How do you handle the frustration of not being able to change things you really want to change that are making it difficult for you to really live for God and enjoy life? I find in my life there's a lot of things that are making me unhappy right now that I really don't have much ability to change right now, or has been very difficult to bring progress towards changing despite my most persistent efforts to do so. I know what you might be thinking. Don't focus on your problems, focus on God, and just live for Him. But I can't even get myself to really do that, cause a lot of it really does have to do with everything that's bringing me down that I can't seem to change no matter how hard I try. And that frustration leads me to do things I don't wanna do. I guess my faith is weak, which I feel like as hard as I've tried to restore strength to it, I'm unsuccessful at that as well. I always say to myself at one point or another through my journey of dissatisfaction towards myself, well you know what, I don't care how crappy things are right now. As long as I'm living for God, then forget everything else that's not working, that's just wrong, and that's all against me. But valiant as that sentiment may seem to be, I just don't end up doing that unfortunately, cause eventually life just gets to me. And I get selfish and do things that make me feel good, but I know isn't cool with God.

Everybody occasionally does things that are selfish, or greedy or sinful. Everybody. But the fact that you feel badley and understand that they are wrong shows that you are still doing well. Just keep at it, 22 is a rough age to get a hold of yourself.

Just Hang in there. God is with you. It will be ok. you will reap all the rewards of these trials one day. don't give up hope. you will be rewarded.

I agree with saul. I also think that you should view life for what it is. Things happen to you, it's part of life. They may be good, they may be bad, but you have to view it for what it is. what happens to you happens. try to make the best of it. I'd say: don't devote yourself to any one person. but devote yourself to a way of life that will make you heppy, and that will bring you success. If you keep telling yourself that you can't do it, you won't. it's not easy what you're going though. and it won't be easy getting out. as I said, devote yourself to a say of life that best fits you. god is looking out for you, but he can't pick you up and get you out of trouble. find something that gives you comfort. and that will stick with you all through this. that is the best i can do. hope it makes sense and hope it's helpful.

I am sure that some people would argue against the "God can't get you out of trouble". I think it is more of a he wont help. We all have free will, and every action has a consequence...even if you weren't the one that acted, you may suffer the consequences.

Other than that :) well said

I get frustrated a lot with things I wish I had more control over. Everybody gets frustrated, and has stuff they go through. Not trying to belittle your problems, just letting you know your not the only one who's going through stuff right now. It's not easy but it helps to just take it one day at a time, and know that whatever it is won't last forever. And I will pray for you.

A lot of people are in the boat you described. This is a problem that plagues me at times.
I have always been independant and like doing things my way. Conflicts happen when
God says turn right and you want to go left. The conflicts are self-inflicted. God forces
you to the right and you get stressed out or upset. If you stay like that, you can miss out on
a lot of wisdom from God, miss out on growth in God also. These are times of growth, gaining
wisdom from God and getting closer to God. You said you guess your faith is weak. It might
be. No one can become stronger by using the same light weights. Heavier weights
will make one stronger.

I have been through some tough times I couldn't change. It seemed like they would never
end. When you pray, ask for what He is trying to teach you or help you become.
Sometimes you get the answer shrortly. Other times, you get the answer afterwards, by
reflecting back on it. When you get through it, your faith will be stronger, have more
wisdom. Then He'll add a few weights and give you another workout. Most likely
something different. A new challenge. You probably don't want to hear that God will
put you through tough test, but everyone faces a tough life. A child of God benefits
because he has God with them. They grow, while the unsaved world chases its tail,
going from one self-help book to another and gain nothing. You can't develope a
strong faith without these trails

Different people are given different workouts. You may look at someone else's difficult
situation and think, I could handle that with no propblem. But for them, they are having
just as hard a time with their workout and you with yours.

Thanks for all the words of encoragement. It's nice to hear how all of you have struggled with seemingly unchangable life challenges as well, and that it appears it got better in each of your situations. I'm praying that you all will endure any trials you may be going through now too. I've been doing a little better again lately. I'm refocusing my attention on God and putting all my effort into living this life His way. I've come to realize that I haven't really been spending enough time with God, and He's supposed to be the most important relationship I have. And it really hit me today, our relationship with God should be just like the way we work to make the close relationships with people in our lives well. I need to communicate to Him more, listen to Him and spend time with Him reading the word more, keep doing better for Him if there's way He desires me too, and then just have faith which pleases Him. Another way it kinda hit me, if God, the supreme being of the universe, were right here in a front of me, I'd drop everything, and just spend probably the whole day with Him. But I also realized if that were the case, then it wouldn't be faith. And I realize faith is the most important part of this relationship and this journey, whether things look good or they look bad, that's what He wants from me, and that's what I wanna work on giving Him, cause He's already given me more than I could ever ask for, and I love Him for that, and just cause He's always loved me and kept my life from going really bad. So I'm really rededicating myself to Him.
