No, I am not saying there's a chance, I'm saying it's a Biblical fact (as Jesus The Lord told us). Many people today are in this very unfortunate category.
So you are saying that there is a high probability that you are not saved despite the fact that you believe you are. So tell me, how do you know that you yourself are truly saved?

I will fight the good fight :) As long as I dwell in the Lord (keeping Him my focus and my armor) I am safe and fruitful. If I get lazy and sink fully into myself apart from Gods will then we shall see how it ends. God is righteous and in His hands I rest.

Yes it is fruitless. And I worry for your soul, because your trusting yourself, and not the work of Christ in your salvation. You think you can be rightoeus and good and earn your salvation. You have not seen yourself under the eyes of a righteous judge God is and seen your true self, You still think you are right.

Your like the one who stands on the street corner praising God your not a sinner like those sinners out there./ While those who truely see God and their debt to him get on their knees begging For gods mercy.

I think we know who will get mercy, and who will be condemned because their pride refused to allow them to see themselves as they realy are.
Wrong, wrong, and wrong. There you go again assuming things. I don't believe we can earn salvation, but at the same time we cant just live how we want either. None of us is perfect and God knows that, and thats why he sent his son to save us. I know I'm a sinner and think God for his grace and mercy. I dont believe for one second that every time we break a commandment we have lost our salvation, but we can not continue to live sinful lifestyles either. Our disagreement is that you think if someone falls back into a sinful lifestyle then they were never saved to begin with. Though that may be the case sometimes, I don't believe it is the case all the time..

The foolish virgins were never saved to begin with.
The foolish virgins had salvation early on, they were pure and redeemed by the blood hence virgins, but were not watchful (didn't bring extra oil). The devil got them at their relaxed moment and unfortunately that was when the bridegroom came. Every saved Christian needs to watch and pray because the devil as a roaring lion is looking for whom he will devour (make to lose their salvation). We have to remain saved till the coming of the bridegroom--Jesus. So salvation is not just up to God, we have a part to play by keeping our lamps burning.

they sure thought they were.
Many people think they are saved.

The licentious think they are saved because they merely believe, james tells us they are not.

The legalist thinks he is saved based on all the work he does. jesus tells us he is not, he goes so far as to say he NEVER KNEW THEM.

You just contradicted yourself. In one breath you say you can't earn it. In another you said if you do not work to live the way God wants us to live we will be disqualified. make up your mind.

None of us is perfect and God knows that, and thats why he sent his son to save us. I know I'm a sinner and think God for his grace and mercy. I dont believe for one second that every time we break a commandment we have lost our salvation, but we can not continue to live sinful lifestyles either.
And here we go again. What does james say about those who claim to be saved, but go on living a sinfull lifestyle, Where they ever saved? What does Jude call them? and does Jude not say their condemnation was pre-ordained before the foundation fo the world or something like that?

Our disagreement is that you think if someone falls back into a sinful lifestyle then they were never saved to begin with. Though that may be the case sometimes, I don't believe it is the case all the time..
No our disagreement is you think God will save someone he KNOWS does not have faith in him and his word. for if they had true faith they never owuld fall. Our disagreement is you are placing them back under law, because of they lose salvation by doing that, they are under law. Our disagreement is you can not show if those people are prodigal sons (who go into the world for awhile) but are still children, or that they only played the game for awhile and pretended to be christians, until the temptations of this world were so great they returned to their vomit.

Our disagreement is that no one, whether a person is righteous in our eyes, or an evil sinner in our eyes are deserving of salvation, they never will be. So if we can never be good enough to earn salvation. how could we ever be good enough to earn it, or bad enough to lose it.

if we could save ourselves.

1. Jesus died for nothing
2. When Jesus said it is finished, he lied, he would have instead said I did my part, now you do yours.

John 11:25-26

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

there are two things here. believe in Him and live in Him. Believest thou this?

While salvation can not be lost, it can be willingly forfeited. While it's true that God does not command from us something that He himself is willing to bestow upon us, God fully expects us to love like Jesus loved and to live like Jesus lived because, once saved, God has given us His Spirit, the same Spirit and nature that dwelt in Christ.

