I think it is a public service to share this information here. We never know what someone is going through. Or,where they're looking so to find help or an answer.

I really hope that people considering suicide are contemplating what recent research has shown. According to these researchers a person will know that death has occurred for several seconds, maybe minutes. That seems bad enough for a natural death, but for a person committing suicide it must be devastating to fade out of life knowing that there is no going back and that you brought it on yourself.

In other countries like my own, we wear yellow ribbons

Suicide prevention is a big thing here, because we have the highest rate of youth suicide in the world, well it was when I was growing up. It was so prevalent, that the campus newspaper wrote about ways to exit the world so as to avoid having to pay for the cost of living here. Those who were clever, left the country (we called it the 'brain drain' ) and didn't go back otherwise they'd have to pay their student loans and never be able to own a house if they couldn't find a decent job here.

And the govt didn't provide any decent jobs for graduates. It actually did nothing for the youth. They didn't care. Boomers.

I have been to a funeral of a suicide. My friend's nephew.
They said at his funeral (he was only 23) that if you are feeling depressed/suicidal TALK TO SOMEONE.

That was a blessing at a sad time such as that. Good for them.

Sadly,there's a stigma attached to suicide in America.
It's the cowards way out, it's selfish, etc...

That's horrible to blame the dead. How many would be saved if they knew they wouldn't be judged or condemned?

In this country we arrest those talked down from a suicide effort,like jumping. Or,arrest those who failed to kill themselves.

Years ago,before San Francisco government installed prevention barriers,countless numbers of people were known to have jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge.

A man decided to document such things so to have something to show officials so a proactive prevention effort could be launched. That video should still be on YT after it was broadcast on national TV.

You hear about such things being the bridge is famous on itself. But to see it,and with great frequency over days,weeks,months,is stunning.

One survivor was interviewed. He said after he jumped he knew he'd made a mistake. When suddenly this huge gust of wind gathered about him and lifted him back onto the bridge!

Talk about a sign!
 
We had Grafton Bridge in Auckland over Grafton Gully...protective barriers are up because that was a notorious site for it.

Nobody is allowed to walk over the Auckland Harbour Bridge, you can only drive over it and not stop anywhere so I have not heard of anyone attempting there in all the years I've lived in Auckland.

If people are determined they find other ways but sometimes it's taboo to talk about because if someone listening is truly suicidal, it will give them ideas.

What you need to do is distract them and get them to think about good things that are happening now, it's no good dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. I think everyone has the potential to do God's will in their life and count for something. We just need to ask Him what it is. And He will help us. We don't have to do this thing called life alone.

How is contacting a non Christian organization going to help anybody

If someone was wanting to commit suicide and they call these people they would put them on hold!

Well they killed themselves and they only have themselves to blame for that.
People that do this sort of thing either never knew the Lord, or turned away from the Lord.

Those that self murder (commit suicide) are in violation of these biblical truths:

1 Corinthians 3:16,17

If any man destroys the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

And no, if you say that, you put the meaning of faith in a tricky spot. you say that anyone with anything less than blind faith is unsaved. I almost did it after I was saved. after William died, if I had not already pledged myself to life, I would hav likely gone to meet him early. to say that those who, in a moment of weakness, do somehting wrong that violates scripture are not or ever were saved is to say that only the perfect enter the kingdom of God. Christ paid for all sins, past present AND future. To say that suicide is the unforgivable sin is to say, to me, who has been there, that if you sin, ever, you go to hell.

They aren't a Christian organization so they can't really help since they'll leave Jesus out of the conversation.

One has to be alive in order to repent of their sins. If they whack themselves they have no ability to repent because they destroyed themselves which is giving the ultimate middle finger to the Lord.

1 Corinthians 3:16,17

No when you got saved only your past sins were forgiven:

Romans 3:25
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God

Claiming future sins were forgiven before they are even committed then that's mocking God according to Galatians 6:7,8 which tells us if we sow to the flesh (sin ) we shall reap corruption and that makes us no longer in right standing with the Lord.

To fix that one has to confess and forsake their sin - see: Proverbs 28:13 and 1 John 1:9
If a person murders themself, then they have no way to confess and forsake their sin so they are guilty of the sin of murder.

All murderers have their place in the lake of fire according to Jesus - Revelation 21:8
Suicide is a trick of the devil to cause people to spend eternity in hell.
