Hate: how does one deal with it?

How does one extinguish hate from his/her mind?
(I'm not posting this in the teen section, because I don't feel like I'd get as good results)

Sometimes, all I see is hate. Satan is really screwing my brain right now, it's really annoying. I pray about it, but it doesn't go away, and I know I have to make the choice not to hate, but the feelings remain. The notion that hate is a feeling may lead to the conclusion that neurochemicals must be manually altered, possibly through drug treatment.. but that's expensive.

Anyone have any free solutions to getting rid of hate? I'm a dumb teenager and I'm lost in hate.

Its resentment (remembrance of wrongs) that you suffer from. It also is a demon as well.

first of all you are not dumb ! dont you dare to talk about yourslef like that ! you are Gods child and i think it already means alot ! about your situation with the feeling of hate . dont know what really to say here , but try to focus on Gods word more , read it everyday ,it might help ...

about anger i think i may add that it may deals with unforgivness that you might have in your life , if this is the case then you need to try to learn to forgive

What hate? All hate is not evil. Even God hates (though many professing christian fights it hard).

18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.

Anger will always be present while we live in this flesh. But God gives us something very special. Grace. His Mercy and Peace to live.

Agreed. If it's evil you hate, don't let the sun go down on your wrath.

If it's a person you have hatred towards:

Let the peace of God rule in your heart. Forgive whoever wronged you.
Submit to Him, and place your hatred at His feet.

You aren't dumb. Try to get rid of that thought. You are a special child of God.

Something I have learned about hate is that if you think on it too much, you are often feeding it. Rather, choose to pray to God and ask Him to bring love into your life. A couple of summers ago I really struggled with having that hate feeling towards someone in my family. It was really hard to deal with, but the Lord showed me I needed to pray to be able to love them. I think it's a great that you recognize there is a problem there.

You don't have to love situation, but don't hate people. Hate sin. God is bigger than the devil, our Lord will and can help you in this. Keep seeking Him The hate will go away, love may take a bit longer to come, but having hate for someone actually damages you more than anything. When you are released of these feelings you are going to feel it. It's incredible.

One of the hardest things to do is let go of a feeling. I sugest having a intimate time of prayer and ask Jesus to give you the strength to forgive. We must make a decision to forgive and then God will give you ample grace to do so. If you are in close contact with the people who anger you then when you feel angry try to think before you speak. Be quick to hear, slow to speak. I know its hard but God is faithful he will give you strength. T

Lord I forgive "persons name" and I renounce all hatred towards him/her in Jesus name I make a decision to forgive them for every wrong they have done to me. Father I need your grace and your strength so that I can have a free mind. Deliver me from every evil thought. Amen
