Jesus says those who believe will speak in new tongues, heal the sick etc.

I don't care for the pentecostal or charasmatic labels, it just makes sense that being in God's presence whether in church or anywhere brings fulness of joy, and for us to be doing greater miracles, because He said so!
Somethings wrong when people get so excited about night clubs and sport, then sit down solemnly at church.........ah well!

i personally wouldnt suggest a baptist church because they are heavyly calvinistic, and i saw that you believe or so in the Arminin route, which i can completely understand, i "grew up" in a church that wasnt really "Emotional" and felt God had led me to a Pentecostal Bible College there were things that i didnt necessary agree with, like yourself
Actually, not all Baptist are Calvinistic. Only the Reformed Baptist are. There are some that are Arministic, and some that are Biblisist, such as mine.

This is basically the belief that you are saved in sin to sin and it is a heresy.
Saved from sin to sin? Really. Never heard of that. Saved from sin to live a Godly life. We believe that you do not loose your salvation, but that does not give you a lisence to sin. In fact, we believe that if people do not change in their life (and I don't mean right that second), chances are, they were never saved originally, because they probably did not repent, but just recited a prayer. And I grew up in churches that were probably closer to Arminianism.

What does this have to do with the topic? I'm not leaving Jesus. I'm just contemplating leaving a type of church that I don't feel I belong in. Wherever I go, I'm going to make sure it's a Gospel-teaching church.

I am non denominational, however, I enjoy Pentacostal churches. I dont agree with all of their doctrine, but i like the way they worship. I'm not entirely sure what people mean by the word charismatic, but I often hear it used as a negative thought describing churches that tend be more energetic with praise and worship. I find that annoying.

shawn, go with what you feel convicted to do. Religion is generally dogmatic, but even "non-denominational" people have their own personal dogma - their own methods of praise, worship; practice - if you really think on it. Explore with an open mind and open heart, and pray for what you're seeking. :)
I feel like we agree a lot lol. but i have to say this is very true, don't be so worried about what denomination it is just find a good bible based church that you feel is right for you!

don't judge a book by it's cover!

You first admit you don't know what it means, but then turn around and say you get annoyed by the negative connotation. If you don't know what it means, how can you be irritated by the negative connotation? Maybe it's valid.

Charismatics tend to be the 'dancers' during praise and worship, speaking in tongues in church, en masse, believe in the gifts of healing/prophecy/etc... The reason i tend to have a negative view of them is they are also more motivated by 'feelings' and follow 'new movements of God'. Such as gold dust and diamonds, or the Brownsville Revival of barking, laughing, running etc... They also like to Christianize things, like 'Christian yoga', or 'Christian meditation', 'Christian soaking' and other eastern and new age styled acts. They're also more prone to following Word of Faith heresy. I believe them to be sincere Christians, just easily led into wrong teachings because they emphasize following the 'Holy Spirit' and tend to be less bible oriented.

There is a time to be solemn in church, and there is a time to sing songs of praise. However, just because one is solemn, doesn't mean they are not truly worshiping God.

Ecc 3:7 "A time to keep silence, And a time to speak"

I think you maybe are looking for a Weslyan type church. They are arminian in their theology.

I disagree with the arminian theology but I like the way most of them worship...

This is basically why I don't think I fit. I'm not led by my emotions, nor am I quick to enter new movements. A friend of mine recently admitted he thought it odd I attend an Assemblies of God church. To quote him, "Too much 'Woohoo!' and not enough 'Ah, I see.'" Makes sense to me! :D

1: We are SUPPOSE to be lead by the spirit!!!!
2: Nothing wrong with dancing to worship God?
3: Nothing wrong with tongues, saying otherwise is blasphemy.
4: Actually, we don't live by what we feel. We don't let the natural be natural. I've seen God pour out diamonds in church, oil pour out of bibles, etc...
5: And words of faith heresy? There is power in words. That's why the spoken word of God is so powerful.

Granted. At the same time, though, there are certain doctrinal positions I hold and I would like to find a church sharing those positions. Otherwise there will be conflicts of belief between me and those around me. Plus I wish to find a generally more relaxed type of church than what I attend.
