I heard that a lot of important events in the NT lines up with the High Holy Jewish Days.

For example the Feast of Weeks or Pentecost is when the Holy Spirit descended upon the upper room and the prophecy of Joel was fulfilled. Jesus was the Passover lamb, and I'm sure there are more.

what are your thoughts?

Bible verses?

here is a scripture passage to prove it...

colossians 2:16-17..."Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ."

How the Jewish Feasts were Fulfilled

he seven annual feasts were spread over seven months (Deuteronomy 16, Leviticus 23), at set times appointed by God. They foreshadow the set times of God's work of redemption through His Son, Jesus, as affecting both Jesus and believers in him.

The Passover
The term "passover" is to be considered in the sense of "hovering over", i.e. to protect or deliver. God's presence overshadowed His people for their protection. The nation of Israel was transferred from physical slavery leading to death in Egypt, to lifelong service to God. Likewise, the believer in Christ is delivered from spiritual slavery (bondage to sin) leading to death, to a life of service to Christ, leading to eternal life. Jesus, the Lamb of God, is our Passover.

1 Corinthians 5:7-8, "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth."

The Feast of Unleavened Bread
This was a continuation of the Passover. Yeast (or leaven) promotes fermentation and Scripture uses yeast as a type of sin (1 Corinthians 5:6,7). Forgiveness for our sins can be obtained through the intercession of Christ, our mediator. Entry to this feast is possible only because "Christ our passover is sacrificed for us." Both the Passover and the feast without leaven show essentials for the believer. As there were 7 days eating bread without yeast, so for the believer there should be a complete life separate from sin. The sacrifice of Christ is of no benefit unless sinful yeast is excluded from our life.

The Feast of Firstfruits
This prefigured the resurrection of Jesus. The ceremony took place on the third day from the Passover; Jesus rose the third day (Matthew 16:21). 1 Corinthians 15:20, "But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept." Until the sheaf of the firstfruits had been presented to the Lord, no one was permitted to eat bread, parched corn, or green ears. So, until God had reaped the firstfruits from the tomb in the garden, there could be no gathering of the harvest (1 Corinthians 15:23).

The Feast of Weeks (or Pentecost / Harvest)
This was held at the beginning of wheat harvesting, seven weeks from the Feast of Firstfruits (Leviticus 23:15-16). In the New Testament it is called Pentecost (Greek 'pente' = fifty). This festival commemorated the giving of the Law which took place 50 days after the Sabbath following the Passover. On the day of Pentecost following Jesus' resurrection (Acts 2), a new revelation was given to the people in the gospel preached by the apostles, with the invitation to all to enter a covenant with God through baptism into Christ.

Acts 2:38, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

The Feast of Trumpets
Almost four months after the Pentecost, though not at a precise interval, the feast of Trumpets was a day of rest celebrated with trumpet blasts and sacrifices when the nation was presented before God. This prefigured the time when the Lord came down from heaven with the trumpet call of God. This was fulfilled in 70AD.

1 Thessalonians 4:16, "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God..."
1 Corinthians 15:52, "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound..."

The Day of Atonement
On this day the priests offered sacrifices of atonement for themselves and the people. The ordinance of the scape-goat was a figure of the death and resurrection of Christ, and the atonement thereby made, which pointed forward to the work of redemption accomplished by Christ.

Hebrews 9:7,11, "But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;"
Hebrews 9:24-26, "For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself."

The Feast of Tabernacles (or Booths)
The feast of tabernacles commemorated their wandering forty years in the wilderness, but foreshadowed when they were given a judgment period of 40 years to repent before the destruction of Jerusalem. In contrast to the Day of Atonement, during which the Israelites were to afflict themselves, during this festival they are commanded to rejoice. This third great festival held at the end of the harvest prefigured when the redeemed rejoiced before God (Revelation 7:9-17). The harvest of faithful ones represented the final ingathering developed out of the waving of the first single sheaf (typifying the Lord Jesus Christ) on the first day of the week following Passover.

i don't agree with their interpretation of the feast of trumpets...

they claim that jesus returned in AD 70...that is full preterism
yeah noticed that.

some other sites say the last three feast are yet to be fulfilled but will be during Jesus second coming.

found this one..

The Messiah in the 7 biblical feasts

and it states this about the feast of Tabernacles:

After a Jewish tradition, the Messiah will come on Succoth (others say on Passover). Jesus was born around Succoth!

yes it seems like the feast of tabernacles is already fulfilled according to john 1:14

and yes jesus was most likely born around the feast of tabernacles...not christmas...

i don't know if the feast of trumpets has ever been fulfilled though...

I see that bible verses are often read like they pertain to someone else, in another time; It is by creation language I understand the meaning of the last supper pertaining to the Passover Lamb. All biblical language from the Old Testament is fulfilled by Jesus within those who are delivered from the place of sin, and follow in a path of teaching; a path richer than gold.

When God called His people in Egypt (you) to come to Him, the ruler of the land of sin refused to release them. A sheep was slain and its blood was used to save God's people, and the meat was eaten in The Supper Of The Last Day in that land. Then God's people were shown how (following God) to cross over into The Dawning of a New Day in a land that held nothing of this world, but to learn to trust Him in all things.

