So what is an 'actual' date. A first date isn't a date? You aren't dating on a date?
You confuse me.

Sorry, don't mean to. There's people who go on a first date. Then there's people who are "dating," because they're going on continuous dates because the relationship is going places and has potential, and they're now "official." That's what I meant.

Also you didn't say what would make it 'official'. Church bulletin board? Announce it on CC? Prayer Chain/gossip group? Church newsletter handout?

No, I meant once you're actually "boyfriend" and "girlfriend." If I'm having a first date with a woman, she's not my girlfriend. If the date went well and we both want a second date, then we're making progress, but we're still not boyfriend and girlfriend. At some point, though you decide that you're a good fit and that the relationship has the potential for marriage, right?

That's what I meant.

Your church pastors got married in their teens???? What part of the world are you living in? Isn't that somewhat illegal?

I was talking about people who get married in their early twenties, like pastors, for example. Someone in their early twenties is not a teen.

The real questions you should seriesouly consider are, what will you do as a faithful Christian if you are to remain single for the rest of your life, having nobody "equally yoked" to marry? What will you do when the heathens and fake Christians seem to find hot dates and get married? What will you do when you're being rejected precisely because you're a Christian? No pastors will prepare you for these, but you have to be realistic.

The answer is God is sufficient. He is and will provide all one needs.
What will you do when the heathens and fake Christians seem to find hot dates and get married?
Stay away from them. Do not copy ungodly acts.
What will you do when you're being rejected precisely because you're a Christian?
That's wonderful. They already did.. God moved them out of my life..

The teaching of scripture prepares us for many life scenarios. Pastors job is faithfully teaching scripture. Out job is to follow scripture, God's word, not pastors.

pastors get married in their early twenties? Aren't they supposed to be grandparents?! If you want to be a bishop (or pastor) you need to be able to rule your household before you even think about telling others what to do.

And not be drunk. And only have one wife. No mistresses. But it seems a lot of pastors have mistresses, they just don't advertise the fact. Until someone finds out, and it splits the church.

What is being 'official' you mean, they get engaged right? And she's wearing a ring.

So on the third date you propose?

What madness is this?

Yeah. In my experience, pastors are always married, and they usually get married young. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

No, I mean being in an actual dating relationship. "Boyfriend and girlfriend."

And, no, I would advise against proposing on the third date.

It must be nice to be able to read hearts. I thought only Jesus could do that.

LOL!

Imagine the pressure to scrape up a ring by the 3rd date.

I suppose we could always go the old-fashioned route -- the Cracker Jacks box.

The guys just have to hope that the prize inside is a big, honkin' rhinestone ring.

As the female equivalent, I guess I'd have to present him with a PlayStation 5.

I don't have the money for that right now, so it's a good thing I'm single!!!

(And thanks to these tips in this thread, I know to bail after the 2nd date if I can't come up with a quality male dowry to be ready for the 3rd.) 🤣🤣🤣

P.S. @RodColeman -- Notice how this always circles back to POPCORN???!! 😆😎

I know, so funny!

"Forget the ring, Lonestar! I found it in a Cracker Jack Box!"

I only saw that in Breakfast at Tiffany movie

The cheapest diamond at Tiffany's was this stick used to dial a telephone.

Also, I recall Homer Simpson proposed to Marge with an onion ring. He also got a good job at the nuclear power plant, but lost his hair. They were Christians though, they always went to church.

So, the love of money is the root of all marriages?

You have to be able to afford it.

You can have financial wisdom without being "in love" with money.
And the Bible has plenty to say about financial wisdom.

But, yes, if you want to marry, you're going to have to be able to afford it. Love doesn't pay the bills. But, love should motivate you to figure out a way to pay the bills.

If you're married, things will often cost more. Like insurance, for instance. You need a place of your own to live.

Also, if you want to win over a woman's family, you have to show them that you can actually take care of her. Not that you want to take care of her. But that you actually can do it.

So you can't, so why are we even having this convo.

I'm not a guy and not planning on winning over a womans family lol.

Again you didn't answer my question, what does it mean to be 'official'

Its engagement right? I mean spell it out dude. If you cant afford a ring, no chance.

Women don't need 'taking care of'. Children do.

You seem to be mixing up women with girls. There is a difference.

Well, I said some things and you asked me some questions. That's why we're having a conversation.

I'm not a guy and not planning on winning over a woman's family lol.

Sorry. Honestly forgot. I don't come across your username often.

Again you didn't answer my question, what does it mean to be 'official'

I mean being in an actual dating relationship. "Boyfriend and girlfriend." Where you're making progress and have a trajectory towards engagement and marriage. And where that's the goal.

Its engagement right? I mean spell it out dude. If you can't afford a ring, no chance.

Yeah, for example. I mean, you're going to need to be able to afford an engagement ring, if you want to follow that tradition. And afford a wedding, if you want one. And afford a separate place to live. And afford to raise and provide for a family.

I mean, it'd be wise to set yourself on that path before you date, get engaged or marry. I wouldn't want to marry just anybody and then just hope that it'll all work out. Marriage is a serious commitment. So it should be taken seriously. You should plan for it, prepare for it.

That's what I meant.

Women don't need 'taking care of'. Children do.

You seem to be mixing up women with girls. There is a difference.

A family needs to be provided for, yes. I mean, if you're married, things are going to cost more.
