How can evolution be disproved when if it has occured, taken millions of years to get an an evolved state?
 
No it hasn't been disproved. Some hypothesis don't hold up to test, and that is part of what science is. But just because there is evolution, doesn't mean you can't believe in god.
 
I personally think that Macro-Evolution is dispproved by the supremacy and authority of scripture.

There are morei mportant (external to christianity) reasons to not believe Macro-Evolution, but this is mostly philosophically rooted. For example; Instrumentalism.


Also, I think David Berlinski is a rather good critic of macro-evolution.

For something needed to be disproved it must be prooved first. Evolution has never been prooved yet. It is a theory. I can have a theory to saying "I am the best looking guy in South Africa" And some would agree and some would disagree but if I don't win a beauty contest I haven't proven anything. It is merely a theory.

I can say the moon is made out swizz cheese. It is a theory. A lot of astronauts might disagree with me because they have facts and of the sand on the moon at NASA, but I can still hold my theory. It is not truth it is not fact. But it is a theory. And I can keep to that theory as long as I like. It isn't factual. Its theory. But if were to say disprove that the moon is made out of swizz cheese everybody would laugh at me.

So first off, it hasn't been proven yet.
 
Why are you seeking sources pointing to disproving it? I think jimmydigs' first post is a proportionate response.

I personally believe in both. And no offense, but 50 scientist that believe in creation isn't very compelling. I have my own views, and I don't believe the bible rules out the possibility for evolution.
 
The Bibble does not lie cause its the words of God and In genesis it say's how man came to be...But if you want a way to see how evolution on Humans is none existing heres something...Scientists say we came from Monkeys we Evolved from them But how can they explain why monkeys still exist, are supposed old species should have just vanished since they are our younger stage am i not right But monkeys still give birth to Monkeys and no monkey grows into a human :)

Evolution is just one strain of many studies of science.

Many people combine the big bang and other fields into one when they talk about evolution. If you're talking evolution in the sense of some gas exploding by a star billions of years ago and resulting in what we see now, then no, there is NO EVIDENCE for that. Most scientists when pressed will even admit that.

Now if you're simply talking about the narrow scientific field of evolution, that is about change within species, I don't think you'll find many Christians who will disagree with that.

The problem with this topic is that folks end up talking about more than one field of science when they start slinging around the word 'evolution'.

Change within species is fact. The round Earth is fact. Gravity is fact.

Species changing in to new species,that isn't fact. And when you press an 'evolutionist' on that, most will admit it. You just need to apply a lil intellectual heat.

I do believe that evolution is a theory and not a law. Some hypothesis under evolution have not held up, that is very true. But there is a large amount of data in regards to transitional species (species changing into a new species). Its true that all links to everything have not been found. But a lot of them have.

I know I here that "missing link" with monkeys and humans a lot. But there are several dozen transitional species before homo-sapiens. I personally don't see how people can just ignore all of the data, or just except that it is wrong because some religious people say it is wrong.

That being said, I don't believe the theory of evolution threatens Christianity. There is no scripture that directly opposes evolution, and there isn't anything that would make the bible any less credible if evolution did exist. All part of God's plan of growth and development.

As for the big bang leading to life? I will give that to ya. The actual origins of life are lost to scientist. I personally believe in God, and I view science as what God is allowing us to learn about the universe around us. Maybe someday, we will know just how life starts..if that is part of God's plan.

Oh man do I hate this argument. There are countless examples of predecessor species that still exist. There is nothing to support that monkeys would no longer exist if humans did in fact evolve from them.

The "old species should just vanish" argument is, no offense, retarded. If a single couple of humans give birth to a 6 fingered child (yes it happens) does that wipe out all other humans if that 6th finger turns out to be an advantage? Even if that kid goes on to produce a whole country of 6 fingered humans, does that mean that all other humans are going to be gone? No. Christians really need to stop using this argument, it doesn't hold up to anything.

Nothing against you personally, I am sure you are just repeating this, but it really is a bad argument if you want to argue against evolution.

So is the thing about eyes that don't evolve.....

Life starts because God spoke it into existence, He created man from the dust, breathed into him the breath of LIFE, and man became a living being... It's not a mystery if thats what you're referring to... About woman, you know the story don't you?,... He also created the animals and beasts, sea, land, and air, and gave man Dominion over them, now God made a distinction between man and beast, so where you get it from that somehow Man may have evolved from animals, well... I don't think I know... It wasn't dominion for man over man... So what part is it that you should believe in evolution too, beleive that Christ came to save lost souls??? and not animals??? Which part got saved,.... Where is it that evolution ENDS, and you getiing saved begins??? Please do tell!!!

I don't think evolution has ended, I don't think it will unless there is nothing left that lives. I don't think Genesis is completely literal. man is made from dust and to dust we shall return. But that doesn't mean that God was simple and didn't make life and growth in a way that we could one day understand.

But there is a significant difference between man and animals, that is hard to explain. Even for good scientist, the question of "why are humans smart and self aware" is very hard to explain. Questions like that are what cause me to believe in God.

I guess what I am trying to say is, I don't understand your line of questioning at the end there. I never claimed that man, even if it were once animal, is STILL animal. So the who got saved question doesn't really apply.
 
i don't believe people and animals are evolving into more but de-evolving into less. there is more science showing the loss of genetic information and genetic diversity then the increase of it.

you can study the bottleneck theory and how many species are going extinct, yet "new" species are not being created or evolved but discovered in remote areas from pre-existing species not because they are really new organisms but because they can no longer sexually reproduce with the original species because of mutations which causes even more genetic diversity to be lost and the gene pool to decrease even more.

I believe species change and adapt to their environment but I also believe that God created the original templates to all creatures even if the gene expression might be different today then in the past due to changing environments.

we share how much of our DNA with other living organism? yet there is diversity due to the expression of certain genes.

even within our own bodies our cells have the exact same DNA but the cells are different because of the gene expression in each cell differs.

I have actually read the bottle neck theory, very interesting stuff. And I totally agree with you.

They hold conferences from time to time and are scientists who actually believed in evidence until they found fresh compelling evidence leaning towards creationism.
 
I personally believe that evolution is no more then a debunked theory with way too many holes to hold any kind of water. This is due in part to scripture being very clear how things happen and the scientific knowledge i have gained through listening and learning from Ian Juby.
I have been very lucky to have worked with him on several occasions as he brought his travelling creation museum and spoke at a Bible camp i frequently work at. He is an incredibly wise, and learned man with a passion to see the truth. He has a series of DVD's that are super informative and I would encourage everyone to pick them up. But he is also aware that money is tight for a lot of people so he has also posted the complete series on YouTube for people to watch for free!

I encourage every one, creationist, evolutionist, gap theorists, an those still seeking to check out what he has to say.
