Raymond you said: Can you support your ideas from Gods word? Give book, chapter & verse.

- It is true that God has wrath and hatred. ---------------------------Verse: Psalm 5:5, Romans 9:22, Malachi 2:16
- This wrath/judgement creates a fearful expectation. --------------Verse: Hebrews 10:26, 10:30 & 10:31
- Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. -------------------------Verse: Proverbs 9:10
- Fear of the Lord brings about reverence and purity. ----------------Verse: Proverbs 8:13, Proverbs 16:6, Proverbs 15:33

I think it is interesting the connection between the fear of the Lord and the hatred of evil. Proverbs 8:13

The rest of what I said is my personal view on the current standing of the church.

If God loves that which is Holy He must hate that which is unholy. Apart from the grace of God revealed in Jesus Christ all that is left for any of us is the wrath of God.

....now if God was indifferent, then that would be a completely different story, but love makes us choose sides. If I love my family, then I hate anything that would desire to bring them harm. Makes perfect sense.

God doesn't just love God is love. there is a difference. I love, God IS love. God is not hate, nor is God indifference. GOD IS LOVE

Never said God is hate, but because God is love and God is also Holy and Righteous, God hates unrighteousness and unholiness. Is it not true that God hates sin? Is that not hatred? I know that God desires all to come to repentance but the reality is that there are those who are content to live a life of selfish pride and self-indulgence and God's wrath is upon them. I think the best way to put it is that it is a hatred motivated by love. For instance, I love my kids and hate when they choose an ungodly road in their everyday choices, and because I love them, I must discipline that which I hate.

The Bible says: in Proverbs 6:16 There are six things that the Lord hates,Seven that are destible to Him: haughty eyes(Pride),lying tounge, hands that shed blood,A heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil,a false witness who pours out lies, and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

Thank you, Indyred. I honestly can't believe that people would seriously argue the other. Guess it's telling of what's being taught in many of today's churches. What do you think?

God hated Esau who represents the sinner. Psalm 139:19-22
Don't we have two kinds of enemies?
Rom. 9:3 Jacob have I loved, but Easu have I hated.'
Malachi 1:3-4,"And I hated Easu and laid his mountains and his heritage waste, for the dragons of the wilderness. 4) ...The people against whom the Lord hath indignation for ever."
So, we have the sinners, and we have the Jews; however we love the Jews for the father's sake.
Romans 11:28, As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes."
As Ps.139 shows,The enemies of God were hated, and Jude 23 states to hate even the garments that they wear.

It is a strange thing to say that God never hates but loves everyone then condemns sinner and satan etc to hell. So I think God hates.

God does not hate, for love is the opposite of hate, and God is love. God hates the act, as should we Christians, and not the person.

Well that's the whole point, T1990. We are asking if God hates. The answer doesn't necessarily have to be 'people'. To love something basically says that you are taking sides. If I 'love' that which is holy, then wouldn't it be correct to say that I hate that which is not? By you saying 'God does not hate' and then a sentence later state 'God hates the act' you are contradicting yourself. It is absolutely correct to say that God hates sin because sin is what keeps us seperated from Him because He loves us more than we can even comprehend. He loves us so much that He would die for us.......oh wait, I believe He did that already! :)

does God hate anyone? the answer is yes:

http://www.carm.org/religious-movements/universalism/does-god-hate-anyone

Psalm 5:5, "The boastful shall not stand before Thine eyes; Thou dost hate all who do iniquity,"
Psalm 11:5, "The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, and the one who loves violence His soul hates."
Lev. 20:23, "Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nation which I shall drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them."
Prov. 6:16-19, "There are six things which the Lord hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil,
19 A false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers." Hosea 9:15, "All their evil is at Gilgal; indeed, I came to hate them there! Because of the wickedness of their deeds I will drive them out of My house! I will love them no more; All their princes are rebels."

The sobering fact is that God is so holy and righteous that He hates the sinner (Psalm 5:5; Lev. 20:23; Prov. 6:16-19; Hos. 9:15). Some say that we should say that God only hates the sin but loves the sinner. But, the above scriptures speak contrary to that. But it is also true that He is love (1 John 4:8). It is better to accept the love of God found in Jesus than to reject it and suffer His wrath.