So many today teach and preach the unconditional love of God and it is true however, they fail to comprehend that because God loves us so much that He has given us a portion of Himself to empower us to love others just as He loves us. Scripture states that we are to be Holy just as our God is Holy and to be perfect just as God our God perfect. He's not asking anything from us that He Himself has not already provided for (ie. the divine nature).

How is salvation forfeited? When we willingly refuse to follow the leading Holy Spirit. Our sin grieves Him due to the fact that He has provided everything necessary to overcome our sinful tendencies when we place our complete trust in the Word of God and are willing to surrender fully to His will. Unwillingness to surrender to His will, refusing to humble yourself and repent when the Holy Spirit is calling out to you to do so, that what it means to forfeit your salvation. Keep in mind that this doesn't happen over night or after a single or handful of willing sins. However, the Bible clearly describes in Romans 1 how the Lord is willing to turn one over to a "reprobate" mind (a lost state) if they absolutely refuse to humble themselves.
AMEN! Yes salvation is a gift from God and his spirit will dwell within a person as long as that person is living the way God tells them to live according to the New Testament. You can not live a sinful lifestyle and expect to get into heaven. And of course people are saying that a person wasn't truly saved but that's not true. Because if you were saved and the devil tempt you and maybe one of your weaknesses is fornication. And you start sleeping with someone. That's a sinful lifestyle. And I'm pretty sure a lot of people can relate to something similar like that in their lives that they was doing on a daily basics and they knew it was going against God's will. Holy spirit can not and will not be in a body that's living in sin. So until that person repent of their sins and come back to Christ and live a changed life if he die while fornicating they would have died in their sins...God doesn't want that to happen to know one but it has and it will continue to happen until Christ comes back.

But it does not say they were "pure and redeemed". That is not in the text. What we do see is what the foolish virgins say and how the bridegroom responds: " Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not."

The bridegrooom doesn't say "I once knew you, but now you have erred and forgotten your oil.." He says he doesn't know them, which means they were never his fiancee to begin with. This can clearly be compared with Jesus' warning in Matthew 7:

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The language parallels seem quite clear. And again it is in reference to people who think they are Christians but in fact, are not and never were.

1 John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

I know I am saved because I believe in the Jesus of the Bible (not the many false Jesus' being propagated and offered to society), as the person who the Bible says He is. The Son of God, Savior and God in the flesh.

they know they are waiting for Him. They are asking others for oil and they are calling Him by name at the door. These aren't random women who know not who they call. They are quite familiar with the groom, in fact they know He is coming and they know they were selected to be ready. These do not represent non believers but those (once called believers) who chose the worldly life over their righteous habitation. They said to themselves "the Lord comes at a further time, I can repent later, for now I will live my life as I see fit and eventually I will choose God's ways over my own."

Lets say I go out and buy a brand new car and I decide I'm going to give it to you as a gift free of charge, you wont have to give me a single dime for it. You don't have do anything to earn it. However, I can still add a condition to that gift and tell you that if you make a habit of getting drunk and behind the wheel of that car, you are gonna forfeit that car back to me.

Paul said....Rom 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Other people like to say....What then? shall we clean up our act? Why? we are not under law, but under grace, so God forbid.

What I do not like about OSAS is how many who adhere to this live like the devil..go to bars...do not have any standard of holiness..collosians 3:7..in which you once walked..if we once walked im.sin..this means we forsook that for something better..that is not works bases salvation..thats truly understandimg grace..grace is not permission to live like the devil..hebrews 12:14..follow peace w men&holiness..without which no man will see the Lord..letd not use what some call 'irrefutable dictrone" as an excuse to hold onto hypocrisy

None of use can base our faith on the experience of others because that would lead to confusion and many different understandings. God's salvation is eternal and permanent. according to the finished work of Christ and the written word. If someone professes Christ and goes out and lives in sin, if they are a child of God they will be chastened by God to bring them back into fellowship, how long will that take, who knows, could take years. If they are not a child of God, let's hope they come under conviction and are drawn to the cross and get gloriously saved. We can have that understanding without having the wrong idea about the salvation of God.
