I'm trying to find my old car thread on the forums but nothing came up.
So I thought I would try here and possibly man-trap a few.

Let's talk about CARS!!!!!

Honda vs Toyota?
Electric or Gas?
Hybrid?

Worst car ever....
SUVs or Silly Useless Vehicles

Utes or minivans?

Who drives a Ford Ranger?

Are Asian drivers truly the worst? I say that as an 'Asian'
I drove a Ranger from 2000 till 2006.
Dark blue, small V6, automatic trans.
Short cab and long bed.
I never had any problems with it.

Wow they look huge (I googled it). Is yours white or have you decorated it?
Mine is a white-plain-Jane-incogneto-one in a million-nondescript-home away from home.
Still under 70,000 miles too.
In twenty years, I have had no accidents with it...though it did suffer being shot up by the sheriff deputies when my neighbor did a suicide by cop.
But what is a little thing like that, between friends ?

One of my cousins drives a Subaru as her company car. Not sure what model, but its big and got all the tech. Might be an Outback.

My gardening boss drove Isuzu ute but I don't see them around much these days.

Now a lot of company cars are full EVs, or PHEVs but they have to provide charging bays for them at the worksite. The fleet I've seen at the hospital is all Hyundai Ioniqs.

Korean cars are really coming into their own, but the Chinese are building their EVs from scratch now (I mean, not converting ICEs to EVs) thus they are lighter and the design is more responsive. And possibly cheaper thanks to mass production.

Still Japanese imports are tops in NZ.

In terms of luxury...BMW is pretty hard to beat. Mercedes, Audi...I'm not that keen on.
Or Tesla. Something about their door handles doesn't make sense to me.
I have a bmw. But it's a small one, not one of the big luxurious ones. I agree about the tesla door handles. They look good but are very awkward to use in my opinion.

What does everyone do for music in their cars? Hook up to phone? USB? Just listen to the radio? Make up your own songs? Still use CDs or ...cassette tapes?

When I commuted I listened to am talk radio, sometimes Christian talk radio. I was a long commute through lots of stop and go traffic. When I used to drive to the beach or other places I'd listen to music on the radio or to my CDs,, but sometimes I'd listen to talk radio because there was this guy who liked to talk about food, wine and cooking and there was another guy who talked about computers and digital cameras, and they were only on during the weekend. I don't drink but I like learning about wine. There was also a doctor who gave health tips and medical advice on the weekends. Gosh I miss that old talk radio station. It's still there but now they talk about stuff I don't care about. And I don't get to drive for pleasure anymore.

Remember ipods? Didn't there used to be a special dock for them you could put in your car.
I never had one, but I did have a random no brand USB that I quickly got bored of.

People still listen to podcasts, even though they don't make ipods anymore.

Radio used to be much better IMHO.
God only knows how many hours I even spent listening to AM. An AM station was my go to for health classes from some excellent Nutritionists.

AA magazine came today. Was looking at the new cars available

A lot of SUV crosses and hybrids now

Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid
Kia EV4
Forthing Taikon ( a new Chinese brand?)
Honda Prelude
Mini Countryman JCW ALL4
Volkswagen T-ROC

Not sure I like the fad for skinny headlights that are more like strips.

I have to confess. The only reason I have a bmw is because it was my dad's and when he passed away it became mine. But he actually bequeathed it to me before his health started to decline. 🥺

my dad has Mitsubishi Lancer. My sister is driving it.

She got first dibs even though my bros are hinting she ought to buy her own car.

I've driven it but I don't feel comfortable driving my dad's car. I prefer my own.
