What is one of the most stirring moments in film you have ever seen?

And A Time to Kill.. It didn't move me to tears, it provoked me to anger. I can't grasp that sort of hatred. It's tragic. And even moreso because things like that really happen...

Was gonna say the Russian roulette scene after the war, but it was the effect of their lives because of the war. That was THE scene though, for sure. Were you in the army?
Yeah the ones that are real life occurrences make you think and effect you the most.
 
No, I wasn't (I was a cop), but my stepdad was a decorated Vietnam vet (bronze star, purple heart) who served two tours/Army lifer. He passed away in 1995 from cancer, but to witness the flashbacks about the war he had under heavy sedation in his last days spoke volumes. It must have been truly horrible for the effects of that war to have lingered with him for at least 20 years.
 
A movie moment that got me all choked up was toward the end of "Marley and Me" When the guy had to go and put Marley to sleep. The reason this had touched me so deeply is that I had went put my dog of 14 years to sleep about a week before I seen this. Yeah, I cried.

Another movie moment, which I happened to see the other day, is during the first "Santa Claus" with Tim Allen. At the end when the mother realizes that Scott really is Santa Claus, after telling both him and his son that he is crazy and had Scott's child custody revoked. Then goes and grabs the custody papers and throws them in the fireplace and says "I want you to come see Charlie whenever you'd like."

The song that plays while Duke (dog name?) and Todd, the red Fox, are playing as young 'uns, with 'Best Of Friends' song playing in background, and then they say:

Todd: you're my best friend, duke.
Duke: and your my best friend too, Todd.

Then later in movie, Duke has chance to kill Todd and he lets him get away.

'I will let you go this time, Todd, but I swear next time I won't let you go.'

In Shrek Part 1, when Gingy the Gingerbread Man had his legs removed by the evil Lord Farquaad, and Farquaad threatens to remove Gingy's gumdrop buttons, and Gingy shrieks out in horror and despair.

I think we all shed a tear that day!!!

Enemy Mine. Good movie, catty, I still remember when I saw it when it first came out in theatres. I should see it again, I know it had good relationship elements in it, but forget what they were. That green brain of mine , always fergittin' things. :D

When Jack tells Rose it's ok for her to go in the rescue boat even though there are no more boats so everyone else on the boat will die when the Titanic sinks.

'It's OK, Rose, there is another boat,' says Jack, as Rose wants to get out of the rescue boat as it is about to be lowered into the sea.

The boat begins to lower and Jack looks down at Rose and gives her a look that says: 'I had to lie because if you stayed with me on the ship you will die.'


There are no words exchanged, but here in the movie one can see the tremendous understanding of Rose and Jack as Rose jumps from the rescue boat back onto the Titanic.

A movie called 'Thief In The Night,' that I saw in my church when a kid. It deals with the rapture, in a very.real, eerie, convincing way.
 
One of the most recent movies I watched was "Letters to God". The entire movie was stirring and made me think about my faith, but there is one part when a certain child in the movie mentions how she has asked God into her life. It was just an incredibly powerful moment.

It really is worth watching, I would recommend it. The way the Lord works through children is amazing and I love the little connections between people throughout the story. :)

I know this movie is based on a true story and that there is a book, but I'm not sure what it is called. It was written by Patrick Doughtie though and I think was still called "Letters to God". I could be wrong though. :)

The Shawshank Redemption:
When he crawls through the pipe full of sewage and the narrator tells you its the length of 4 football fields. If that doesn't stir something inside of you then theres something wrong with you lol
 
About halfway into page two of this thread, while trying to consider what has touched or moved me to the point of tears - or at least, close to it - suddenly City of Angels popped into my head (naturally, the scene in which Meg Ryan is... well, for the sake of avoiding a spoiler alert, you know). Seeing Seth's melancholy overtake him was not only heart wrenching in itself, it was a painful reminder of how precious life is; especially another person's life for whom we love.

Naturally, several moments in Braveheart as well, as it's one of my all time favorite movies.

The ending of Phenomenon (another one of my favorite movies).

And who could forget Neo sacrificing himself for the sake of the people of Zion?! :p

And yes, The Shawshank Redemption was an amazing flick. I'm also reminded of The Green Mile (same director); nearly that whole movie was grievous. I really felt it lamentable seeing all of those men get in that chair (not JUST John Coffey).
 
Hachi. Based from the true story of an Akita named Hachiko.

This is possibly the single greatest dog/loyalty movie/story in existence, and it touched me because if a dog can be that loving and loyal...how much more could a person be if they only kept trying. (assuming they tried to start with...)
 
I don't remember Passion of Christ really getting at me, but i remember crying..(maybe i cried because everyone else was crying :p)..

So how can i watch this *Schindler's List*,it sounds interesting.
