It probably should have been closed after RoboOp posted it ;)
This is not a thread for Catholics to defend their customs and traditions. It simply states what the owner and moderators believe and what will not be tolerated. That being said it has gone on for a very very long time with no progression.
I would have preferred that it was closed after RoboOp posted it as well, as this thread quickly moved from "This is what the site admins believe" to "Let's pile on the Catholic Church".

Also it seems all non-Evangelical/Fundamentalists/Radical Reformation Christians on here are in a kind of limbo. It's understandable that they don't want me making threads promoting the veneration of Mary, but to ask me not to defend the practice if it's attacked by others? That's a bridge too far for me. That's not to mention a whole host of issues like the Real Presence, an episcopal system, and the efficacious nature of baptism on which there is not even agreement within Protestantism itself.

This thread speaks a lot of the unbiblical traditions and paganistic practices of the Catholic Church. But what about the unbiblical traditions and paganistic practices of the Protestant Church? Are we partial because we belong to a certain denomination and seek to justify ourselves? Protestants killed in the same was as the Catholics did, contrary to the doctrine of Christ. Catholics gives respect unto Mary and the priests, Protestants give the same level of respect unto the pastors and the elders. Catholics claim Catechism with Scripture, Protestants claim Scripture alone, even though both forget about the Spirit of God.

If we are going to condemn the practice of one, we must be consistent and condemn the very same practice in the other. otherwise we are partial, and you know what James wrote on that.

This is a thread that triggered a chain reaction, and to believe it as unintentional would be naive.
Also, such a thread could be posted by a narrow-minded newbie, but the fact that the administration posted such a ludicrous argument, is quite sad. Even worse, it was made into a 'sticky' so that it would never leave the front page of the forum.

What should Catholics do here? Ignore its bigoted falsehoods?
Don't think so. Sorry.

Now, if only this thing was allowed to die out, even as a 'sticky'...

The irony is, accusing others of not being Christian, is unchristian itself.

Be blessed.

The problem with THIS is that you've wrapped up every thing that isn't RCC into one category. I know of some "non denominational" or "plain brown wrapper" beliefs that are more Biblical. I belong to one such congregation. Jesus is the Head and we're part of the Body.

Plain and simple.

I speak of the Roman and Protestant System, I'm not including the Virgin Bride of the Lord into the Harlot.

How can a person praise Jesus when he is lifting up the name of Mary?

Because Mary was the chosen one to be the Virgin Mother of God on Earth. She is the link between us and Christ. Christ of course, is above all.
I suggest you get more informed and educated on the topic.

Now, have we all said and read and debated enough, or must this nonsensical argument carry on forever?!?

Why do we need a link between us and Christ?

Personally, I go to God directly. I wasn't even aware that He had a bouncer.

I have a question... Do you pray to Mary? Do you bow before her statue?

Why do ask questions you already have an answer for?
Being a Catholic, I obviously say the Hail Mary. It is a prayer of adoration and respect to the woman who carried Christ in her womb.

There is nothing wrong with that, unless you venture into what apparently the administration calls "fundamentalist Christianity".

This thread has reached 19 pages.
Most of them have no value to intelligent and respectful discussions.
In 19 threads, there is still the obnoxious, arrogant, self-important attitude "us versus you".

So how many more stupid or out-of-context questions can anyone possibly ask?
If you got more ammo coming, it speaks volumes of your intellect.
By 19 pages, you'd think people got the message, and moved on.

Okay that is funny lol

There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, Jesus Christ.

I know that's not exactly how 1 Timothy 2:5 is worded, but that is what I heard of God before I knew of 1 Timothy 2:5. Why does the Mediator needs a Mediator? He is the one who prays for us to the Father in Heaven, whereas the Spirit prays for us on Earth. Mediator and High Priest is the same thing, even Mediator and King. In ancient times, it was not uncommon for a king to also be the high priest of their deity, we actually see this in Melchisedec. Israel was quite different in this, but the Lord fulfilled both. Hebrews states He is the High Priest after the order of Melchisedec, and He is our Mediator between us and God. He even wrote that no one comes to the Father but by Him.

We don't need a mediator to pray to Christ for us, we have Christ to pray to God for us. That is erred teaching.

Because this site is completely anti-catholic and endorses hatred against Catholic people (and yes I have seen it in many posts), this is why I willfully refuse to donate my hard earned money to this site and would rather donate it to a charity organization that is not against any people of any religion or use it to go on a vacation to Galveston Texas for myself. I do not want my hard-earned money to work against me so that is why I would not give even a penny to this site. I've seen too many people on here who hate Catholics.

Mary is not a mediator. As Christ's mother on Earth, she is the link between us and God.
Christ and God are one and the same, so Christ is not a mediator either.

You've got guts. I respect that, and thank you for standing up to the lunacy and hypocrisy behind this entire thread.

I guess self-righteous "real Christian fundamentalists" enjoy casting their stones. There's enough here to resemble Pebble Beach.

They can ban me for all I care for and I would not lose a bit of sleep over it but to tell you the truth, this place feels very much like a KluKluxKlan rally and a war site against Catholic people. Donating to this site for me is the same as donating to a hate group like Westboro Baptist Church.

Listen, I'm from Northern Ireland. This catholic protestant divide has caused problems for centuries. The warring parties, are both in fact, not Christian. Because Christians do not condemn people and take sides. They believe in God and follow Christ.

Catholicism puts Jesus as the saviour, the same way Protestantism does. As someone has said, every other popular denomination that is still in practice today, comes AFTER Catholicism chronologically. You have to remember that Jews had many, many religious practices and what you might call 'Dogmas'. These are always going to be a slight part of any church. As long as the scripture is there for people to interpret on their own, I don't see what the whole big issue is.

If Muslims can accept Jesus, and value Christian theology, or if Buddhists can call Jesus a Saint and work by some of his word, then surely Protestants can accept Catholics as people of the faith, and vice versa. Yes there are slight differences, but if you went to Jarusalem and met a Christian who read the Hebrew bible and took their own view, they would ALSO have differences. Everyone takes from the bible what they will take.

In ANY faith, you will get people who follow, and people who stray. The catholic church (as an organisation), has surely had it's bad days, to say the least. But most of it's followers are good hearted kind people who genuinely wish well. (I'm protestant by the way).

This denominational hate really needs to stop.

By your judgement you speak this.

Yahvah God takes a different view.
