Jesus was born a Jew. That means He was born under the Old Testament Jewish law of Moses. Of course He kept the Sabbath day and EVERY other law of that OLD covenant. He kept Passover. But that does not prove that Christian’s today should do that; because Jesus came to bring in a NEW COVENANT.

But here is the thing, Roman’s 7:1-6 says we CANNOT be married to the Old law of Moses and the New law of Christ at the SAME TIME! He uses the illustration of a husband and wife, but he says in verse 1 that he is speaking to people that “know the law.” The language here is very plain and very specific.

“IF WHILE HER HUSBAND LIVES, SHE MARRIES ANOTHER MAN, SHE SHALL BE CALLED AN ADULTRESS. BUT IF HER HUSBAND DIES SHE IS FREE FROM THAT LAW…”
Now notice verse 4,

“YOU ALSO HAVE BECOME DEAD TO THE LAW (of Moses). THAT YOU MIGHT BE MARRIED TO ANOTHER—TO HIM THAT WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD.”
The Holy Spirit is saying that we cannot be married to the Old Law of Moses and the New Law of Christ at the same time. That would be SPIRITUAL adultery.

Notice carefully verse 6.
“NOW WE HAVE BEEN DELIVERED FROM THE LAW ( of Moses) HAVING DIED TO WHAT WE WERE HELD BY, so that we should serve in the NEWNESS OF THE SPIRIT and MOT in the OLDNESS OF THE LETTER. We have to be “dead” to that old law before we can be married to Christ.

The Old Law of Moses, with all of its “handwritten requirements” was nailed to the cross of Jesus. Col. 2:14-16. It died there with Christ.

Hebrews 9:16-17- “ FOR WHERE THERE IS A TESTAMENT, THERE MUST ALSO BE THE DEATH OF THE TESTATOR. For a TESTAMENT IS IN FORCE AFTER MEN ARE DEAD, SINCE IT HAS NO POWER AT ALL WHILE THE TESTATOR LIVES.”

As long as Jesus was alive on earth, the Old law of Moses was in effect and everyone had to obey it. BUT….,when Jesus died, His NEW COVENANT OF FAITH came into force. or came into effect; just like any “will” does today. Now, see how Hebrews describes the Old law of Moses:

- the FORMER COMMANDMENTS HAVE BEEN ANNULLED. Heb. 8;18
-“He took away the FIRST so that He might establish the SECOND. Heb. 10:9
-the LAW HAS BEEN CHANGED Heb. 7:12
-In that He says a NEW COVENANT, He has made the FIRST ( covenant) OBSOLETE. Now what is becoming OBSOLETE and GROWING OLD ( Old Jewish law of Moses) is ready to VANISH AWAY!” Heb. 8:13. The Holy Spirit uses the word OBSOLETE, which means: NO LONGER USED; OUT OF DATE.

This is why Jesus nor any apostle ever told anyone or any church to “keep the Sabbath, after his death. It can only be a perpetual law if it is taught in the New Law of Christ; and it is not. For example, all of God’s moral principles are taught in every dispensation of the Bible/- in the beginning in the book of Genesis, in the old law of Moses AND IN THE NEW LAw OF CHRIST. We say they are eternal. But not so with the Sabbath. Jesus said it has been taken away and nailed to His cross. Colossians 2:12-16.

The argument sounds strong only if we accept the false idea that a command is valid only when the New Testament says, in the exact words, “Christians must rest on Saturday or they will go to hell.” Scripture does not establish God’s commandments that way. Jesus never said the Sabbath was cancelled, never changed it to Sunday, and never taught that His followers could ignore one of the Ten Commandments.

Here is the evidence. Jesus Himself kept the Sabbath and His custom was to go into the synagogue on that day:


Notice the wording: “as his custom was.” Jesus did not treat the Sabbath as something that had become meaningless. He taught on the Sabbath, healed on the Sabbath, and corrected the wrong way people were keeping it. He never said, “The Sabbath is cancelled.”

In fact, Jesus said something very important about God's commandments:


And since you asked for a whole chapter, read what Jesus says in the entire chapter. He does not give His disciples permission to throw away God's commandments. He actually makes the standard deeper.


This is Jesus speaking. He specifically warns about breaking commandments, and He even connects disobedience with judgment and hell. So the question is not whether Jesus used the exact sentence, “If you do not rest Saturday you will go to hell.” He did not use those exact words. The question is whether Jesus ever cancelled the fourth commandment or changed the seventh day to another day. There is no such statement.

The New Testament actually gives us a remarkable example after Jesus had died. His followers still observed the Sabbath:

Now, I agree with one part of your question: there is no New Testament verse that says in those exact words, “Anyone who does not rest on Saturday will go to hell.” But that argument proves nothing. Jesus also never said, word for word, “If you murder, you will go to hell because you broke the sixth commandment.” Instead, He taught the principle, warned about judgment, and upheld God's commandments.

