what are your thoughts?

Should Christians participate?

Iamsoandso requested a thread to discuss it.

No one can say that a Christian should, or should not. That is between the Christian & God! I would only go there to witness. I have friends who went to the one in Portland, Or. They had several people pray with them to accept Jesus Christ. I don't think the movement or what ever you want to call it is going to change a thing. Christ & His Kingdom is the only thing that will change the world. Thy Kingdom come Lord!!!--Mark--

I don't want to sound like I am bragging, but I am part of the "1%" and i totally agree with what is going on with these occupy movements. Alot of people seem to think these occupiers are starting class warfare, but I don't think that is the case. They are protesting the banks robbing people blind, and politicians being bought but corporations. Just look at how often the government sides with corporations and banks over common people, I think it is disgusting. And I can handle higher taxes, take the strain off the people under the most pressure.

And @bloodwashed, I think it is making a difference. You are already starting to hear republicans change their tune when it comes to bank corruption. It's slow, but I think it is having some (even if it is just a little) effect.

In my opinion, it sounds as though you have bought into the propoganda of the socialist left, that something besides skill and perserverance should determine how resources and wealth are allocated. The people who are demonstrating against wall street are nothing but a bunch of whining crybabies
who think the world owes them something. They are just taking it to a higher level than it has ever been taken before.

That is not a concept that is taught in Scripture. As early as Genesis 3, God makes it clear that man will have to work; "By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken;..." (Genesis 3:19) And the author of Proverbs had it right; "Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense." (Proverbs 12:11) And, "All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty." (Proverbs 14:23)

And no less authority than the Apostle, Paul, often stated in his letters that he took pride in the fact that he and his companions had always "paid their own way"; that they had been no burden on any of their followers (even though they probably had more right than anyone to be taken care of). And he admonished all Christians, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,..." (Colossians 3:23) Finally, he warned us unequivocally, "Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need." (Ephesians 4:28) (What would you call an able bodied person on welfare?)

I believe that the scriptural evidence cited above demonstrates conclusively God's opinion of socialism. Any concept of wealth redistribution, except that which is orchestrated and managed by the church, is abhorrent to Him. Those people who claim to know how to better distribute the resources of this, or any, country are after all holding themselves up as God. He don't like that.

This is my opinion, and I recognize that many people will disagree. But I'm fairly confident of my biblical references.

God bless.

Becareful with these events, they are there to goad people into violence and such, but you can always go there to preach the word, not a bad idea, however the so-called revolution is more like a shift towards communism or at least the collective, tax the 1% who find ways to avoid taxes, and cause more weight on the middle and lower classes who have to compensate for that.

Interesting to note that Mr. Soros and also the Obama admin is okay and is actually backing this as well.

I disagree with you a little. And maybe you should watch something other than Fox news once in awhile. I am not saying that people shouldn't work. But how can they when the economy has been devastated. Many people at these protest have jobs, but more cannot get hired anywhere, because jobs have been shipped overseas.

To call a bunch of people in need a bunch of crybabies doesn't seem very Christian at all.

Acts 2:44-45
And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.

Corinthians 8:13-15
For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness. As it is written, “Whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack.”

John 3:17
But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?

Galatians 6:2
Bear one anothers burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

It is election time these repubs & demos will say anything to get elected. Then it is biz as usual! Wake up, The only thing worth standing up for is Jesus Christ!!!! God Bless Mark!
Well I certainly can't deny that politicians will say anything. But people should stand up for the downtrodden.

Marching will be pretty pointless, there is no more hope for a better world. America will suffer the same fate as all the other nations that enslaved the Jews, it was built on the blood of them, it was doomed from the beginning. God has watched how his people were treated during the time of their exile by the nations, and they were treated harshly beyond words. America is the fourth beast mentioned in the bible, and also mentioned in the Apocrypha.

2 Esdras 11:"37 When I looked, I saw what seemed to be a lion roused from the forest, roaring; and I heard how it uttered a human voice to the eagle, and spoke, saying, 38 "Listen and I will speak to you. The Most High says to you, 39 "Are you not the one that remains of the four beasts that I had made to reign in my world, so that the end of my times might come through them? 40 You, the fourth that has come, have conquered all the beasts that have gone before; and you have held sway over the world with great terror, and over all the earth with grievous oppression; and for so long you have lived on the earth with deceit. 41 You have judged the earth, but not with truth, 42 for you have oppressed the meek and injured the peaceable; you have hated those who tell the truth, and have loved liars; you have destroyed the homes of those who brought forth fruit, and have laid low the walls of those who did you no harm. 43 Your insolence has come up before the Most High, and your pride to the Mighty One. 44 The Most High has looked at his times; now they have ended, and his ages have reached completion. 45 Therefore you, eagle, will surely disappear, you and your terrifying wings, your most evil little wings, your malicious heads, your most evil talons, and your whole worthless body, 46 so that the whole earth, freed from your violence, may be refreshed and relieved, and may hope for the judgment and mercy of him who made it.' "

I
s this not America that Esdra is writing about? surely it is. Woe unto the nations that were guilty of the offenses towards the scattered of Israel, they shall suffer the plague of Zechariah 14:12, which is nuclear fire. The elements shall utterly melt, who will not tremble? America has mocked God, now they and the whole world shall feel his blazing anger. This is the time of great judgment. I here tell you the truth.

now i was curious,,to the thoughts of this "ows" movement,"wall street" is not "the government of the united states" and it began on 9-11-2011 the odd part of it is that if you try to contact any person who organized it you will find endless links going nowhere. if you want to post on any of the ows sites you must be a "member" you fill out the form enter email and your off. then if you want to find out who they are,,,"?" ,,,,there's no "homepage",if you "email contact ",,it tells you before hand they "cannot answer your email"and you are told this before you write. you would think the militias would chime in,,,they always wanted to have the public with them to "protest" but they know better from the old days that "there are as many agents of the gov." in the militias as members. that way they know the names of each member when they need it. so who "organized this movement"? who set up all the web pages?who wants to know who all of the people that are angry with them?
did you ever notice there is "someone" who comes to church about once a month from out of town,,,,,"just a guest",,,,,,,"just passing through",,"just thought they would stop in",,,,,,,,"just to listen to you preach"?????,they also follow the chat rooms to see who says what,,,,who knows,,, who don't who will say what.
