In Matthew 24 Jesus makes a very unique mention to those listening. He said something that those who were there would be very familiar with. He said (remember Daniel) in reference to Abomination Desolation.

The Abomination of Desolation foretold in Daniel had not yet occurred when Jesus was alive.

What's interesting about the reference to Daniel is the timing of when Daniel wrote this. It was not long after when a PIG was offered on the Temple altar by Seleucid king of Syria to force Hellenization in order to dedicate the sanctuary to Zeus.

Remember, there is nothing in Scripture that specifically mentions a pig being sacrificed to Zeus by Antiochus IV Epiphanes. One needs to be careful about that. However, we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water. Daniel 11:14 appears to allude to that very event:

Daniel 11:14 - And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.

Notes: Commentators are generally in agreement up to this verse. SDA introduces Rome, while other denominations keep going with Antiochus III the Great. It is apparent that neither side has it correct.

And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south…:
The timeline now jumps ahead to somewhere between 170 BC and 160 BC. Many have tried to stand up against the King of the South. A significant amount of time has passed since the previous verse. Antiochus III the Great is long dead. Antiochus IV Epiphanes becomes the new King of the North.

also the robbers of thy people…:
The is the beginning of the many heresies committed by Antiochus IV Epiphanes leading up to the Maccabean Revolt. 'Robbers of thy people' can easily be linked in all kinds of ways to that particular time period of betrayal, blasphemy, civil war, liberation and so on.

…shall exalt themselves to establish the vision…:
This is very strong language. The vision is referring Daniel's prophecies, specifically the return of the Messiah. There are factions trying to force it all to come to fruition before the appointed time. Again, this is Maccabean Revolt language being used.

…but they shall fall…:
Since God makes things happen in His time, the forcing of prophecy, which included the infamous 'swine event', was a failure.

The end times abomination of desolation (AoD) of Daniel 12:11-12 will be a statue image of the beast king placed on the temple mount.

My friend. I have tried so many times to help you out with this on other forums. I may have to give up on you.

All I can say is that if you are serious about this topic, you should at least consider what I offer in the PDF link.

Was the veil thick or thin
Veil suggests something thin but I suppose it could be thick as well. I thought it was more of a curtain...

Brides wore veils and also folks in mourning, but muslim women wear them as well.

I'd love to see a picture of it. The ones in google images suggest it was mostly red/scarlet

As Scripture plainly teaches, the Tabernacles and Temples were symbolic of the body of Jesus. What most do not understand is that it is referring to his zygote, not a fully developed person. Think of a Eukaryotic Cell that must be nourished and taken care of. The Tabernacle in the Wilderness is a perfect symbolic reproduction of said:

The Most Holy Place is the Nucleolus. The Ark is DNA. The Veil, specifically the Cherubim, are symbolic of Chromatids and Chromosomes. The parting of the veil has a very profound meaning that the world will understand one day. There is too much to talk about here.

How does this work?

Hi @HeIsHere . I finally got to your post. Sorry for the delay. I was not expecting so many comments.

You may have seen me touch on this already, but if you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them.

Basically, Daniel 11 is chronological history from around 539 BC to 538 BC to the final days of King Herod. There is no gap of time that leaps into the future as some here claim. The part that is a bit astonishing is that Daniel 12 is a direct continuation from the times of King Herod. That means Michael already stood up:

Daniel 12:1 - And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

That will be a hard pill to swallow for most who see the above as future still. However, since this is not Preterism, we don't have to interpret Scripture as if *everything* has already happened. So really, it's not as difficult to receive as some may think.

The next verse is simply about the graves that opened after Jesus rose:

Daniel 12:2 - And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

That is not referring to the final resurrections that are still future to us now. Daniel 12:2 is about this event:

Matthew 27:52-53 - And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

So, all is good. We still have prophecy left to fulfill.

You’re right that Antiochus dies before the final desecration event—but that actually confirms, not refutes, the pattern claim.

There is no "first abomination of desolation", or "second abomination of desolation" or "final abomination of desolation" There is only *one* Abomination of Desolation event. Thus, there was no pattern to begin with.

Daniel 11:31 explicitly ties the “abomination that makes desolate” to Antiochus’ desecration of the temple (167 BC)...

No, it does not. I have proven that already. Please see my commentaries here:

...which is historically recognized...

And there is where you jumped the shark. You swallowed the Kool-Aid. You never bothered to double check if the "scholars" you relied on were telling the truth or not. You simply took their word for it. Now you have egg on your face.

Daniel 11:40–45 then moves beyond Antiochus into a king whose death the author does not know, which is why serious scholarship distinguishes the Antiochus section (up to ~11:39) from the later eschatological extension.

