God is awesome! And He knows us even more than we know ourselves.
After high school I did not know exactly what I wanted for college degree. Because I liked understanding human behavior, listening and helping out troubled friends, I thought of taking up psychology. I also liked arts, designing, decorating and organizing so I also thought of studying fine arts. But back then, I felt inferior to say so because I felt I'm not "that" talented to probably even qualify through the entrance exam. And for practical reasons, as those courses did not hold much guarantee for a job at that time, I chose what was "popular" back then - Nursing. I also decided on it, thinking, the knowledge and skills I would gain will not only help me earn a living but it will also be very useful in emergency situations and family life later on.
Years passed. God brought me through so many different experiences working in many different places doing many different things sometimes even all at the same time - God's grace is amazing! - and I must say, I've learned and grown from them. But deep inside, my passion for the arts kept burning. I felt fulfilled, ecstatic, and satisfied when I saw the completion of our newly built house in April of this year. Upon moving in, I spent three days putting everything in place decorating, and setting things in order I didn't mind being sleep deprived. I realized, this is what I love to do. I didn't know exactly how to pursue that desire but I just kept praying for God's guidance. The other day, my husband and I decided to inquire about the course (Interior Design) at the only university that offers it here. Knowing that it was impractical for me to actually go through another 4yr.course (a Bachelor of Science degree on Interior design), I was hoping for a short-course option like a Diploma or training certificate. However, God always knows best. I was directed to the office of the program chairperson who was so nice and accomodating. And after finding out about my credentials, she told me I can practically finish the degree (Bachelor of Science in Interior Design) in about 1 and a half to 2yrs.max! She said I didnt need all the minor subjects anymore. Wow! That got me even more excited!
Then came the crucial part. I knew I needed to speak to my Dad about it because we did not have the means. This was in fact the perfect time as he is also now into the business of creating a subdivision/building houses. I thought that when I'm done with the course, I can partner with him. So I prayed once more for favor. That afternoon, Dad called inviting us for pizza. I got excited seeing how God is orchestrating everything. As I began to speak, I still kept praying in my heart that when I was done, he just said, "Ok, that's great! That is a good thing to do. Find out how much it will cost you qnd just let me know." At that moment, I was like at cloud nine, smiling almost the rest of the time. We are but an average family. But late last year, my Dad just started to experience God's amazing financial blessing that we too, were able to experience as well. It has not been extravagant and lavish, however. But I must say, it's something we've never experienced growing up as we've always lived with "just enough" or even sometimes, "not enough".
Enrollment is next week. My heart unceasingly bows in praise and gratitude at what God is doing in my life. Through the highs and lows He leads us to the very purposes He has laid in our hearts, all for His honor and glory. His timing is always perfect indeed!
