As usual, your response is underwhelming. Also, you should take more time to actually read what people say. I very specifically said 'i don't know much about Rastafarian'. And pointed out that all i did know was that they are not Christian. That's all i said about it. So i was fully in bounds of my knowledge to speak what i said. I made no assumptions, guesses, or accusations about them or their beliefs. Try paying more attention next time.
i know that you said u dont know...but dont assume anything without knowing

I usually have no problem with marijuana as it can be helpful for many issues and a nice way to relaxing.. I don't even mind using every day in some cases but you have to be able to function, if it's affecting school/work it is time to take a step back and rethink it.

he must know that the act of smoking itself is unhealthy, maybe if he was ingesting it in other ways he could claim it to not be harmful.

Here's something to consider, pot is a form of weed, like the weeds in your yard. The weeds in your yard choke out grass, killing your lawn. Therefore we know that weeds could not have performed this way, let say, in the Garden of Eden. So its safe to say either weeds did not exist, or not in the form they do now, in the Garden. That would mean that it wasn't until after the fall & sin corrupted the earth that weed, in the form we know it now, began to grow. So weed is not a 'natural' thing God made, so it must be good. It is a byproduct of sin entering world. A concept you might want to try presenting to your son.
Just because 'weed' is a nickname doesn't mean that it is a weed, that's just an unjustified claim. Also in the beginning God gave every herb bearing seed, and tree bearing fruit...which would mean that marijuana was here since the creation. It is not safe to make such assumptions. You are just making unjustified claims which you cannot back up.

Acornell, I would just make your son aware that it is illegal, regardless of how he sees it. Also make him aware that it is very easy for pot to become an idol to him. If he is thinking about catchin a buzz more than he thinking about God, then that is idolism. If he is relying on weed to get that connection with God instead of the Holy Spirit it is only going to hinder him in his spiritual walk.

It's clearly illegal. That's reason enough for a christian to stop doing it, not to mention the damage it does to his body and the harm he could bring about to others when he is under the influence.

Thank you for being a good parent and speaking up. So many parents want to be buddies with their children and slack off on actually being parents until it's nearly too late.

Seems like your son is either a christian or he isn't and he's making excuses not to change a behavior he probably knows he should. Choosing pot over Jesus to help us deal with our problems doesn't make much sense.

My prayers are with you and your family.

Here's a thought! How about, "“Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you."? (Deuteronomy 5:16, emphasis added)) I don't see where it says "unless you disagree with your mother and father." And Jesus followed this up in the Gospel of Mark; "And he continued, 'You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions! For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and mother, and, ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’" (That can't be good.)

Whether the drug is harmful, or illegal, is immaterial to this argument. If parents don't want their children to do them, and the children live under the parents' roof, they are obligated to accede to their parents' wishes. The solution to this dilemma is simple; "Get straight or get out!".

No lie, but i smoke quite a bit and have for a long long time. since i was 13 so 10 years now. i have gone back and forth on this issues for many years even quit smoking weed for a year or more. I know i am not addicted cause i give it up when i want, and i don't have withdrawls or anything. I find that is a great source of pain relief for me. I get chronic migranes, and I was hit by a pickup trucks 2 years ago and had my entire right leg rebuilt. During the season changes, i experience a lot of pain in my ankle due to the surgrys and what not, and i really would rather vape weed, then take manufactured pain killers. Much stronger addiction rate to them i feel, and god gave us a natural rememdy for pain.

A lot of cancer survivors and people in therapy i know that use medical marijuana don't even smoke it. They bake with it, or if they do inhale its through a vaporizor so there is no negative physical side effects.

People make degree's of bad decisions daily. If the speed limit for cars were lowered to 20mph everywhere, it would prevent millions of deaths each year. People partake in risky behavior everyday. Your taking an unnessary chance when you go on a plane, when you drink caffiene, even when you work out too much. When you eat bad foods.

Who cares about marijuanna? Just because there is a law against it, does NOT make it right. And the government most certainly COULD regulate it and make TONS of money on it. It would also reduce our over flowing prisons. It would take money out of the black market. If regulated, it would be pure (some dealers spike it with other chemicals to try and pass it off as stronger, which can be very dangerous).

so anyway, the only REAL problem is that it's illegal and no one wants to go to jail. I also dont see why he would need to smoke it everyday. That seems like a problem too. Addiction is never good. Even if it's just a psychological addiction.

But you can't stop him from doing it. He will find ways to do it if he wants to that bad. You both have a point in my mind.

And I believe that ALL drugs should be legalized for the above stated reasons. That doesnt mean there shouldnt be any rules. Maybe have age limits or something. But people should be able to put in their bodies whatever they please.

Agreed, although you should check out Portugal (i think that is the country.) They had a huge problem with drug adiction. I think it was 1 in every 5 people were addicted to heroin. They had it illegal of course, punishable by imprisionment. A couple years ago the radified the law and made it a legal, but put conditions on it. If you breaks those conditions, instead of going to prision first, you are forced to go to rehab and therapy. Multii-offender issues are dealt with prision time though.

The country's addiction levals have dropped a huge ammount since then. It has also boosted their economy cause they aren't supporting so many prisioners.

Give people help instead of just throwing them behind bars.

I guess I just don't see how ANY habit that causes a christian to steal from his parents, disrespect his parents and damage his testimony by landing him in jail could possibly be good for him.

Agreed.

Just like eatting, drinking, money spending...

Any addiction is a problem.
