We need to be more Biblical than that.
"Muslims" are not a "great city" or a place "where also our Lord was crucified".
They were not judged after the law of Moses in the presence of 2 witnesses called the 2 olive branches and 2 candlesticks and bearing the signs of Moses and the OT prophets.
It is not appropriate that they ever will be judged in this manner, because they have never lived under Moses' law.
Muslims did not have a manipulative "friendship" with Rome, and the ten deputy rulers of Rome did turn against them hating and destroying them wile taking upon themselves great authority.
The story is so much like the first century siege and destruction of Jerusalem that it would be very dishonest to ignore the obvious connection.
So what about the prophets?
Zechariah was not speaking of the Muslims when he said "The Lord look upon it, and require it" after they stoned him to death in the temple (2 Chronicles 24:20-22).
Uriah, friend of Jeremiah, was executed with a sword in Jerusalem.
Jeremiah himself Beaten and put in stocks (Jeremiah 20:2), Thrown into a muddy cistern (Jeremiah 38:6), wished he had never been born (Jeremiah 20:14–18), And yet, he kept speaking.
Jezabel hunted and killed many prophets of God (1kings 18:4).
John the baptist beheaded, Jesus crucified ("for it cannot be that a prophet would perish outside of Jerusalem" Luke 13:33).
Too many prophets were killed in Jerusalem to list them all here but I hope you get the idea that in the first century Jerusalem was without doubt the worlds capital for murdering prophets.
It is also apostate Jerusalem that is repeatedly called a "Harlot" throughout the OT.
e.g. Isaiah 1:21 "How is the faithful city become an harlot!"
So if it is really the Bible that guides our views and not our views interpreting the Bible subjectively,
we will have to be honest and admit that the great city of Rev. 17 and 18 is thoroughly identified as first century Jerusalem.
When the Bible talks about the "Harlot" in Revelation 17 & 18, it tells you several times that it's referring to a BABYLON system in Revelation 17:5, Revelation 18:2, Revelation 18:10, and Revelation 18:21.
Revelation 18:3 - For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
It's talking about the whole earth.
If it was really the Bible that guided your views, and if you really wanted to be honest with yourself about Jerusalem, you'd stop ignoring what it says:
- Amos 9:15 — "And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God."
- Jeremiah 30:3 — "For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it."
- Jeremiah 31:28 — "And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD."
- Jeremiah 12:15 — "And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land."
- Jeremiah 24:6 — "For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up."
- Jeremiah 32:41 — "Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul."
- Jeremiah 31:4–5 — "I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. I will build thee again, and thou shalt be built; O thou virgin Israel: thou shalt be brought forth with music of tabrets."
- Jeremiah 23:3 — "For I will bring again the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have compassion on the dwellings of him; and the city shall be built upon her own heap, and the palace shall remain in her proper place."
- Ezekiel 36:24 — "For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you together from all countries, and will bring you into your own land."
- Deuteronomy 30:5 — "The LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers."
