His children are to be seperate, and modest in how they present themselves to the lost world, the churches today resemble more of the world than the house of God!
You are going at this the wrong way. First of all, if you are a Christian, you should be asking God and not man whether this is acceptable. Who does your body belong to and what does it represent? You say that it's just a small thing, is it really? I would suggest that you get into the scripture, the answer is right there. Then, I bet you will remove it. How many things that are not acceptable to God are you willing to cover up? Cheers
Hmmmm, I'm still looking for the verse that says, "thou shall not adorn thy navel with jewels for this is an abomination to the Lord." Yes, I am aware of this verse in Leviticus.

Leviticus 19

28 “‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.

Which is negated by these verses.

Acts 15
10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear? 11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.

The OP made it quite clear in secondary posts that she was not going to be dressing immodestly to show off her piercing, so we're not dealing with an issue of modesty. I see no difference morally between someone piercing their belly button from someone piercing their ears or wearing makeup or dying their hair, not that I personally would do any of these things.

I've thought about getting one just for me, but have never gotten around to it. Seemed less dramatic and/or permanent than a tattoo. It's been interesting reading what others think about it.
I had a smart alec comment on this, but my better judgement got the better of me. :(

I think if you have it and never show it why get it? And if you're happy never showing it until you go swim or by accident that'd be a cute and funny characteristic. But I'm against because they have a bad reputation to my eyes & to me it wouldn't fit as a Christian thing to do.

So, I thought long and hard about why I 'really' got it. And I think it all comes down to self confidence. I've always had really bad self esteem and even though people tell me that I'm beautiful, I have never felt it. So, seeing how the trend is with more popular/famous women, I got my belly button pierced. And I kinda wanted to know what it would be like. So far this guy I have sorta dated on and off for the last 6 months has totally loved it. But I feel like that(sex appeal) isn't the right reason for a relationship.
Because of the guilt, I'm considering taking it out. Even though no one would see it(I'm an extremely modest person) and the idea that it would be something only my future husband would see, it's not the way I was raised. So I'm conflicted with the whole situation. And cleaning it several times a day.... oh my gosh.... it's a pain.
So if someone were to ask me my advice if they were contemplating getting their belly button pierced, I'd say don't do it.
But at least I didn't get a tattoo!!!

I think the point gardenbunny was making is that a tattoo is permanent.

My daughter has her belly button pierced. Didn't really phase me but I've been talking her out of getting a tattoo.

I have a tough enough time committing to a shade of nail polish for more than a couple of days, so a tattoo is definitely out for me. :)

Why get a tattoo? You get tired of everything you'll get tired of your picture. Why not display your likes on hats shirts pants or other ways other than skin? I don't like the idea that some are happier by doing whats popular. :(

I agree, MrHonest. I wear what I want regardless of fads. I'm always amazed at the things people will do/wear just because it's the popular thing to do and some will even mock others who won't do it. Wierd how some folks will want to be individuals out of one side of their mouths and clones out the other.

Besides, I can't change a tattoo as often as I can my shoes or my avatar. :D

OK. I need a guys honest opinion.
I just pierced my belly button last night. Spur of the moment. Now that I've done it
I'm starting to wonder what will good Christian guys will think. Its not like I got a
Tattoo. Just a piercing that can be removed. I love it. But if I have my way I want to
marry a guy who is clean and pure. Will he feel like I'm not?
The Lord leads. You will know, gardenhopper . In the pit of your belly, you will know IF it's a good thing. :)

Scripture is clear on copying the ways of the world, be seperate, be holy, repent of all known sin and seek His mercy.. follow the advise of John:

1Jn 2:15 Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him,
1Jn 2:16 because all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1Jn 2:17 And the world passes away, and the lust of it, but he who does the will of God abides forever.

What is the will of the father? to walk the crucified life, being a strong light and example for the world to see, living out an obedient faith to Him. Small price to pay as for what He did for you! His children are to be seperate, and modest in how they present themselves to the lost world, the churches today resemble more of the world than the house of God!
Yes God's word is very clear about the things of this world. Yes God's word does not specially say that his children can't wear belly rings and it also doesn't specially say that Christians can't do drugs but we know for a fact we are not to do these things. It's understood that its your body and you will not show it off. But if the world is doing it we as Christian women are suppose to be different in every way possible.
Our body is the temple of God. 1 Cor 3:16
There is a good article on body piecing you can find it online at www.ChristianAction.org GREAT READ!
I don't mean to sound harsh so plz don'ttake it that way. When I was younger I did things that I knew God would not approved of and at least you are seeking advice from other Christians, me on the other hand was stubborn and just had an attitude of I could care less what God or anyone else thought. You will be in my prayers! May God bless you!

OH, I thought pop!click. WAS saying she had better judgment prevail, but this is not true, it was Oncefell's better judgment. Ah, OK, yes, indeed He HAS better judgment.

No.offense, pop.click. :D

No, seriously, I am just kidding, YOU, milady, have 'better judgment,' too. No? What, Lord? Ohhh. No. No? Yes?

Lol, and, pop!clickt, I STILL can't remember what you said to me about faith, but it was strong opinion and showed me you're no green grasshopper when it comes to ability to spot-on say something poignantly responsive to said argument/thought of someone else :) just saying. In fac, just said :D :)

And, gardenhopper, not to totally greennize your thread, :D , I just saying let your gut speak to you, and, keep in mind, your body is a temple of The Holy Spirit, do nothing to defile it :) Christ alone is our judge, ane, also friend, pray to Him, prayer, thanksgiving, all things

1 Peter 3:3

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes.

Lol, I was acting like the whole concept of "better judgement" was completely foreign to me. Like I had never heard of such a thing.

It was in your "measure of faith" thread. I'll bump it, if you'd like to go over it again. :)
