Ok, so I get it, video games such as Modern Warfare and Call of Duty are extremely popular, but they are not of God, and I can bodly say with confidence that God does not approve of these games!

What part of THOU SHALT NOT KILL do you not get? So it is just a game you say? Is that how you would respond to God?!?! I sure hope not.

Wake up and realize that these games are evil, totally against God and His Word, and are desensitizing you to the Holy Spirit.

To add on, these games are also physically addictive by stimulating the fight and flight response of our bodies, releasing dopamine and adrelanine since these are FIRST PERSON, and we forget for a minute that they are fake. Thats why people get really frustrated and angry and why they swear and yell a lot. Also this can cause ADHD in kids, because like TV, these are images that are moving rapidly, causing the brain to not think and release dopamine, hence sensationalism and the "rotting brain".

I can say that from experience and addiction, these things and TV, movies and videogames in general are a plague to be avoided, but then again I jumped over to playing chess and reading books that may not be hollistic so choose your poison wisely.\

ALSO: this means not hating people for anything which can be hard so becareful and i can only say that you gotta think really really hard about what you feel.

That is something I have never heard or thought about before, but it makes total sense.

I seriously and honestly do not consider video games as killing. There is no loss of life of any kind when a virtual person gets killed. I also don't think any person can declare God doesn't approve of video games.

HOWEVER, that being said, there are plenty of things in the bible that show that God is against violence in general."The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence." I believe that is Psalms...sorry if I am mistaken. But the point is I could probably quote 100 things in the bible that should turn you away from video games. My main point was that I don't think that murder is on the field for this. "thou shalt not murder" Murder is described as the killing of another person. Not a pretend killing of a virtual person. Unless you want to get really technically with the Hebrew language. lo tirtzack refers to "killing of any kind". But that would make life very difficult.

Anyway...The additive thing i totally agree with. One of my minors in college was Psychology and we actually looked into this a great deal...defiantly an addictive habit.

But, I am gamer. I am a sinner, just like everyone else.

I'm still new, what is a truthseeker? Or is that a person?

@Saul: I was being sarcastic I guess. This whole videogame thing has been discussed for over a 1000 times everywhere, but this truthseeker conflates actual murder with play.He thinks he is presenting a unique/edgy argument and thats what bothers me.

Agreed. It desensitizes you to violence without a doubt. I know, I used to play lots of these games. Obviously it isn't killing someone, but it can breed a desire to or an indifference too, murder, in your heart.

If there is a desire in your heart to murder, the lesson I try to teach is THAT IT'S NOT CALL OF DUTY 4 YOU...

let me put this in another way:

"What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.'"

KJV:

And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? 17Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? 18But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: 20These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

I don't agree with this, not at all. I have been in combat and I am an avid video gamer. War games do not desensitize you at all to actually firing a weapon at someone. Millions of US military personal have sever post traumatic stress from combat, and many of them were and/or big into war and combat video games.

Also, statistically, "Gamers" are among the lowest groups of people that commit violent crimes.

It has also been shown in numerous studies that violent video games can can lower aggression aware from the console. A person with a desire to kill has it with or without video games of any type.

Does not apply here.....

I think what bothers you here is the fact that you made a completely false presumption. You cannot and will not ever be able to read my mind or see the intentions of my heart.

If you have not been convicted by what has been said then keep playing your murderous video games. I have said what I felt needed to be said so my hands are clean of this. I have no power to change your heart, but GOD DOES! All I can do is plant the seed.

You chastise because presumptions made against how you think, but you assume to know how God thinks?

I can't simply take people's word for things, but it also doesn't sound very good for the spirit inside us to mimic killing people. It's something to think about anyway...
The virtual killing vs. real killing and the bible commandment was a bit of a dramatic comparison though. But I see where the OP is coming from.

Though like posted above, you can't assume what's in someone's hearts....including the video game players.

I can't know whether or not God would majorly disapprove of violent games, but I don't believe God would look at it as the same thing as taking another human's life.

This was Christ's response when approached by saducees and pharisees about eating with his disciples who broke a tradition because they didn't wash their hands before they ate.

Matthew 15
1Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

Look it up for yourself.

You chastise because presumptions made against how you think, but you assume to know how God thinks?

I don't know how God thinks, but I do know much of what God thinks based on His Word. It is that simple.

I haven't made any assumptions here about what is contained within a person's heart. It is not like I said that anybody was going to hell for this either. As I said in the origional post, these games desensitize you to the Holy Spirit, THAT is my main point here.

That seems like a bit of a contradiction, you say you don't assume what is in a person's heart, then you claim that people are being desensitized to the Holy Spirit. That seems like an assumption to me.
