huh I must have natural page turning fingers that I don't need to lick when reading books. Also, use your fingernails and brush the edges with pads of your fingers

The only pages I find hard sometimes to turn are the really thin tissue Bible ones. But if you use/read them often, they become easier to find your place. Also Bible tabs for the different books really help, as do bookmarks. Don't dog ear the pages! Even just a scrap of paper or envelope or folded piece of junk mail/note paper can serve as a bookmark

true. a fine line exists always in commenting. yes, we can joke about correction but we can also discern when someone is not joking. my wife hates when i correct her grammar!!! hahaha

Your "bugbear" is the direct result of you having fallen deeply into the "authoritarian propaganda" - which proposes that only [government sanctioned] 'authority' knows what they are talking about or may give appropriate 'advice' or 'correction' to others on any topic whatsoever.

This is why the world is in the shape it is in - because common folk have been deceived into believing that father, mother, brother, sister, pastor, sibling, neighbor, fellow coworker, etc. are "unfit" to give advice/council/correction to another human being - unless, of course, their brain has been turned into mush by the propaganda so that they are 100% compliant with government mandates for what is considered "appropriate" for the souls of men.

There is no person alive that you cannot learn something from - or that cannot learn something from you.

One day you may appreciate the 'correction' from some homeless stranger on the street who just kept you from stepping out in front of a fast moving bus.

Only governments through propaganda convince weak-minded individuals that only the government "knows" what is right - and that the people do not.

Did the janitor at your school ever 'correct' you on anything? Did you listen and consider it - or, did you look down your nose at him thinking that "someone of his stature" cannot possibly know what he is talking about?

There are various types of 'correction' - at least some of which come from various places and are always appropriate if given with the proper intent.

Some people give you 'correction' because they actually care whether or not you go through life well-informed of the truth instead of being zombified and made clueless by the monstrous amount of propaganda that we are all bombarded with every day.

I'm a Christian, Jesus gives me His authority to speak or write on whatever matters He deems important when it pertains to Scripture. I always pray that I am imparting His truth when I give a word of wisdom etc, that is not actually my opinion...

What we take away from it, or how we interpret it can vary.

I wasn't talking about that kind of 'correction' though. It's more hey have you looked at this Scripture and have you read this story in the Bible, what do you think about it? I learned something and it helped me....

Our rich housewives live in a suburb called Remuera, or St Heliers, there is one street where the uber wealthy used to have their homes, called Paratai Drive. I cleaned house for a lady living in Remmers as we call it, but she was originally from Manhattan, NYC, married a kiwi, had 4 children and got divorced. Her husband left her to go live on Great Barrier Island (alone) and she lived in a large old villa that took about 5 hours to clean.

Oh gosh ! U have lived a varied and interesting life Lanolin . Yes , I'm sure the Auckland Housewives was a mickey take , it might b on the web somewhere . One of the ladies was an extra in Xena Warrior princess but she never mentioned it on the Housewives show . I know it was her because I have Xena on dvd .

We played in the same dirt, played with the same toys, drank from the same dipper and water bucket, shared our hankies, bathed in the same tub of water, used the same bat and ball, even shared our milkshake with our favorite girls, my sisters and their girlfriends all shared makeup, clothes, etc., I can go on and on, but you get the picture. We never worried about germs. Most of us have lived into our late 70s and 80s, and many are still alive today.

Time has taken all the real fun out of life.

What do I find yucky? Green pureed vegetable health food drinks. Just give me an old fashion strawberry milkshake malt drink. I'll share it with Mama. Same straw.

You're not supposed to savor those. You're supposed to toss them down as fast as possible. It's a way to make it easier to ingest your greens, not more delectable.

And times have changed obvs. You didn't grow up in a time of...HIV..and now Corona. Your water wasn't contaminated with...giardia.
A lot of introduced infectious/contagious diseases have decimated various populations that never had immunity to them. esp indigenous populations.

'We' I suppose is the Baby Boomer generation which 'we' (those who are not) feel brag all the time about how great 'they' had it and rub 'our' noses into how much fun 'we' don't get to have anymore!

I'm still alive today and I'm in my 40s but only by a hair...that I haven't swallowed in my food.

My mum would chew food for me and get me to swallow it when I was young, as mamas do with their chicks. Same spoon. Also we shared toilet paper. Well... unused.

Opshops are our friends. We shared shoes.

Hospitals are a nightmare though. Talk about disgusting food. if mum couldn't eat it, she gave it to me to eat. mmm slop. But it was better than nothing.

When I entered the geriatric ward, or the rest home with all the oldies (still alive in their 70s and 80s and 90s) they mostly had dementia, and would some would throw their food on the ground and yell at the nurses. Arrgh!

I'll take my greens (and most other vegetables) cooked in a little fat, a touch of salt, a little pepper sauce, served with a pone of cornbread and lima beans. I'll take a tall glass of iced tea to wash it down.

Chinese food is maybe 70-80% greens/veges, 20-30% meat.

The only thing I don't eat is chickens feet, and maybe sharks fin and pig trotters.
I eat fish heads, so...all food is cooked, unlike Japanese who eat fish raw.

Also we cook our veges, and we don't do slimy salads. ew.

we shared bath water as little ones, drank out of each others glasses & shared soap. i don't know about anything else. my wife & i don't drink out of the same glass, in fact we don't share anything, except the bed.
