This just came to mind after watching another conversation between some people, so I thought I'd write what I feel about it since I have had the opportunity to witness to a lot of people since I joined the site.
What is witnessing to you?
Witnessing to me is not just having lived a good and holy life. It's not having had a good walk with God for a mojority of your life. This is not to say you can't be a good witness, but from my personal experience, the longer you have been lost, or the more sins you have been bound by, the more powerful and effective your witnessing will be.
Why?
Well because you can relate to people who are lost better. If you haven't been through the things you have been through and been a witness to the healing power of Christ, then these people you are trying to reach won't even give you the time of day in most cases. Your words will seem hollow and unimportant because "you dunno what it's like because you don't understand what I'm going through".
In a lot of cases I think you could measure the strength of faith on the same scale, though not always, and really this is a dangerous assumption so don't hold me to this belief.
Witnessing is one of the most powerful tools God gives us and all who have come to Christ are a witness. Use this gift. It is powerful.
Anyway. Just a random thought.
