I am a worshipper. I love to worship my God. What I do not like doing is performing. On December 17 we are having our first ever Christmas concert. The pastor finally realized that we have so much talent in our church and there's a limit to what we can do for the Christmas Eve Eve service, that we need to have a separate "show".
For years I've been pushing the worship pastor to do a gospel choir and this year he looked at me and said, "go for it!". Unfortunately the woman who said she was going to do it with me backed out last minute and left me to do all the work. As I was dividing up the parts, yhe whole choir was adamant that I sing the solo. Ahhh!!! So now i'm really nervous. This solo requires a while lot of umph. To make it worse, my friend leaned over to tell me, "I think you need to sing this out of a place of your husband leaving you.".
Yesterday the service was about grace and our misunderstanding of it. This will take Gods grace. I believe what my friend said was prophetic, but it's also very difficult.
The song we are singing is "joyful joyful" from sister act 2. It's not the kind of song that you sing with passion out of pain. That is why the grace of God is still important because despite my husband becoming abusive and narcissistic and leaving me, God is in control and His plans are still going forth.
I know I can sing this song, but I'm not sure how it'll be if I'm short on breath from being nervous or if I break down mid verse thinking about my husband.