When Jesus told His disciples to go to a house where The Last Supper was being prepared; that is the image of the last day in the ways of the world. When this was done by tradition and doctrines of men, immediately the real thing was about to take place; And is in this moment in time when the blood of The Lamb of God was shed to save all who would hear the calling of the Word of God and believe, even in this present day.

the calendars are a sequence of events on two plains

Passover
1 Corinthians 5:7
(7) Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Unleavened Bread
1 Corinthians 11:24
(24) And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

First fruits
1 Corinthians 15:23
(23) But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

Pentecost
Acts 2:1,
4
(1) And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
(4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Trumpets, just before day of atonement
Leviticus 23:24-25
(24) Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
(25) Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

Day of Atonement (1844-)
Daniel 8:14
(14) And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
Hebrews 8:1-2
(1) Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
(2) A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.

Tabernacles
Revelation 21:3
(3) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

Yes it is around the 3rd week of Sept, but more interesting is that he was concieved around the time of Hanakah (festival of lights) but born around the feast of Tabernacles. Before Christmas was even celebrated the early Christians celebrated Hanakah due to this connection and did so for the first Three centuries.

Day of Atonement (1844-)
Daniel 8:14
(14) And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
Hebrews 8:1-2
(1) Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

i don't believe in the 1844 theory...

for one thing the 'day-year' principle doesn't fit here...if it even works anywhere at all for that matter...because the hebrew word for 'day' doesn't actually appear in daniel 8:14... the hebrew literally says 'evenings and mornings' there...which is how the NIV translates it... in other words they are literal days...

there was a historical king who fits this description given in daniel 8...antiochus iv 'epiphanes'...who ruled over one of the four hellenistic kingdoms that were established following the death of alexander the great... antiochus iv desecrated the temple in jerusalem and abolished the daily sacrifices...provoking the maccabean revolt...

2,300 days is the length of time from the rebellion of the hellenistic jews against the law of moses under menelaus the high priest until the reconsecration of the temple at the end of the maccabean revolt...which is remembered by jews in the festival of chanukah...

so the 2,300 day prophecy fits the story of the maccabees...

the theory of the cleansing of a heavenly tabernacle in 1844 is just an attempt to make william miller's failed prediction of an 1844 return of jesus work...

i thought of something last night before i went to sleep...about a possible fulfillment of the feast of trumpets by jesus...

in ancient israel the first use of the trumpet was as a signal for commanding the army to assemble and set out and go into battle...

maybe this function of the trumpet was fulfilled when jesus gave the great commission?

If you look carefully at Daniel 8 & 9 you will see that the year/day principle is used.

Reason 1
Daniel 8 has a symbolic ram a symbolic he-goat symbolic horns so then the 2300 days is symbolic

Reason 2
Daniel 9:23 Daniel is told to "consider the vision". Daniel does not have a vision in chapter 9 so it is referring to the vision of chapter 8. Look at chapter 8 the vision of the 2300 days is not explained.
Daniel 8:26
(26) And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.

Reason 3
Daniel 9:24
(24) Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
The word determined means 'cut off'
H2852
חתך
châthak
khaw-thak'
A primitive root; properly to cut off, that is, (figuratively) to decree: - determine.
It means it is cut from something, the 70 weeks are cut off from the 2300 days and because the 70 weeks use the year/day principle then the 2300 days must also. Both time periods have the same start date 457 BC.

457BC_________34 AD (70 weeks end)_____________1844 (2300 end)

I was thinking more like this one..Luke 1
.67 Now his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying:
68 “ Blessed is the Lord God of Israel,
For He has visited and redeemed His people,
69 And has raised up a horn of salvation for us
In the house of His servant David,

Day of Atonement (1844-)
Daniel 8:14
(14) And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
Hebrews 8:1-2

(2) A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.

don't buy the 1844 thing either, this is when JESUS enters the Heavenly temple upon Ascension..

Hebrews 9

11 But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come,[a] with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. 12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance
.

Tabernacles
Revelation 21:3
(3) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

the feast of Tabernacle was fulfilled when Jesus was born and dwelt among men.

it also talks about it being started in honor of Abraham not having to actually sacrifice Isaac, which foreshadows Jesus being sacrificed for the sins of the world.

John 3:16-18
New King James Version (NKJV)
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

In addition John the Baptist was born around then right?

Matthew 3:3
For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: “ The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘ Prepare the way of the LORD; Make His paths straight.’”

Are you guys sure that you want to talk about honoring the festivals God asks us to perform, especially in line with Paul saying we shouldn’t have to? Can’t we become purely absolutely spiritual so we are better off not asking our physical body to do anything as mundane as putting it through anything at all God asked us to do to represent God in our lives? After all we went to the pagan worship policies and assigned them to Christ like Easter and Christmas. Does it really matter? In our hearts we worship God, not pagans, even if we use parts of pagan ways to do it, and isn’t it only our hearts that matter?

Or perhaps we should listen to what God told the kings who ruled Judah and Israel before Christ? Christ said "I and the Father are One", but I heard Christ did away with all that Old Testament junk. Or is the OT scripture?

you misunderstand we are talking about the OT and how Jesus fulfilled the feast and how they were a foreshadowing of what He accomplished with His life, death and resurrection.

there is nothing mundane in performing anything God asks of you, why else do you have physical bodies?

However observance of the OT Jewish feast are not necessary, Walking in the Spirit in obedience to GOD is.

If we became "purely absolutely spiritual" we would not still be housed in these corrupt bodies but have been called home by God.

It matters how we worship God. They thought they were worshiping God through the Golden calf in Moses time, one should heed what happened to those people.

i think jesus already fulfilled -all- the feasts...

in colossians paul says the religious festivals are shadows of christ...he doesn't specify certain festivals...he just says 'religious festivals' which i take to mean all of them...

anyway if any of the feasts have not been fulfilled by jesus then we would still be observing them as shadows of things to come...
