If the Church must be free from state, and seperate, then why not this 'organization'.
The church is, after all, also an organization in the atheists', and law's eyes.
Similarly, if a religion wants to give in kindness to ANY group (as with any organization or person), they should be allowed to.

This doesn't even make sense. The atheists here aren't being consistent with their beliefs. Atheists shouldn't care or have a problem with a church providing meals for anyone. Atheists that would protest and fight so hard against such an action are only contradicting themselves. Now on the other hand, I could see satanists doing such a thing, and it would be consistent with satanism.
After reading several different versions of this story, it seems there's poor choices made on both sides. The FFRF is using lazy scare tactics by claiming taking the team to a church is "unconstitutional" and it's been pointed out that if that were really true they would have just filed a lawsuit already. However I don't really justify the actions of the coach either who has admitted to using the dinners to hold sermons for the kids, has them pray before and after games, and uses scriptures to try to pump them up. On top of this he's made a point of showing it off on the team's facebook and his own site which is just a turnoff. While I wholly support freedom of religion, I support freedom of ALL religions, and that the students should be allowed to practice their own beliefs on their own. A public school is not the place and should not be the place where the students are forced to all practice a specific religion. It's unfair to anyone else on the team who is not of the Christian faith, and it's even been suggested he looks down on the ones who don't participate. If sermonizing to students is that important to him, he should consider coaching at a Christian school.
If the FFRF is really this outraged by the situation, a more proactive approach would be to offer free meals to the team themselves. Angry words and empty threats is just a poor way of going about things.

I am confused about something, do atheist not eat out, or at event, or family members? Do they grow, raise, and slaughter their own food? How do they prevent eating from a Christian?
I see your point.
But then God can do as He likes.
The question is, do you think that the genocides commited in the bible (against extremely violent, unrighteous, bloodthirsty ancient communities), amount to a greater evil than God letting them live to pillage and burn?
I hear the question so many times 'If God is so loving, why does He allow bad things to happen to good people?'
Well, Satan is actually the cause of evil. But when God destroys the tempted and the corrupted, then it's 'Why does God order genocide?'
We are all commited to die no matter what.
The law of sin and death was a harsh law for a harsh people.
But aside form that. There were no new testament genocides.
Jesus fulfilled the debt owed to God for sin.
But yes, people using the term 'Christian' and then starting wars, most certainly are not hearing God's real message.
War and violence in God's name is sickening.

The fact that we are all alive and breathing is a miracle. You need to bow your head and repent instead shooting off at the mouth to a God you are gonna have to stand before on judgement day.
Miracles that were performed in ancient times were normally done to PROVE of the existence of God. Miracles in the OT were done to protect the chosen people.
The bible speaks of wars and "rumors of wars". If you want to get technical, wars have to happen in order to fulfill prophecies. God can do what he wants, but that does not mean he will miraculously interfere with wars and other types of killing. Our reward is Heaven. Not earth.
I agree and believe that this life is wonderful and beautiful. However, that doesn't prove that there was a creator or the divinity of Jesus Christ.
This is not a thread to argue the existence of God. There are many threads on this forum for that.
How do you say with absolute certainty that you know what God wants? How can you speak
for God saying that you understand his will? How does anyone KNOW?
Sorry but Bubba is making an assertion without any evidence whatsoever. How do you teach your children to believe in this stuff
without any evidence? Do you say "if you don't believe in it then you will burn in hell?" That is childhood indoctrination and is a
form of mental abuse. I'm afraid many of the forum members here are victims of this.

HolyMoly if people teach their kids Christianity in that fashion, yes, I agree.
But think of it this way.
Christianity, when taught as it should be, is a powerful moral tool. It is more than that to the believer.
But even an atheist such as yourself, if you are asking these questions, must have studied the bible.
Demominationalism has ruined the spirit of what the book really means in a lot of ways.
The fact is that the evidence is simple. Is a world of love better than a world of hatred, my friend?
We define love as an emotion.
God defines it as more than that.
It is actively being patient, kind. Stifling envy. Refraining from boastfullness and pride. It is learning not to dishonour others or seek for oneself but to focus on giving. It is learning to control anger. To forgive. To put faith in humanity and in God.
'Christianity', as a religion, in the eyes of many, is nothing but hypocritical, and I understand how you feel. I felt like that once.
It's hard to see the good when the professing believers make it so easy to despise them at times.
But I tell you, event he Buddha has more of the secret of the Holy Spirit than many professing Christians and Muslims.
The two religions have become a by-word for hatred. Which saddens me.

I apologize to Elizabeth, who started this thread, but it bears mentioning that this is a lie. Hitler was an atheist. Most of Germany in the 1940's, of those who claimed any religion, were Protestants, not Catholics. Hitler ordered the killing of many Christian preachers who wouldn't go along with his hate.