Just LOL at that statement. Insert the '1,000 face palms meme' here. In other words, because the "sChoLarz" completely botched what was supposed to be a simple chronological history leading up to the Fourth Kingdom, they capped Daniel 11:39 at the Third Kingdom and hurled the rest of the verses into the future like some crazy Hail Mary pass in the hopes no one would notice or question them.

To make matters worse, they scratch their heads in utter confoundment at who the King of the North could be. Maybe it's Trump or Putin. Maybe he is a little green man from Mars. Maybe the 'chariots, horsemen, and many ships' are UAP Phenomenon. The experts are baffled! I mean... just LOL at how ignorant and rediculous that is!

Don't even get me started on how Egypt is supposed to hand over all of their gold and silver that they no longer have. Good grief.

Come on @OMC . We have the internet now. It's not that difficult to see the mistakes they made. Their house of cards have fallen. It's time to move on and put all of that nonsense into the rubbish bin of history where it belongs.

Daniel 11 confirms the final King of the North is the Man of Sin who comes after three other kigns fall before him.

I already proved to you that the three who are fallen are Babylon, Medo-Persia and Greece.

By hurling the later verses of Daniel 11 into the future, you now have your timelines messed up.

This is a butchering of both the Bible and Roman history.

You butchered it yourself. Daniel 11 is chronological history, yet you split it up into schizophrenic pieces.

Egypt had already belonged to Rome by the time of Octavion

Yes, who do you think the King of the North is in Daniel 11:40? That is Octavian. He goes against the King of the South, i.e., Egypt/Mark Antony/Cleopatra and wins. He now has possesion of the treasures of Egypt just as the verses describe:

Daniel 11:42-43 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

...there were not three kings before Octavion

Again, they were Babylon, Medo-Persia and Greece.

...none of the events of Revelation correlate to Octavion's reign.

So?

In fact Jesus was born during Octavion's reign, and then crucified in the reign of Tiberius...

Yep, and King Herod is in Daniel 11 and Daniel 8.

...so it makes no sense for Jesus to be talking about the end of the world in a period that already had passed by the time he talks about it.

The Abomination of Desolation was still future when Jesus walked the earth.

Look, if you don't want to review the document I have provided, at least watch these videos:

Correct.

Your interpretations are very close to mine. Indeed, the beginning of the Fourth Kingdom, Roman Empire, is in Daniel 11.
Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, Mark Antony are in Dan 11:17-19
The raiser of taxes in 11:20 is Augustus. He's the reason Joseph and Mary had to go to Bethlehem.
Tiberius is 11:21-22. Jesus is the Prince of the covenant who was killed during the reign of Tiberius (Dan 8:11 & 25)

The entire prophecy (chapters 11 & 12) follows a consecutive/chronological order beginning with the Persian Empire under the rule of Darius the Mede. And ends in the last days right before Jesus' 2nd coming.

The reason I mention it is because I am wondering if my view is the same as the Preterist view ?

But why should we turn to full blown Preterism just because the average person has been brainwashed with false narratives regarding Tribulation and Rapture? If you and the others here simply dug a little deeper, you would have found that the perfect solution was in the Bible all along.

Is so simple, a caveman can understand it. Look:

Matthew 24:15-16 - When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, whoso readeth, let him understand: Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

The Abomination of Desolation was the Crucifixion. The word 'see' means 'understand spiritually', not 'see physically with the eyes'. It actually tells you how to interpret that word right there in the verse. Thus, those that understood Daniel's prophecy knew that once Jesus was crucified, they had a short time to leave Judea. And so it was that in 70 AD, the desolation happened.

And now the verse that seems to confuse everyone:

Matthew 24:21 - For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Obviously, the destruction of Jerusalem was horrible to the Jews. It was the Time of Jacob's Trouble. However, the part that the Preterists (and almost everyone else) gets wrong is that the Great Tribulation *NEVER ENDED*. We are still in it!

Thus, the verses continue describing things until the end of the world:

Matthew 24:29 - Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Again, we have been living in the tribulation of those days for thousands of years now. When the Times of the Gentiles are over, the end of the world happens as Matthew 24:29 describes.

The Rapture happens for the Redeemed at that time:

Matthew 24:30-31 - And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Like I said, it's so easy a caveman can understand it... that is once said caveman deprograms himself.

I was watching to see if anyone would post Daniel 12:11 and point out that it says the AOD would be set up 1290 days after the Daily Sacrifice was taken away not 1290 days/years from when it began. https://biblehub.com/interlinear/daniel/12-11.htm

That is a misinterpretation. Let's look at the verse again:

Daniel 12:11 - And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

At first glance, it sounds like there are two separate events being described that are separated by 1290 days:
  1. The time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away
  2. The abomination that maketh desolate set up
That is not the case. These two events happen at the same time. What so many fail to do is look at the context of the entire chapter as well as the entire book of Daniel. What one will find if they do their homework is that there is a common starting point for all of the 'days' prophecies.

