YOU are an excellent example of how humanity often prefers comforting lies over convicting truths. In the end times, this manifests as a rejection of true prophetic voices ( eg. the Elijah Message, John the Baptist's message.) in favor of false prophets who validate the world's carnal desires. Eg. The World's Sabbath Vs God's Seventh Day Sabbath ... It's all about LOVE of God Vs love of your self.

While I agree there is an attack on the gift of prophecy in general (lots of denominations say it no longer is used), and I agree with keeping the commandments and the sabbath, I whole heartily disagree that Ellen White was a true prophet.

There is evidence of things she claimed, that did NOT happen. Which makes her a false prophet.

• In 1888 She said Christ's return was "not far distant" and "some of us who now believe will be alive upon the earth" to witness it. Again, everyone that was alive during that, is now dead.

• In 1895 she said slavery will be revived in southern states. Whelp... that didn't happen.

There's more, but honestly... 1 is enough to constitute as a false prophet. So while the gift of prophecy is real, she was no prophet.

Summary: The Biblical Test of a Prophet​

That's all that needs to be said. Deuteronomy was clear, if it happens, they're a prophet. If it doesn't, they should be put to death. Making an argument for them not happening, is just trying to find a way to follow a false prophet while claiming "it's conditional". Her statements are not conditional based.

In Jonah, it clearly says it was a "warning" (verse 6) not a 100% prophetic statement.
Same with Jeremiah 18 verses 9-10 clearly show conditions, not 100% prophetic statements.

HERS were 100% prophetic statements. Hence, false prophet. And to twist and reinterpret what she said (which was only done after the fact), only makes you a fool for believing and following what she says.

Nicely stated brother Rob. God's true prophets have always been attacked by the agents of Satan. That little one page summation of the "errors" of EG White bears all the marks of Satan., "he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth".
None of those accusations are true. The EG White Estate has an online rebuttal of each point. Keeping in mind that an assorted list of fables are designed for mass consumption while searching out the truth is a personal journey for each person as they follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit. This book, reader, is not published to tell us that there is sin and woe and misery in this world. We know it all too well. This book is not published to tell us that there is an irreconcilable controversy between darkness and light, sin and righteousness, wrong and right, death and life. In our heart of hearts we know it, and know that we are participators, actors, in the conflict.

But to every one of us comes at times a longing to know more of the great controversy. How did the controversy begin? Or was it always here? What elements enter into its awfully complex aspect? How am I related to it? What is my responsibility? I find myself in this world by no choice of my own. Does that mean to me evil or good?

What are the great principles involved? How long will the controversy continue? What will be its ending? Will this earth sink, as some scientists say, into the depths of a sunless, frozen, eternal night? Or is there a better future?

The question comes closer still: How may the controversy in my own heart, the strife between inflowing selfishness and outgoing love, be settled in the victory of good, and settled forever? What does the Bible say? What has God to teach us about this eternally important question?

The record of false 'prophecies' from EG White is both extensive and alarming, considering the adherents who still follow her, while ignoring the record of error and insisting that she was both accurate and a true 'prophet'.

Adventists, having experienced the false prophecy of William Miller who stated Jesus would return Oct. 22, 1844, (aka The Great Disappointment) retroactively corrected the error of Miller by stating that Miller was over eager in his words and what actually took
place 10/22/1844, was the 'start' of Jesus final 'work', meaning the cleansing in the heavenly sanctuary which would actually lead up to
the 2nd coming.

The backlash after the failed expectations of so many, resulted in angry critcism and even, in some cases, violence from the public. It seems
that many followers had given up their possessions in consideration of the prophecied date of Jesus return and now they were left empty handed both spiritually and physically.

The Millerites had to deal with their own shattered expectations, as well as considerable criticism and even violence from the public. Many followers had given up their possessions in expectation of Christ's return. A Millerite church was burned in NY and 2 others were vandalized
while a mob in Illinois attacked the Millerite congregation with clubs and knive while yet another group, in Toronto, Canada, was tarred and feathered. In some other cases in Canada, Millerites were shot at.

Many Milleries gave up their beliefs but, during this time, as stated above, excues were made, corrections given and several new sects sprang up, apparently unwilling to admit error or the possibility they had been falling both a false teacher and a false prophet in the person of William Miller.

Due to the active and insistent amount of posts made in another thread here regarding the ongoing claims of White's adherents or SDA participants, along with the denials of scripture that indicate error or the skipping over of questions and so on by the same adherents, it seems it would be more helpful to discuss the problems of White's teachings in a different atmosphere where proof of the false prophecies and what scripture actually states, could be discussed. No prejudice intended, but open discussion is needed which cannot be had if certain people take scripture out of context to change the meaning or, just ignore scripture altogether.

Here is one false prophecy of White:

White contends the Sabbath is still in effect and Sunday is not honored by God as day to honor Him

What scripture actually says:

The New Testament clearly shows Christians worshiping together on Sunday, not Saturday and Romans 14 teaches that the individual must be convinced in their own mind of the day they choose to observe.

That's just silly. There are not even millions of people following White today. Actual believers in Jesus follow the Bible, not some pickled woman with a bad head injury who was never quite right after the accident as everyone who knew here attest to.
