Sorry @2ndTimeIsTheCharm sometimes your posts are WAY off.

In the way you interpret people's motivations. I have noticed this a couple of times with you and it's only right that I call you out on it.

As I've said several times before, it's not the fact that we should test the spirits I'm questioning, but rather the method of testing.

If this method of testing is acceptable, it should work on any one of us, right?

I've already said I personally would fail it -- so I guess people should think I don't hear from God.

@2ndTimeIsTheCharm, I'm thinking of a name.

I wrote it down so I can't change it. I'll even give a few hints that should completely give it away -- it's someone I used to know, and it's spelled in a unique way -- so in order to get the answer right, it has to be presented in the exact way that person spelled it.

God knows what that name is.

What does it mean if/when you can't give me that name by the end of today?

I'm not going around claiming God talks to me audibly and casually like Karlon has. In my situation there is no spirit to test. You just mad.

Why has this upset you when God said to test the spirits? It's for our own protection against being gullible and deceived. And it is also obedience to the Lord.

Lol!

I'm not mad.

I've said multiple times I believe in testing the spirits -- and, once again, my beef is with the method of "Give me the name I'm thinking" is seen as an appropriate one.

So I'm asking these things to try to find out why you believe it is.

Testing the spirits? Absolutely. I most definitely believe in that.

But this particular way of testing?

Not at all.

Yes.

Someone said he hears the audible voice of God and now it's being demanded that this person give the name that someone else is thinking in 3 days.

Sunday was the last day.

The thing is, this person never claimed to be a prophet, never tried to give any words of prophecy, and never claimed to be getting messages from God for other people.

He simply expressed that he believed this was a way that God communicated to him, presumably about his own life and not others.

The author of the thread, who is setting the demand, has not set forth what the consequence will be for the person who doesn't produce the name, though someone asked about this.

So we're all waiting to see what happens tomorrow.

I'm assuming the author of the thread is going to declare the other person a false prophet and a liar?

But as stated, he never claimed to be a prophet or to have a word for anyone else to begin with.

Thank you for explaining that so well.
I was curious when this came up but hadn't read all 9 pages. Maybe this should be on the Christian channel. 📺 😄👍

If anyone is not sure of a spirit that is speaking of them and claiming they are from God. There is a method to test his outlined in Scripture I suggest you check out 1 John 4:1-3

In my experience, God speaking with me out loud is because I was pretty deaf at the time lol

Also, what about that still small voice - that is also the Holy Spirit.

When He was talking with Elijah.

And note that God showed himself through Jesus (and Peter and John) on the mountain top when Jesus was transfigured. It wasn't like He was doing this in secret and hiding Himself.

Ok then, this is an open invitation to ANYONE here who claims to hear from God.

Again, I'm thinking of a name.

It's someone I used to know.

I'll even give you the name itself -- it's Rochelle.

Thing is, she spelled it in a very unique way.

So -- what's the spelling? Can anyone who claims to hear from God give it to me by the end of today?

It should be easy peasy if people really hear from God, right?

My whole point in this is:

1. YES, I absolutely, wholeheartedly, without a doubt, believe in testing the spirits. I've never once had an issue with that in this thread, or ever.

2. My question is that I've been asking with my last several posts -- WHY would this (as it's similar to the test Jacob gave to Karlon) be seen as an APPROPRIATE and USEFUL test of the spirits?

As in, should we be using this test on everyone who claims to hear from God? Why isn't anyone going into the BDF and using this exact test on everyone there who claims to hear from God?

And if God doesn't give anyone out there the exact spelling of the name as is being asked, does that mean no one here actually hears from God?

That's all I'm asking.

No, I'm not mad.

I'm just trying to ask what I thought was a very clear-cut question, and I'm hoping to get a real answer.

Also, I have never claimed that *I* spoke for God. I am not His mouthpiece.

God spoke to me, but He didn't say I had to tell others what He told me. It doesn't apply to them, unless you were sinning in the way I was...!!

I agree with this test.

I'm just saying that if God really does talk to someone, He doesn't mind being tested and prove He talks to a particular person as can be shown with Moses when Aaron and Miriam challenged him in Numbers 12:1-8

So everyone saying that God doesn't want to be tested or shouldn't can know that He has done it before and would be willing to stand up for a friend He actually talks to.

I have already posted what another guy experienced with God speaking to him, if you care to read a previous post on it. He shared his experience with other Christians by writing a book about it.

It's not the method God chooses to speak with me, but I advise if you are seeking Him...to keep knocking on His door. Like the widow, she persisted until she got her answer.
you speak with faith!

Still making excuses for Karlon? Why not protect him from that spirit? You're just enabling that spirit to continue to deceive Karlon. It isn't God or the Holy Spirit.

🕊️
" you're just....... deceive Karlon"? not a chance. i tell you 2ndTimeIsTheCharm, no spirit is deceiving me. i totally know the Holy Spirit speaks to me: the voice we all Christians hear in our heads & there my voice. thanks.

I think some people, maybe all of us, should go read the first few verses of 1 John 4 where we're told to test the spirits and the test to use (it's not guess the name).

As for that episode with Moses, the passage says that their criticism was about his marriage and thinking they had the same status with God he did (hasn't god spoken through us too?). At no point did they question that moses heard from God (all 3 heard from God in that passage). And while God stood up for Moses, considering what he said about his unique relationship with Moses, I'd be very cautious about extrapolating God's behavior to other situations.

I have never heard an audible voice from God and I'm happy with that. We walk by faith, not by sight.

That said, God makes His presence known to me in ways that are big blessings and very clear.

Yes, I get that we're supposed to test the spirits.

But I don't think asking people to guess the name you're thinking in 3 days -- or else you must not hear from God -- is a Biblical test.

God said test the spirits -- but He didn't say to test them by demanding that He perform the kind of tricks you see played by fortune tellers as a carnival.

If Jacob asked the same question to ALL the people on this forum -- "Give me the name I'm thinking of in 3 days" -- of EVERYONE here that claims to have heard something from God, how many would pass?

Would you?

And does that mean that all here who can't produce the name Jacob's is thinking have never heard from God?

And if NO ONE here passes -- does that mean not a single person here ever hears from God?
i assent. its easy to figure that his attempt on testing is not godly. i will say he makes me laugh one how he postures himself as some false leader, authority or boss in this situation. he reminds of cops when they say, "YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE ME YOUR ID", or " YOU WILL GIVE ME YOUR INFORMATION"!

If you agree with the test clearly laid out in 1 John then I assume you are fine with @Jacobfaith using that method to test @Karlon, rather than the alternate method @Jacobfaith still hasn't provided scriptural basis for.

If you are not, then why not?