It is a simple timeline of years:
  • 0 = Exodus (woman flees to wilderness)
  • 1260 = Jesus is born
  • 1290 = Jesus begins ministry
  • 1335 = Destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD
The day/year principle must be applied to all of Daniel's prophecy, not just the seventy weeks. People flip-flop back and forth like sleazy politicians to make it all fit some convoluted eschatology. No mental gymnastics are required. God made it easy for us to understand.

Calling the crucifixion of Lord Jesus the abomination of desolation is an extreme blasphemy. Denying the Second Coming of Christ is an extreme heresy. Both will get you sent to the eternal hellfire well before the Apocalypse ever happens.

Be careful or your own words will judge you.

You claim that Messiah the Prince is the Antichrist. Is that not blasphemy according to your own definition?

This is not some wild claim that I am making. Others see this as well and give rational reasons why it is called what it is called.

Remember, from the perspective of Israel, killing their own Messiah is an abomination. It's not rocket science.

Study before making such bold and irresponsible claims...

Here is something so simple a caveman can understand it.

Jesus' disciples had asked Him what events to expect in the last days right before His 2nd coming and the end of the world (Matt 24:3).
So the Abomination of Desolation spoken of by Daniel has to be something for the last days.
The world did not end at Jesus' crucifixion.

Do me a favor and please don't patronize me. It's incredibly rude. You can disagree with me, it's fine, but patronizing is going to get you no where. Do you talk to everyone like this? Someone disagrees with you and you talk down to them and assume they aren't studying scripture and get their info from Youtube? Goodness gracious ....

Does no one on this site actually have a debate without arrogant attitudes?

Huh? I have no idea what you are on about. You made a false statement and I responded to it. So what? Why do you have to act so triggered and be so mean to me?

Instead of refuting what I said, you resort to personal attacks? Wow! How about you do *me* a favor and put me on ignore so I don't have to put up with your nasty, disgusting comments.

Lame.

You’re collapsing categories Daniel himself refuses to collapse; the text uses šiqqûṣ šōmēm as a type, not a one‑time historical singularity, and your insistence that “there is only one Abomination of Desolation” is not exegesis but a theological presupposition you’re forcing onto the grammar.
Daniel 8, 11, and 12 all describe a desecrating act tied to the removal of sacrifice, but they do not claim these acts are identical in time or agent; they share a pattern because Daniel intentionally frames them as recurring manifestations of the same cultic violation.
Your commentary on Daniel 11 doesn’t “prove” 11:31 isn’t Antiochus — it simply re‑asserts your premise and then treats your own reconstruction as the controlling authority over the text.
The mockery of “scholars” doesn’t substitute for demonstrating where the Hebrew actually contradicts them; your argument depends on redefining the Fourth Kingdom as already present in 11:20–39, ignoring the Seleucid markers in the passage, and then treating 11:40–45 as “obviously Rome” because your system requires it.
The problem isn’t that scholarship “botched” the chronology; it’s that your reading flattens Daniel’s literary structure, erases the author’s shift in 11:36, and treats your historical reconstruction as more authoritative than the text’s own signals.

But why should we turn to full blown Preterism just because the average person has been brainwashed with false narratives regarding Tribulation and Rapture?

Who said I turned to Preterism ? I was asking a Preterist their take on things. Asking what others believe is not the same as turning to that belief

Is so simple, a caveman can understand it. Look:
You better find a caveman to explain things to you then because so far you are understanding nothing :)

What the sun moon and stars represent is powers - political and religious that fall from power - not the end of the world as in no more Earth, ask a caveman because you said they can understand it :)

The Rapture happens for the Redeemed at that time:

Matthew 24:30-31 - And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Like I said, it's so easy a caveman can understand it... that is once said caveman deprograms himself.

You are so far from the truth now with this last bit, but your pride stops you finding the truth of scripture, you need to find the caveman within you to de-program yourself - then it will simple for you like you said :)

Of course the King of the North is not Rome, cannot be. Cannot be Seleucid either:

After the death of Alexander the Great his kingdom divided towards the 4 winds (AKA 4 corners/compass points). Dan 8:8 & 11:4
These are also the 4 heads of the leopard in Dan 7:6

The Seleucid Empire (East) - The ONLY possible kingdom that could be the easternmost territory from Alexander's Grecia.
Ptolemaic (Egypt) (South) - Several times in Dan 11 does it show the King of the South is Egypt.
The Antigonid Kingdom (West) - Nothing further west than that. Became what we know now as Italy and Greece.
Attalid Kingdom (North) - Became the Ottoman Empire then modern day Turkey.

There can be no other possibilities of the kingdoms because the prophecies state "towards the four winds".....
