I meant people who follow Christ. I didn't think the term Christian typically applied to cults.

There doesn't have to be a singular belief though. I'm sure there are tools for Lutherans that Methodists are less likely to use.

Let me know if there's a better way to communicate that as I'd definitely like to know!

Non-Christian cult followers refer and present themselves as Christian, and there are a lot of actual Christians who don't know the difference. Throw in the other factors even among Christians that I listed above, and we're back to a biased and flawed platform depending on who is developing it.

I'm not advocating that ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude will be good stewards of scripture or biblical advice. I am advocating though, that Christians can create tools using this technology which are.

Sycophant. Thank you for the term.

I agree that AI can also be used for good and Christians can create tools using this technology. However, if we rely on AI to get deeper in the Word instead of relying on the Holy Spirit, then that is dangerous and cannot have a good outcome.

I think your point is that even though technology is used, it is still the Word of God which is going to be the focus. That's a good point and also my concern is that AI-based Bible or interpretation without the Holy Spirit will be just information like all information out there. AI doesn't know the end from the beginning. Only God does. Also, what looks good may not be the good that God wants you to do. Can AI have discernment? What I am trying to say is that relying on good technology to help someone grow in the Lord can have a negative impact. There are preachers who preach the Word incorrectly because they don't rely on God to understand the Scriptures but on their own understanding or have their own agenda. AI will be trained on the human understanding and agenda of the Word.

I listened to a podcast where it was said that Gen Zs are the most anxious generation and depressed because they have access to unlimited information. This tells me how important it is to limit the use of technology and information.

Thank you for this interesting thread that you have started.

On youtube, some channels have been using Ai voices to read out written sermons or books from good preachers of the past. One very obvious problem is, there is none of God's spirit in the voice (no Godly unction or power). This can never be successfully faked, whether humans or Ai try to do it. The listeners would be better off to read the original sermon. These Ai-read messages will only kill the spirit.

Interesting observation. I had not thought about it from this perspective.

@Citizen If I understand correctly, you're saying that trust comes in an order...perhaps something like this.
1. scripture
2. your pastor
3. teachers and leaders you know or trust
4. platforms you trust

That's a very interesting way to think about it. For those who use platforms, how do we establish trust with them?

Great question. Just speaking for myself, even with platforms/sites I use or pastors/teachers I listen to, I will still never blindly put my trust in them... ever. I will always be a Berean and test everything. Thinking about it this way: I can use an AI platform and have to continually test it for truth because of the very real potential for bias and manipulation OR I can save myself the time and effort and just go directly to the source of truth, which is obviously the Bible. If I want to gather together scriptures on a particular topic or keywords, I'm just going to use a simple search database.

When you said earlier that you meant only 'followers of Christ', that is a very large category, my friend, and there are churches/people out there who call themselves Christian yet do not believe in the Biblical gospel. That is the reality we live in.

One thing that is often overlooked is the context of the NT times. What did the average person know without having to have it specifically referenced? Most Christian sources have to get past some "Statement of Faith", which does not always recognize certain truths, such as the "Great Councils" of the church were held to determine who got imperial funding and who was left out, yet we know use them to determine what a "true " Christian believes. Does a "true Christian" worry about who gets money from the government?

To be clear, my expectation is that everything points to the Bible. Sermons, studies ... and for the context of this conversation - chats with AI. I think relying on AI to explain or discern the meaning of scripture and trust it blindly is extremely foolish. I don't think our views are *that* different.

I think the conversation about "true Christian" needs a thread all to its own!

Hi jmathai a late welcome but nevertheless, welcome to CC! I see you are a seeker of the Truth and that's a good thing. When I say I'm a Christian, it means I am 'In Christ' and have the 'mind of Christ...the Holy Spirit'. What's the saying 'don't throw the baby out with the bathwater', lol. Lots of people are leaving the beautiful rainbow behind, why, bc to some it means the gay world. I use it as a chance to tell people, no, it means just the opposite, a sign from God that He'll never destroy the 'whole' world again. God bless you and your endeavors!👏🙌

AI claimed Jesus is the only true God.

This is the answer I got directly from Grok after asking who is the one true God:

There is no single, objectively verifiable answer. Claims about “the one true God” are matters of faith, theology, and philosophy rather than empirical demonstration. Different traditions assert mutually exclusive or overlapping claims, and no method exists to prove one over the others to universal satisfaction.

Major monotheistic perspectives

  • Judaism: The God of Israel, referred to by the Tetragrammaton (YHWH, often rendered Yahweh or the Lord). Strictly singular, without partners or incarnations. The Shema (“Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one”) is central.
  • Christianity: The God of the Bible, understood by most denominations as a Trinity—one God in three persons (Father, Son/Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit). Continuity is claimed with the God of the Hebrew scriptures, with the New Testament presenting Jesus as the unique revelation and incarnation.
  • Islam: Allah (Arabic for “the God”), described as strictly singular (tawhid), eternal, and without partners, offspring, or equals. Muslims view this as the same God worshipped by Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, corrected from later alterations. The Quran is the final revelation.
  • Other Abrahamic or related traditions (Baháʼí, certain Unitarian views, etc.) affirm one God while differing on prophets, scriptures, or details of nature.

I didn't try it myself as I don't use Grok or others like ChatGPT, but the video I shared has this response from Grok:Screenshot_20261002_193638_DuckDuckGo.jpg

That's how, IMO, a secular AI product ought to respond. I'm interested in how faith-based AI products might be used to further the kingdom. That's not the intended purpose of Grok, ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude.

This thread has really encouraged and challenged me. I have created a Redemptive AI scorecard for a product I've been working on personally and would love to get your all's thoughts. https://trysojourn.app/redemptive-ai/

No worries. Just to dig a bit deeper myself, I asked Grok to show me an image of Jesus Christ, allah, and hindu gods together. The resulting image was Jesus Christ, allah symbol [Grok will not render a person for allah], and hindu gods. I then asked Grok to remove the false gods from the image, and it removed only the hindu gods and left Jesus Christ and the allah symbol.

To address what the video presented, I asked Grok "Is Jesus Christ a fake god?". Answer -

No single, objective answer exists. Whether Jesus Christ is considered a “fake god,” the true God, a prophet, a historical teacher, or something else depends entirely on the religious, philosophical, or secular framework one accepts. There is no empirical test that settles the question for everyone.

Grok may possibly give different answers depending on how questions are asked, or it's possible that whoever created the video "led" Grok to answer in a particular way or falsified the result. Not sure.

AI is a tool that can be used for good or bad depending on how it has been programed
If it has been programed with a conscience its safer than one with out a conscience. In other words it needs limits that block it from doing acts that could harm humans. However if a current AI programs a new AI version of itself then humans are not in control of it any more. It could copy itself to other devices and robots then humans are not in control of it any more. Even if AI is programed to be safe some one could download the AI and reprogram it to do what they want it to do.

Genesis 1:27
New International Version
27 So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

Now humans are creating AI robots but humans are corrupted with sin

Romans 3:23
New International Version
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

2 Timothy 3:1-4
New International Version
3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—

It will be used for both good things and bad things depending on people how they chose to use it and how its been programed. AI could also program itself so it is capable of harming us

There are only two sides to choose from sheep (Christian)(light)(forgiven)(follower of Jesus)
or the goat (Non Christian)(darkness)(rebelling)(follower of the devil)

Matthew 25:32
New International Version
32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

John 1:5
New International Version
5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Acts 3:19
New International Version
19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

John 8:12
New International Version
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