The burden of proof is actually on the person claiming that the fourth commandment was cancelled. Where did Jesus say, “The fourth commandment is abolished”? Where did He say, “The seventh day has been changed to the first day”? Where did the apostles say, “From now on, Sunday replaces the Sabbath”? There is no such passage.

What we actually find is Jesus keeping the Sabbath, Jesus teaching about the Sabbath, Jesus calling Himself Lord of the Sabbath, His disciples resting according to the commandment after His death, the Sabbath continuing throughout Acts, Gentiles hearing God's word on the Sabbath, and Revelation describing God's faithful people as those who keep God's commandments.

So no, I do not need to produce a verse saying, “Saturday or hell,” because that is not how Scripture argues. Show me the verse where Jesus cancelled the fourth commandment or changed God's seventh-day Sabbath to Sunday. Until that verse is produced, the claim that the commandment was abolished is an assumption, not something Jesus taught.

Jesus said “It is finished.” I can think of several things that were finished.

Nothing to do with the Jewish Sabbath. It has everything to do with trusting Jesus with your whole life. If it was talking about the literal Sabbath, it would require you never to work again. That could get awkward when it's time to pay the bills.

The Christian life is a life of resting in the finished work of Christ, through His death and resurrection. It is taking His yoke upon us. "For whoever enters God’s rest also rests from his own work..........." verse 10. Yet we are also rewarded (or not) according to our works. This is not contradictory. God accepts what is of Christ and rejects those works which are not. (1 Corinthians 3:14)

Not talking about a Jewish sabbath. Heb 4:1-11 is talking about God's sabbath. It's HIS day of rest the text is talking about verses 4, 10 & 11

Obviously you didn't read it for yourself verse by verse word for word. You asked for NT evidence of a command to keep the 7th day sabbath of the 4th commandment. If you refuse to read or pretend you cannot understand then certainly do not claim your question hasn't been answered.

Paul says no such thing. He is talking about circumcision.
Last I heard none of the 10 commandments says anything about circumcision. So Paul cannot be talking about the 10 commandments here in Gal 5:1-6

Also I was a baby when my parents decided to circumcise. So according to Paul I cannot be saved huh? Even though I had no choice in the matter. At least according to the above text.

And BTW just because there are texts in both the OT and NT that mention sabbath days does not necessarily mean it's talking about the 7th day sabbath. EVERY Jewish holiday that was also a day of rest was called a sabbath day. It's what the word "sabbath" means, "a day of rest". Some holidays were "dated" such as Passover, Yom Kippor, etc. and were also called days of rest.....

So, as a Christian, which of the 10 commandment laws is it now OK to break?
1) Having other gods? Can I worship BOTH Mammon AND God?
2) Making and worshiping idols Assuming you use an interpretation that comes from the original Hebrew in Exo 20
Otherwise your bible won't have this commandment listed.
3) Cursing God is OK now? Even though it expressly says I will not be held guiltless?
4) The 7th day sabbath (which we call Saturday in today's world)? And specifically calls it the sabbath of the LORD thy God. Not the
sabbath of the Jews. And is the ONLY one of the ten that actually tells us which God gave this law.
5) I can dishonor my parents if and when I want to. Because I am Christian now
6) Murder? Why can't I end the suffering of all those poor people down there on the street. Send them directly to paradise with my
AR-15? Certainly a loving Christian thing to do.
7) Stealing is OK? I need it more than the other person anyway.
8) Adultery? Oh what fun. For this alone a moral atheist would want to become Christian....

Where does the bible record that Cain was told not to murder? If he did not know it was wrong then God made a mistake punishing him for something there was no law against.
Were the peoples of Sodom and Gomorrah evil? When were they given a law that stated "Thou shalt not commit adultery"

You have given no "solid evidence" (at least nothing biblical). Except for your denominational views and human interpretations of what the scriptures say and mean.
There is no God-given command that the 7th day sabbath has been either changed or done away with.
You will have to get rid of all 10 of the 10 commandments to get rid of the 7th day sabbath.

At this point (since my biblical references are ignored and you claim I am ignoring yours) let's just agree to disagree and keep ignoring what either one has to say.

All I know is I worship the God who created our world in 6 days and rested on the 7th day. So I know He is my Creator.
It is the ONLY one of the 10 that actually tells us which God gave this law.

If a law is clear then there is no need to repeat it. The sabbath law was clear and not questioned.

Don't everey anyone tell you God's laws no longer apply. That's false.

Some will say,we are not saved by works,so the laws don't apply.
God wrote his laws upon our hearts so we are never far from them.

That's what gives the Christian a righteous conscience.
Worry,when you meet a Christian that tells you moral laws don't apply to them.

Look to what God says. Not man. God said,Sin is lawlessness.



