Obeying the Torah.

Some think that obeying the Torah is necessary for Christians, in spite of obvious contradictions between law and grace. One simple example is circumcision. The Torah demands it, Paul says it is wrong to make it a condition of salvation.

I read a passage in Deuteronomy many years ago but I did not realise what it meant in practice, It reads,

"You must be sure to set aside a tenth of all the produce brought forth each year from your fields. And you are to eat a tenth of your grain, new wine, and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks, in the presence of the LORD your God at the place He will choose as a dwelling for His Name, so that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always."

"But if the distance is too great for you to carry that with which the LORD your God has blessed you, because the place where the LORD your God will choose to put His Name is too far away, then exchange it for money, take the money in your hand, and go to the place the LORD your God will choose. Then you may spend the money on anything you desire: cattle, sheep, wine, strong drink, or anything you wish. You are to feast there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice with your household. And do not neglect the Levite within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance among you.

At the end of every three years, bring a tenth of all your produce for that year and lay it up within your gates. Then the Levite (because he has no portion or inheritance among you), the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow within your gates may come and eat and be satisfied. And the LORD your God will bless you in all the work of your hands." Deuteronomy 14: 22-29

This same chapter includes the food laws that some observe even now. So how many of you Torah followers obey this command? Where now has God chosen to put His name? Do you give 10% of your income to the Levites? Do you know any Levites? I've never met one.

The problem with law is that there are no exceptions. "Do this and live". The corollary is disobey and die as so many Israelites discovered to their cost.

My wife and I are blessed financially. We have a certain amount that we can give. We give as the Lord leads us, not where a set of rules demand that we give. This is not a boast. The Law demands a percentage. Grace says that everything we have came from God and He asks us to use it for the extension of His Kingdom. So in that sense, 100% of what we have belongs to God. But it is also our choice, not under compulsion. That is the difference.

Those who live under law must search the scriptures to find out what they are obliged to do. Those led by the Spirit give according to God's plan and purpose. I know which I prefer.​

Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

We do not go by the physical ordinances of Israel anymore and do not go by the physical laws anymore.

Romans 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Love is the only law we go by in the New Testament which love fulfills the law.

The Bible says it is the circumcision of the heart for it is spiritual now not fleshy.

Ezekiel 11:19-20
And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

That they may walk in My statutes, and keep Mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be My people, and I will be their God.

The New Covenant is the Torah written upon a new heart that His people would be able to Keep it.

Hebrews 8:10 - Quoting Jeremiah 31:33
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith YHWH; I will put My Torahs into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them God, and they shall be to Me a people:

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work Anomia. Matthew 7:23

Anomia = Without Law - Without Torah

The Greek word Anomia is found 13 times

Matthew 7:23 is the first time

The last two times Anomia is found

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4

Why will Jesus say unto Many that call Him Lord, I never knew you?

They were never born again, thus they were not able to keep the Law.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God neither indeed can be. Romans 8:7

False witnesses said Paul did not keep the Law-Torah after he was born again.

Acts 21:24 Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.

Paul did what was asked of him to prove he kept the Torah.

Can someone show me the lawless covenant in the scriptures for which YESHUA-JESUS is the Mediator?

Those that are New Creations Keep the Torah Because they are saved, Those that are not born again can't keep it.

He that began the work in the redeemed will complete it, and that is conforming them into the image of His Son, To walk as He walked,

How did YESHUA walk, He kept the Torah

Messiah-Christ is the Telos-End Goal of the Torah for Righteousness to all who believe. Romans 10:4

Being led by the Spirit is superior to any external instructions. Yes, there is a good deal of instruction on how to live in the New Testament. If people walked in the Spirit from the first day of the new birth, there would be no need for instruction.

If we find that we are unable to follow the instructions, we need to seek God for the answer. Unforgiveness is a huge problem in the church. Countless believers suffer torment because they do not forgive. Knowing that they must forgive does not empower them to forgive. And that is the difference between law and grace. If the unforgiving sought the help of Jesus, He would show them how to forgive.
