If my reply seemed overly critical to you, then I apologize. Even though I was only replying to your criticism of me. Everyone here knows I don't go around criticizing people.

...and I don't like it when someone singles me out the way you did here, so anyone who does so should expect a barrage from me because I don't take that kind of thing lightly, and I don't think anyone would. In the future, if anyone has a problem with me, or any other member its better to PM them about the issue instead of openly criticizing them in front of everyone. That's my opinion anyway..others may disagree. The bible says to take it private though.

Who are these folks you implicitly speak for?

I find the extracts of your articulations slightly contradictory in my opinion, not that i mind just pointing out. Feel free to rebuke me anytime, I sincerely welcome it.

I think Zero you are misconstruing me badly, I'm not here to change anyone's thought. I guess my view of the primary objective of this platform is different from yours.

I didn't even think i was overly critical of your 'joke(s)', my bad mistake.

My point Zero is if our 'silliness' (as you put it), hinders one soul from drawing closer to Jesus Christ, is it worth it.

And Zero I'm not trying to criticize anyone I'm just trying to understand where we overstep the boundary in 'our' call as Christians.

{

Ephesians 4:29

"Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. }

If you don't mind me asking Zero what is Christianity(or rather Christian lifestyle) in your view. Not trying to trick you brother, it's a sincere question.

I guess I poked my nose where I wasn't supposed to. Forgive me if i have offended you or anyone else.

As I'm a weak Christian , i feel unworthy to mention this but I was somehow compelled by encounters I have had with various people.

A particular question that seems to pop more frequently in my interactions is: "How are you Christians different from us with some of your behavior."

So maybe I read too much into things but I still am convinced ,in my opinion, that usually the small things cause others to stumble.

And my brother Zero I have nothing against your jokes. :P

Wouldn't you agree that sharing the word of God involves changing some mind sets. It's a free choice of course to that specific individual, but by sharing there is a grace expectation in that direction

Ok, then I apologize to you, Shine. I misunderstood you, and I apologize. I fly off the handle very easily and sometimes take offense when offense was not meant because of my past of being bullied all the time. If something sounds even remotely offensive to me, then I tend to assume it is.

I'm not going to answer any questions because my faith is between me and my LORD. If anyone wants to think I am not a christian, thats up to them.

God bless.

If you don't mind, I'd like to share my thoughts on this...

Christianity is many things to many people. It's a religion, it's a lifestyle, it's a world view, it's a community.

There are many people who only really embrace some of these aspects of Christianity (I'll focus on post-salvation).

Religion is probably the easiest to engage in. It involves somewhat dogmatic (not intended with negative connotations) ritual and clear rules. It involves going to church and reading your bible and praying to God. There are a lot of people that live only this facet of Christianity and miss out on so much more. It is people stuck here that I think have influenced many of the media misconceptions of Christianity. People who go to church and read their bible and then go out and don't live it. Or worse, go out and pick the fire and brimstone passages to call judgement on others.

The community is probably the next easiest to engage in. It's a matter of not only going to church to listen to the sermon (or just because you are "supposed" to go to church), but also to really engage with the other Christians that are a part of the congregation. IMHO these people can help build your "Christianity" more. They can help support you in general as well, which can be a great help in times of need.

Next comes the world view. Gaining the true Christian worldview involves knowing Christ on a personal level. First learning about what He did, and learning about His love and then accepting that the world would be a better place if it was filled with Christ's instead of humans. As a Christian, you hold everything to a higher standard. A standard of perfect love and perfect truth.

The final, and most difficult, to achieve is the lifestyle. Having attained the law and the ritual, tempered it with a loving worldview, and been strengthened by the community of Christians, the next step is to truly live what you believe. To go out into the world and not be seduced by evil and sin. To go out as a light, separate and unafraid. To share God's love with everyone around you. It is when this is finally achieved that Christianity's difference really shines.

When you are asked "well how are Christians different from everyone else" there is a simple answer.
In John 13:34-35 Jesus says: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” It is our love that sets us apart. We love deeper than anyone apart from Christ can ever love.

If this doesn't satisfy the person, I would encourage you to explain further. Explain about Christ's life and how we as Christians seek to live like He lived. Explain how, in the ultimate sacrifice, He died to wash away our sins; Past, present and future. Explain how God desires for all people to accept Him; how God gives great gifts to those who love Him. God is so amazing.

I could keep going and going, I hope my thoughts on this have answered your question. I'd hate to have my words by like a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

God bless you Shine.

I better re-clarify my position on this subject because, and, I won't post quotes because of sensitivity issues but....

Nooooooo, this thread is not a joke response to alienX's thread , it is serious and I don't want to sound like a broken récord so read my OP ('opening post,' for you chat lingo illiterates out there :D ) and, you can understand my truest feelings, and, read my post AlienX's 'Boring Christian Men' thread, and, also, please, keep this all in mind: a girl who serves God wholeheartedly, by going to church all the time, by working commitedly to her job, whatever she does for wage, by not going out partying, is a keeper.

Doing the Lord's work will often be mundane, serving food at church activities, working with kids in Sunday school, etc. She is boring in a good way that way, in a God way. Jesus was a servant on Earth, He called that His chosen best thing to do I believe scripture states. Anyway, that kind of girl serving others is not boring at all. By serving others you are loving them. Think about it. Rare (and blessed) is a guy who can find that kind of woman who obviously loves God, honors God, and, fears Him too.

'Course, if we are going to be getting a 'boring' gal as thus described above, guys, we need to have a christian lifestyle that exudes that kind of way of going about life. :)

IF you are seriously wanting to be married, forget about that idea for a bit and just get OUT there, wherever God has 'there' be for you, maybe even christian chat, and.....

serve.

Differences aside, I think you hit the nail squarely on the head.

I would hope that I could earn her respect and she would "serve" me also, but I think that would just be a bonus. Being with a woman who lives a life of service would be great! Such a woman doesn't need to be a party-goer or socialite, or really have lots of hobbies to make her interesting.

I noticed a few years ago that a lot of the women in my life, women that I was attracted to all were either studying, or already nurses. At first I thought it was the uniform (I kid), but I think many of the people that seek out that job have a heart for care and service. Maybe it's just me...

Humans will always have differences , that is how God made us, Lightnin'.
And, if you are speaking of the 'dream,' thread with your differences, and, I presume, like Dr. Livingston, you are, then there is nothing wrong with your stating your believe on that subject and I mine. My differencrs with you in that thread had only to do with your remarks to a lady simply stating her dream and faith in God. I hope you in your heart, and, maybe, by doing a PM to her, have things right. The Lord leads :) I know you mean well, we all say things hurtful to others at times, its in our nature to want to convince others to believe as we. And, that is fine, that is (high) time for God giving us a chance to grow in our life.

What you said to Shine, lightnin' , is growing you, especially your words in paragraph 6, about growing deeper , personally, in Christ, but I also 'loved' what you said in 7,8,9. :)

Anyway, what you said is good here, yes, respect is very important, to dole acts of respect out to a girl you like, and, dole 'it' out in droves. A girl , any girl you date, should be treated with the utmost respect, she is like you, a child of our King. And, when you get married, you must not have 'it' based on her BEAUTY , you must HAVE your relationship (marriage at this point) based on respect or she will not TRUST you and you will lose. You will want a relationship in your marriage that is based on her service to you and she will not like that kind of servitude.