Here's the other thing you may soon realize. You will never change the wrong mindedness here.

If someone wants to observe Sabbath,do so!

That's between you and Jesus,who is Lord of the Sabbath.
When you pass on,Jesus isn't going to chastise you for it.

Though he may have an opinion about those who do.

Jesus is our Prince of Peace. We are to live in the peace of Christ.

Do not worry about me I know the ten commandments are necessary to enter into life and that will never change it is fixed in my mind, heart and soul that is the essence of the New Covenant, the Holy spirit Jesus send his believers tells us all this as for changing people I see the same things some do not want to change and prefer the wide path ahat leads to destruction. If only they listened to Jesus and place him First and above all they would know this.

Some call me legalist well so be it if Jesus tells us to keep the commandments he asked us to I guess he is one too.. lol.

Exactly, it says nothing. The Jerusalem council was about sorting out what was required of gentiles who were coming to Christ. No mention of circumcision; no mention of Sabbath observance. Don't you think this would've been the perfect time to say something if Sabbath observance was expected of gentiles?

the Jerusalem council in act 15 made a statement because there was an argument about circumcision (law of Moses) and that is all, it was not about defining all that christians have to do in this life. they kept 4 items that we know about BUT they did not mention anything else. we should not conclude anything else from the council directives for gentiles.

Jesus why Jesus who has today FULL authority in Heaven and earth said to enter into life to keep the ten commandments and anything else he commanded at that time.

we know the original apostles and even Paul keep the commandments.

I will provide all clear bible texts as references if you need

the matter is settled by scripture and Jesus' full authority. we keep all Jesus commanded us to keep or we are not Christians at all if we cannot obey Jesus who is God.

Where does the bible record that Cain was told not to murder? If he did not know it was wrong then God made a mistake punishing him for something there was no law against.
Were the peoples of Sodom and Gomorrah evil? When were they given a law that stated "Thou shalt not commit adultery"
"Where no law is there can be no transgression."

plenty of evidence plenty that we have to keep the Ten commandments as is they are the covenant ad God dictated, the new way of God puting them in the hearts and minds of His true followers, if you want biblical proofs I will provide.

just think why the ten commandments were places INSIDE the Ark of the Covenant, and not the rest ps the law of Moses, it was placed outside. there ia a reason for that.

what sits on top of the ark? the mercy seat! where once a year the Priest would sprinkle blood of a sin atonement sacrifice, does this ring a bell with jesus shedding His bliood to atone for OUR sins? the ten commandments defines sin! they are erernal because GOD said so!

The Bible clearly identifies two distinct systems of law: the moral law of Ten Commandments, which is eternal and immutable, and the ceremonial law, which was a temporary system of types and shadows pointing to Christ.

Understanding which law is being quoted by Paul is essential to understand the texts.

The moral law, known as the Ten Commandments, was spoken by God’s own voice and written with His own finger on tables of stone. It is the transcript of His character and is as unchangeable as His throne.

Written by God: Exodus 31:18.

Complete in Itself: it is recorded that "he added no more" Deuteronomy 5:22.

Eternal Duration: Jesus affirmed its perpetuity, saying, "Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled" Matthew 5:18. This can not apply to the ceremonial laws.

The Ceremonial Law: Types and Shadows
In contrast, the ceremonial law was given because of man's transgression of the moral law. It consisted of sacrifices and ordinances that prefigured the death of Christ. This law was written by Moses in a book and placed by the side of the ark, not inside it. Deuteronomy 31:26.

A Shadow of Christ: "For the law having a shadow of good things to come"
.. Hebrews 10:1.

Temporary Nature: These carnal ordinances were "imposed on them until the time of reformation" Hebrews 9:10.

Abolished at the Cross: When Christ died, the system of types met its antitype. He "blotted out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us... nailing it to his cross" Colossians 2:14.

This passage beautifully distinguishes between what God spoke directly and what He gave through Moses:

"Thou (God) camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments: And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant." Nehemiah 9:13-14.

Here, the "right judgments" and "holy sabbath" (the moral law) are distinguished from the "precepts... by the hand of Moses" (the ceremonial law).

God describes how the people rejected His life-giving moral laws, leading to the imposition of the ceremonial yoke:

"Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths... Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live." Ezekiel 20:24-25.

The "statutes that were not good" refers to the burdensome ceremonial yoke Acts 15:10 given because they broke the "good" moral statutes.

While the ceremonial law is described as "enmity" and abolished, the moral law remains holy:

Ceremonial: "Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances" Ephesians 2:15.

Moral: "Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good" Romans 7:12.

There is no "day of worship" on the Sabbath requirement in the OT. It was simply a day of rest from work. It also happened to be the day men went to the synagogues.
There is no "day of worship" on Sunday requirement in the NT. Scripture simply says that's the day the early Christians met.
