Not afraid of responibility... just dont need it right now!!! :))!!! I have enough responsibilities in my life!!!

Marriage is by no means "easy". However, there are a lot of reasons to desire marriage. Here are some:

1) Most (~90% I think) people feel called to marriage. If you don't have the desire, it generally means God has other plans for your life thus purposely didn't give you the desire.
2) Marriage between man and woman is a ministry in and of itself. The two become one working synchronously with one another.
3) Sex. This may sound selfish, but the truth is God gave us the desire for sex to entice us for marriage (NOT for self-fulfillment as the world sees it). How great it must be to raise a family who loves God and glorifies Him.
4) Finances. In the U.S. married couples receive tax breaks and other incentives. Also (at least in the beginning) the two are generally able to save more with two incomes.
5) Marriage can act as a sanctuary/safe haven from sin. As mentioned above, the two become one flesh: you are able to tell each other everything and trust each other 100%. If this doesn't happen, then it usually means someone is feeling convicted about something they said or did. As with other sin, if a person is feeling too prideful and unwilling to seek forgiveness, things can go awry quickly.
6) Intimate Companionship. Intimacy is a very complicated and "deep" emotion. Intimacy is not limited to sensuality, it can include discussing very personal topics one on one with another person. You can be intimate with your best friend without being sensual, but the truth is, your best friend is not committed to you- that's where the companionship part comes into play. Presumably your spouse will be there through thick and thin. Nobody likes to be alone.

Not seeking a godly marriage simply because you don't want the responsibility is, in my opinion, selfish. (Actually, as you get older, you will be saddled with more responsibility. There's no escaping it! Yet another reason marriage is good, with two people working together in sync you can get more done!) That's not to say that marriage should be your #1 priority, it just means you should be open to it happening sooner rather than later. After all, not all of us are in a position to be married right now.

But it would be even more selfish of someone who knows they are immature and aren't ready for the responsibilities of a marriage, but they go ahead with it anyway, then have everything go wrong. It's better to be a late bloomer than to make a life-changing choice before you're ready and live to regret it, and hurt people. Everyone matures at their own pace, it doesn't necessarily make them selfish.

I agree, and acknowledge that. It doesn't make you selfish if you're not in a position to be married now, it makes you selfish if you feel called to be married at some point, yet use your "responsibilities" as an excuse to not get married. Responsibilities are never ending, you keep getting more and more.

The extreme of this would be adding on to your "to do" list for the sole purpose of avoiding marriage.

I don't really know that I want to get married at this time. I'm simply wondering whether I will. It would be nice to know...

Benefits:
- companionship
- confidante
- hopefully finding one person on the planet who actually gets me
- intimacy/sex
- stability
- security (and I'm not talking about money here; I mean not constantly being in a state of flux...wondering)
- As we get older, we begin to lose family members. Parents and grandparents die. Children grow up and leave home. It would be great not to feel so alone in the world sometimes. :)
- someone to share dreams
- someone to share adventures
- having someone around who likes to eat as much as I like to cook :D

So I'll have someone to play scrabble with.

i never put you for a chick flick lover and now scrabble.. do you have the app installed on itouch/phone/android?

in response to the question, cause the longer i wait the less likely people will want to marry me lol

Those who are not called to a life of celibacy should see in marriage first and foremost the opportunity to be more and more sanctified. Marriage is meant to point to Christ and the church, this is the great mystery that the book of Ephesians points out! Just as Christ is in the process of making us, his bride, more holy right now, so is marriage meant to make each other more holy and ready for heaven.
Asides from this point, I do long for the companionship, the intimacy, the recreation, and the troubles of marriage. Understanding, however, that it is a temporal institution that will not exist as we know it after death. With that said, I would marry.
