I am 50 and relate to the older people in life. Looking for mature Christian conversations.

Thank you for reading and sharing 🙏

Hi @JulieM!

I'm in my 50's as well.

We actually have a lot of older members here. You might want to check out Singles, Family, and Miscellaneous if you're looking for more "life conversation" type threads.

Sometimes we don't hear from our older members as much because everyone is so busy with life and family.

But I hope you'll find some topics of interest to join and meet people!

Welcome to CC. :)

Good morning Julie, what is on your mind? Please be patient though, I am making a large batch of chili for both eating today and canning for later this year.
Good morning Rewriter, I feel that my husband is starting to cheat on me with the new girl at work. He changed his daily showering routine. And trust is a large issue in our short marriage.

No worries on the chili. It sounds great! Perfect for this time of year!

Trust is important in a marriage. Have you asked your husband about the changes in his hygiene habits, there might be an innocent cause. Also do you have reason to suspect that he is the type of person who would cheat?

Unfortunately, I do not know either you or your husband so I cannot judge whether your concern is realistic or not, that you have the concern is very real though. When I was much younger, I did not have the self-confidence to believe that a girlfriend would be true to me, and thus worried that they were going out with another guy when they were not available, usually wrongly, but I also know that some people do cheat.

Is there anything specific I can do to support you online, I will pray for you for strength and that your husband is staying true, but beyond that I need some guidance from you.

And the chili is delicious, it will make a good addition to the bean soup, spaghetti sauce, giardiniera, raisins, fried apples and applesauce I have already put up this fall season. Spicy Sausage and Spinach soup and a Seafood Chowder are on my list to make, as is banana bread as I found some inexpensive bananas yesterday, enough for definitely two loaves if not three. And yes, I do like cooking and baking, especially when I can get the ingredients on sale and make enough for both the present and the future.

I have been praying and crying all morning.

Hi Julie,

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Have you ever tried the live chat app? I'm on a laptop right now -- I hope this link works for you. I'm not sure if it will be different on a phone.

The live chat is a place where you can talk and type to people in real time.

Some people there also work in or have experience in ministry (I think Lovingkindness 7, one of the moderators, is a retired pastor, but I could be wrong.) There's usually someone there that is very Biblically knowledgeable.

I just wanted to mention it in case you also wanted to talk to people in real time.

I will be praying for you. 😔🙏🏼💐

Rewriter, yes I did ask him and yes I have reason for this, unfortunately.

So, I decided to take the high road and use my time to be productive and stay on God’s path.

I am currently searching for a job. I am looking to meet new friends, since we just moved up to a new area (for me). My husband is originally from this small town up in MI. I made the move for his dream to work then retire here.

My goals today are 2 groups online. A women’s support group for healing from abusive relationships and a Bible Study group.

I know that I am too intelligent and I have worked very hard on improving myself to fall to his low levels.

It has been a very turbulent marriage.

I know this is all happening for a greater purpose for me from God 🙏

That is wonderful to hear how much you love to cook and bake! What a gifted skill in both areas! I am glad to hear that it makes you so happy 😃

Oh Seoulsearch, thank you so much for reaching out to assist! Thank you. Thank you. 🙏 I did click on the link but nothing happened. I do need to talk live with others daily who love God.

Is there a cost for the chat app? I do not let have any funds for it, if so.

I don't believe there is a cost right now. I think there might be in the future, but I could be wrong (I haven't been there in a while, I'm not sure what's new.)

If you open a new window or tab on your phone and laptop, you should be able to type:

christianchat.com/app

It might depend on what you have though.

I think they're working on a separate app for Mac/Android, but I'm not sure.

There might be a cost to talk on the mic, but I believe typing is at least free. (It used to all be free but unfortunately, some people took advantage of it for nefarious purposes.)

@Lynx, if you get time, could you help Julie through the process?

(I'm terrible at tech... I always have to recruit @Lynx as tech support.) :D

If you have an abusive relationship in the past, or present, a support group is essential. People tend to repeat the mistakes they made going into previous such relationships and it becomes important to recognize where one is making a misstep. It does not cure all the problems, but it does reduce the total number.

And you are in a small town in Michigan, I hope it is not Lenawee County, I have a lot of relatives there, all with deep Michigan roots, pioneer family roots., and most live in small towns. There are lots of other relatives scattered around Michigan, but I tend to mostly concentrate on Lenawee County ones as my mother grew up there, so I met many while visiting my grandparents.

Differences in intelligence may or may not be an issue in a relationship. Relatively similar levels of intelligence are nice, but not necessary. But do not shortchange yourself, your husband married an intelligent woman, let him stay married to one.

As for Bbile study, there is a Bible Discussion Forum here, just about any theological stance you might be familiar with is likely present, as well as a few very different ones such as mine. I have studied the bible for over 50 years with a lot of emphasis on the "difficult" passages rather than on doctrines, as I was taught that if there is a problem, smoothing it over can create bad doctrine, but finding a way to resolve it in line with other such "problem" passages and those passages without clear issues. should lead one closer to the truth. It has not been easy, but I have gained respect from many who have been restricted in what they can say by having accepted some institution's "Statement of Faith", which limits what they can say, and thus do not delve too deeply. I just regret that my maverick attitude has kept me from some positions I would have liked to have held.
