I would simply not tolerate that. Two's company, three's a crowd.I have no idea if "most" parents go to that extreme.
But parents going along on your dates? Parents going on your honeymoon? That's wild. Personally, I've never heard of that.

I never asked the dad permission to date a daughter including permission to marry.So....have all the dads you asked let you date their daughters? What about the ones that said NO WAY. Or were they like, wait until she's mature, like IDK , 50 years old.
Which is just a roundabout way of saying 'Over my dead body'.
I never asked the dad permission to date a daughter including permission to marry.
Neither does it require marriage to know.It must be terrible having to live your entire life not knowing if you're a Christian.
It's also a truth universally acknowledged that this opening line was a sarcasm. It is a truth universally acknowledges that a single man in possession of a great fortune....something something something.
...must have won it gambling in Las Vegas?
...must spend it all on a lamborghini?
...must be lucky?
I wonder what 'eligble' means
I mean, how big a fortune are we talking about here. Enough to be listed in the Fortune 500 magazine?
But hold on, isn't the love of money the root of all marriages?
When you're involved in other people's lives, constantly messing around them and trifling with them. There's nothing more confusing and anxious than today's dating landscape, even if you put a Christian label on it.Probably a lifetime of confusion and anxiety.
The old fashioned way here is through match maker. Not professional agencies, but kindsman, friends, even coach, captain, colleague or other associates, somebody you know and trust. The match maker vouches for the mate's integrity, you go meet them out of respect for the match maker. Tragically, this way is mostly gone, though.I met my wife the old fashioned way. At a bar.
Whats the point of ask the dad when you are already dating her? What about the mum? Why don't you ask her mum?Personally, I've been on individual dates with women. Meaning first and second dates, and then we decided the relationship had no potential. In another case, I went on a first date with a woman who said she was interested but then ghosted and me and started dating someone else without bothering to tell me. This girl's mother actually gave me the girl's phone number once she noticed we liked each other.
So I've never even gotten to the "ask her dad" stage. If they would have said "no way," I would have just not bothered pursuing the girl in question. What's the point?
Who do you ask if there is no dad? I'm assuming the mum.Yeah, I'm sure many parents are comfortable with that, too. Or view it as not being their business. I'm not saying healthy marriages can never originate that way. I just think it's wise to get each other's families on board before committing, personally.
Whats the point of ask the dad when you are already dating her? What about the mum? Why don't you ask her mum?
Also, why would you write an entire book about it when you've only been on one or two dates...?
So what is an 'actual' date. A first date isn't a date? You aren't dating on a date?If you've met this girl and chatted in other social situations, you're not really "dating" her. If you go on a first date with someone, well, you're not really "dating" them yet, are you? But I would definitely talk to her parents before actually dating her as part of an actual, more established relationship.
And, sure, ask the Mom if the Dad is out of the picture for whatever reason.
Just because I'm single doesn't mean I'm clueless about dating or marriage. I've spent my whole life around people who date and marry, and, if these people are close friends, they involve me in that part of their lives. Everything I know about dating has come from observing other people or from reading about other people's stories.
In my experience, lots of Christians (and pastors), unlike me, have no idea what it's like to be single in their mid-twenties, late twenties, or thirties. That hasn't stopped them from talking to me about singleness.![]()

Nah, Steve had a completely different style. Is your REAL name Steve Epperson?
Steve was a guy who breezed in one day and started preaching at all of us about how we singles should live our lives. He didn't last long here.Huh? Who?![]()
