I feel like we aren't as real about God as we should be...

Every time I hear a pastor speaking about God, it sounds almost like it's all fake because they speak so vaguely, and so airy, that it just seems....fake. It looks to me like they're just putting on a show, not actually trying to teach and understand God.

Anyone else wish we were just more real about God?

Instead of using all these bizarre metaphors that are beyond the bible and eloquent words for simple ideas we just need to talk about him! He's right here, not goin anywhere, and he doesnt need our teachings to each other to sound fancy. Part of why I'm afraid to ever go to church is because I dont understand the sermons and the sermons make it all sound scary instead of good and loving!

Anyone else agree? Why can't we just talk aboue God and Christ like they are: our Father, and our Savior. You don't need fancy words or speeches to talk about that.
 
maybe depends on what church you go to, i know that none of us are perfect and sometimes it does feel vain but just gotta open yourself to God about that vanity, it feels good afterwards and you can sort of start becoming more honest :)
 
To be honest it sounds like you are listening to the wrong pastors. I like what I hear about God in my church, I may not agree with everything the pastors say 100% of the time ( and I think it's impossible to agree with someone 100% of the time) but their teaching about God is pretty accurate. Is your church preaching according to the Bible or according their experiences? The God from the Bible is Holy,Just and Merciful...and even more, He wants a personal relationship with every one of us. As you grow closer in that relationship God will not seem so distant, you will understand him personally and hopefully your church does too. I think what makes a church beautiful is when all the members of the body have a personal relationship with God, when they are like-minded, united by the same Spirit.

Philippians 2
Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? 2 Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

I've noticed that this has been your concern for a while...if you don't feel you are in the right church you should pray about it and make sure to do the right decision. I hope you do the best :) God bless you.

Nino, I know you've been struggling with trying to find a church that teaches in a way you understand. Why don't you consider this: find someone, either online or in real life, who you trust and you believe is trying to live their lives the way God has called them too, and who would be willing to answer questions for you, that you may have in regards to the Bible. Also, consider going into the Bible Study chat room. I know that sometimes people get a little carried away, but much of the time, many really do try and discuss the Bible in most of the time. And keep praying to God to show you the church He wants you to attend, the one where you learn and be able to be used by God.
 
I agree that, thankfully, not all pastors/churches are like that. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Our relationship with the Lord was never intended to be as complicated as man has made it. Reading about Adam and Eve walking with the Lord in the cool of the evening tells me this as well. :) These days, walking with Him is not a matter of dimension or time, it's an attitude of the heart.
 
Ninotori, I agree with you. There are a lot of people/churches out their that don't have a true focus on God. This can be sad, but I recommend just praying about it. I feel like the Lord is just showing you that in those places you have been around/seen are not the right places for you.

Not all people and churches are like this, so keep seeking. The Lord will guide you to where you need to be. When you find the right church family as Kayem was saying, that unite because of their own personal relationships with God, it's incredible. God bless!
