p.s. - our sins are imputed or reckoned or credited to the Lord Jesus's account by God, in the same way that God imputes, reckons or credits the Lord Jesus' righteousness, the righteousness of God, that is, to our accounts. Jesus was never a sinner but, for a brief moment in time, He stood in our place ~as one~ (on the Cross) FOR us, according to His Father's predetermined plan and will, to redeem us and finally make forgiveness and salvation a reality for us!

It's not the sin especially marked out, but rather what manner of sin is unjustly imputed to the righteous, that they do not commit.

It's one thing to wrongfully impute guilt to the innocent, such as for theft of another person's goods. But a worse thing entirely is to sinfully beat a righteous man to death, and then inpute that sin of the murderers to that righteous man, as though it were lawful to beat him to death.

And so, To believe that God imputed sin to Jesus Christ, and was cursed and smitten of God for sin, is to believe the wicked sinners that struck and smote Him, were justified in crucifying Him for blasphemy:

To impute Jesus Christ the righteous with sin, is bad enough; And to believe God imputed Him with the sin, is worse.

But what we that have sinned meant for the evil, God meant for the good, that by His resurrection from the dead, we can repent of sinning against Him, and be forgiven by mercy for His former enemies at the cross:

Jesus Christ died for us on a cross, to redeem us and save us by His resurrection from the dead.

'In our stead' is the part that men insert for false tradition. No Scripture says that Jesus Christ died in our stead, nor instead of us.

If Christ died instead of us, then why do we still die? And since Christ died for all men, then why does any man still die?

Dying for someone else is not the same as dying instead of someone else.

A good soldier can die for other comrades, without dying instead of them.

The Spartans at Thermopyle all died for each other, but none died instead of the other.

No Scripture anywhere says that Jesus died in our stead, in our place, nor took our place on a cross. Which would contradict His command, that we take up our own cross for His sake, even as He did for our sake.

In Scripture, dying for us is for our sake, not instead of us. Only in false tradition is dying for us, dying in our stead.

God did not die on a cross, but only the body prepared for the Son, born of a woman, and buried in a tomb.

The prophecy of scripture does not break Scripture: No man can die for sin instead of another, because every soul still dies by our own sinning, not by the sin of another.

You are making an interesting argument, but as it stands you fail. If you truly wish to make this argument, then you need to stress different passages and also, very likely, present a different concept of sin to enable your argument to make sense. You fall for the trap of selective interpretation of scripture. Sin was not only imputed to Christ. He was made sin for us. You do not realise that Lord Jesus died as man, not as God. Lord Jesus had a human soul. Lord Jesus was the "Last Adam", not some kind of spirit being pretending to be human.

The prophecy therefore is of unbelieving and sinful men at the cross, wrongly imputing and understanding the sufferings and crucifixion of Jesus Christ to be the lawful execution of a guilty blasphemer against God.

2. The false tradition from a false reading of the prophecy is this: God imputed Jesus Christ with our sins, and made Him cursed to die by sins, and so pay our price for sins. As though we cannot die by our own sins, if we believe and trust in that tradition, which is false.

That tradition begins with wrongly believing God imputed His son with sin, and not man. It has several false parts to support it: The first error already dealt with, is of changing 'on our behalf' to 'in our stead'. The next error here is changing 'making Jesus to be sin' into 'making Jesus sin'.

God made Him to be sin, is not God made Him sin. The same as dying on our behalf, is not dying in our stead.

1. The Scripture is not saying, that God made Jesus sin on a cross. But rather, that God made Jesus by commandment, to be dealt with sinfully in the hands of wicked men. God made His Son to be a sinful blasphemer in the eyes of man. He was not made a sinful blasphemer by God.

God commanded His Son to submit to the cross, by false imputation of sin and blasphemy. God did not impute His Son with sin, and so was smitten of God as by law. Which is the false prophecy and tradition.

The Scripture is saying that by command, God made His Son to submit obediently into the hands of sinful man, to do with Him whatsoever they would, even as Jesus said of His obedient prophet John:

Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

Mar 9:13
But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.

The Son was made by the Father to be as a sinful blasphemer in the hands of sinful men.

And God did not command the wicked hands to smite Him, as if by law. If Jesus legally died on the cross for sin, then God made the men crucfy Him for sin of blasphemy, and Jesus was made to be a sinful blasphemer hanging on the cross by law of God, which is the false tradition contrary to prophecy of scripture.

The prophecies of Jesus' sufferings and death on a cross, say plainly that only men imputed Jesus with sin, and unjustly made him to be as a wicked sinner smitten of God by law.

The only reason they could do so, when His hour was come, was because the Father made the Son to submit obediently to the humiliation of false judgment, beatings, and crucifixion as a transgressor among men:

And he made his grave with the wicked...And he was numbered with the transgressors;

Hello @ATG, that's correct, the Lord Jesus died on the Cross in our stead to redeem and save us. That teaching may be a traditional teaching too, but first and foremost, it's a Biblical teaching.

2 Corinthians 5​

21 ~God~ made Him who knew no sin ~to be sin~ on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. ​

How then did God make His Son to be sin, since the Son was not made sin?

Once again, made to be sin, is not made sin. Even as on our behalf, is not in our stead.

1. To be made sin, is to be made sinful, which is only by transgression.

And Jeroboam drave Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.

Isa 31:7
For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin.

Made to be sin, is to be made the object of sin, which is only by accusation; Even as Moses and Aaron were likewise made by obedience to the LORD's command, to be an offence to the children of Israel:

Exo 5:20
And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh: And they said unto them, The LORD look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.

Jesus could not be made sin on the cross, because He knew no sin and did not transgress. He could have no sin imputed to Him, because He had no sin.

By command of the Father, the Son was made to be a sin of offence to all at the cross, not by transgression and blasphemy, but only by false accusation of sinful men.

2. At the cross, Jesus was made to be sin in the sight of all men, and offensive to men, by many stripes, brutal beating, and crucifixion.

When we see Jesus on the cross, we see sin, not His sin, but our sins laid upon His body. He was made sin, but was made by the Father to be sinned again and an offensive sight to all men: We see in His body what sin does to man.

1 Peter 2:23
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree,

He bare our sins against Him on His body, not our sins laid on His soul. He died bodily by our sins, not spiritually by having sin imputed to Him.

Jesus hanging on the cross is the manifestation and humiliation of men sinning against the righteous, and not only with their sinful hands, but ours also, for He must come to die for all our sins, the Jew first and also the Gentiles.

When we see Jesus on the cross, we see our own sins against God and man. The offence of the cross is to make us to repent, that we might by made His righteousness through resurrection from the dead:

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Rom 4:25
Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
