TERROR PLOT FOILED: FBI Director Kash Patel highlighted a series of major investigations and arrests, including the disruption of an alleged ISIS-inspired mass-casualty plot targeting the Mall of America and the arrest of a Department of Energy employee accused of attempting to support the Houthis.
Patel also reported arrests tied to alleged Chinese espionage and the smuggling of more than $300 million in restricted U.S. technology to China. He said the FBI’s Operation Blackout has seized roughly $17 billion in connection with global scam networks, while a coordinated effort in New York located 34 missing children and teenagers in just three days.
Additional developments included charges against four non-citizens accused of illegally voting in the 2024 election, action against cybercriminal networks and the elimination of a 1.8 million-sample DNA backlog. Patel praised FBI field offices nationwide for their work combating terrorism, foreign threats, fraud and violent crime.
