I have to reply on this thread, I have spent so much If my time online playing games it's not even funny.
I used to love this game called Oblivion, but it's all about magic this, potion,quest for reward, kill this, kill that, and plus there where so many people making nude modifications that you could download for free that integrate with the game, it's just kept me hooked. It's a shame, the final progression of the intelligent modders was all about making the females in the game hotter and nude.....all those smarts dedicated to that one thing.
They have been making nude patches and mods for years whenever they can they do...
I don't play games anymore, but I will tell you that it's a fight not to. The games that are selling now and totally evil and cross all kinds of lines, and the masses are consuming them as fast as they can make them.
There are tons of MMO' that can suck hours upon hours from your life.

Makes one wonder if that qualifies as having dominion over us? In which case, not good to play. I mean...when the rapture comes, would we say.. "oh wait, Lord. I am almost done."? Scary a thought.
Since what we achieve on it is vanity anyway... any table games played with family members are probably the best ones spending your time away on. I have never felt any need to complete a table game.

HEY. You people remember Spiritual Warfare? That Zelda-esqe game where you ran around converting bullies and stuff? Well I'll be darned. I thought I was the only one. The company that made Spiritual Warfare, Wisdom Tree, made some other games too, but SW is the best. They made a Noah's Ark game for the Super Nintendo that used code from Wolfenstein 3-D, but instead of running around killing mechanical Nazis, you threw fruit at kangaroos and stuff. Wild stuff. I actually still have Spiritual Warfare in my grimy clutches, and it still works.
Most modern games don't really care much about promoting virtue. Today, the trick is to pass over the games that are corrosively trashy for the games that are harmlessly trashy (if there is such a thing).

COB'S you too?????? ie the Spiritual Warfare game.......whoaaaaaa......yea ya had to hit them with the fruits of the spirit lol.....and in one of the places there was a hotel and you were told not to go in hahah.....so I went in lol.....I lost some part of my armour I think....had to go back and re-do it....lol....dang curiosity gettin' in the way again

The key was to keep track of the rooms....a piece of armour was found in each room lol......that map came in very handy.....I used to draw it on a piece of paper and cross off the rooms as soon as I had gotten everything I could in each one .......ahhhhh this brings me back.....I was like an obssessed maniac whilst playing that game hahahahahahaha

Yes Yes........and I think a banana or a grape was the best thing to throw at it......ohhhh man getting to the final room took forever.....all those demon things floating around was skeery....haha.....but notice it was inside the prison....coz crime and stuff is sin....so yea.....a connection of sorts lol
On the subject of games without good messages, alot of games have moved onto making choices for yourself. One of my favorites is the Bioshock game (with a sequal coming soon). A bit gory, but the moral choice between good and evil was intirely up to the player. In most games w/ moral choices, being good puts you on the losing side (which is very bad for me b/c even in video games I can't bring myself to be evil) but Bioshock had a balanced Good/Evil system that left it pretty much seperate from gameplay.

I cannot help but wonder wbout these verses:

If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Let the Lord give you new eyes in seeing these games.
As for Spiritual Warfare, I wonder if it is available for the current game systems?
And I also wonder why a piece of fruit is needed against the devil? Why not have the character state their faith in God through Jesus Christ that they are bought and sealed as His and thius get thee behind Jesus, Satan, since Jesus is in us, and thus behind me would be... behind Jesus as well.
Course, I do not believe the devil is roaming in hell but abroad on the earth, seeking whom he may devour, but then Spiritual Warfare is only a game.
Still, to be aware of the reality of our life on earth, one would think that some clarification may be in order.. like...at the end of the game..
For those that are at home and confronting demons, do not use a piece of fruit nor weaponry to combat the devil. Just call on Jesus for the promise of God is assured that all those that call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Reading it or hearing it may sound funny, but yet players may be informed rightly so for the very first time in Who to go to for help... even if the players are non-believers.. especially if the players are non-believers.
One can hope they would call on Him if they did find themselves in the midst of a paranormal experience.

Which kind of makes one wonder if the world isn't corrupting us through subtlety.

So if a video game is designed for players to choose the quicker course to success or to accomplish their goals by "sinning" and thus avoid losing the game by not staying good, then how would the world view a believer when they win at that kind of a game? They would probably say nice things about the believer winning that game. They may even inquire as to how the believer had done it, too.
Then another poster said something in another thread that was profound in some sense. It went something like this: "Art imitates life and life imitates art."
I have come to know that the American way is not really the christian way. The media in all its movies, music, and video games do not really contain anything that would be considered 100 % good in the eyes of God, but the important matter at hand are...
#1. How does it reflect on us being a light unto the world? Are we hiding it under a bushel when we resort to their kind of entertainment? Could they not say that we are not strange as they play video games just like they do.
#2. I have seen believers rip apart movies, television shows, music, and video games, but not too many are promoting the christian products in the media except from their own network or show. I mean, yeah.. those that sell it will promote, but I am referring to the critics. It is easy to declare anything bad as one can look for fault in anything to find it, but it is another to promote the good as to showing which direction a believer can go or do.
Bottomline, as we live by faith in the Son of God, let us continue to trust Him to be Our Good Shepherd so that if we are doing something He does not want us to do, we trust Him to inform us, to lead our footsteps away from it when we are not getting the message, and strengthen us to resist it when we do. As it is the just shall live by faith.
