Hello friends, I am a programmer. If anyone has a project, I can collaborate for free so that I can build my resume and find a job, and also help you.

May you be under God’s protection.

Howdy and welcome to the forum.

(I don't need anything programmed, so this question is more for information for other people who might read this thread..)
What platforms do you code for, and what kind of programming do you do? Web pages? Android apps?

I also work on web development, mainly backend, as well as Android development with Kotlin. I’m still a beginner, and I’d like to contribute to the Christian community while also gaining real-world experience and building my resume.

I used to use a program called "Karen's Replicator" to copy all of my data files on my Windows based computer to a 2nd location. Karen died and at some point her program would no longer work.

I then found Synctoy that a Microsoft employee wrote while on the job. It still works and is still available, but is no longer updated so there may come a time when it won't work either.

For many years I invested a lot of money in backup systems but those systems often failed me when it came time to do a restore. I came to the conclusion that simple replication of the data files was a much safer way to ensure I had a backup I could use.

Creating a simple replication program would be a worthy and useful program.

Top Freeware Alternatives
• FreeFileSync: A free, open-source tool that compares and synchronizes local folders, network shares, and Google Drive. It supports mirror, update, two-way sync, and batch jobs. Users on DPReview Forums agree that it is an effective, user-friendly replacement for SyncToy's basic replication tasks.
• SyncBack (Free Edition): A reliable backup and file synchronization utility that handles automated profiles, scheduled backups, and detailed rule configurations.
• Syncthing: An open-source, peer-to-peer file synchronization tool that continuously syncs files between multiple devices in real time without needing a central cloud server.
• Robocopy: A built-in Windows command-line utility that executes fast, scriptable mirroring and backup jobs, though it lacks a native graphical user interface (GUI) unless paired with a third-party wrapper.
• DSynchronize: A lightweight, portable utility that periodically synchronizes two or more specified folders automatically.

Thanks, Lynx. I don't know if I've investigated all in that list but no of no other reasonable alternative to Synctoy at the moment. A lot of freeware doesn't deliver all it appears to indicate, and a lot of it is also very limited unless you pay for it.

After Karen died I couldn't find any freeware alternative to her Replicator until I stumbled upon Synctoy, which I'm still using at the moment.
