad you were helped by words of wisdom on CC, and if you ever come up with some new learning you want to share, that would be appropriate for posting on this thread.

Crucifixion was done through Nero and was abolished by Constantine in 337 AD per Google.

Yes, my loving parents taught me to love rather than to fear them, although I did receive a few spankings along the way.

I do not want to divulge my name, but I have said that I like to think of GW as meaning God's Word,
because learning/cooperating with it/the Holy Spirit is my main goal in life as a truthseeker.

I express this love musically in the following song:

Something I was reminded of recently on your thread about the age of accountability (which I had been taught in my Baptist church) is that a clue about the stage of accountability is given in the story of Adam and Eve by the fact that their realization of sin was described as recognizing their nakedness and then by failure to confess their guilt and their attempt to hide from God.

The loss of childhood innocence (observed in my own children) probably occurs around the age of eight, which is a a couple of years before the onset of puberty. Our two kids thought nothing of coed nude bathing with their cousins before we curtailed it by first grade. Could learning how to read the Bible have anything to do with the loss of innocence? (Rom. 5:13) Hmm.

I learned just this past week via discussion with a tulipist (whom I worried were condemned because of heresy per Gal. 1:6-9) that
they may be Christians and saved if their heresy is unintentional or due to ignorance per 1Cor. 3:14-15, although that false belief will be burned as they enter heaven, which I signify by means of the heart and flame ❤️‍🔥
Now I worry less about them.

I was reminded recently that the stage of moral accountability for normal human souls is indicated by the story of A&E,
and I realized/received an insight that godly parents prepare the way for understanding sin against God, because typically
their commands to siblings are some form of God's Golden Rule (Exo. 20:12, Eph. 6:1-3, cf. Gal. 3:24, Matt. 7:12), which may be
the most primitive and universal revelation of God's moral will/law via general revelation/right reasoning/divine logic.

Not sure what you are getting at
It wasn't that. It was they ate from the forbidden tree and it opened their eyes, not that they realised they were naked.
If learning to read the bible is forbidden that doesn't even make sense. The Bible isn't like the knowledge of good and evil. The Bible is meant to be like the other tree - the Tree of Life.

It was you as parents who implied nude bathing was forbidden as you stopped it by the first grade. If you hadn't have said that they would still be innocent of it.

Lots of people bathe nude, like the people in Nordic countries and both men and women do it together.

Gen. 3:1-5 indicates that disobeying God caused them to realize they were naked/guilty, which is why they covered up, hid from God, and denied responsibility. IOW, both-and; sins and symptoms.

Reading Scripture about what God says is good and evil makes folks morally accountable, and children can learn to read
the Bible at about the age of eight.

The Bible teaches that adult public nudity is shameful/sinful, but lots of people ignore God's Word--
and bathing isn't the only thing they do together.
