Mandatory flu shot or be fired?

You can claim an exemption through your religious beliefs.
Do some research and look it up.
They can't fire you for not taking it.
Like the Lion who goes about seeking whom he MAY devour, they will
fuss and steam.........

I am looking for a balance .. Trying not to get to extreme.. This shot being mandatory to the point of getting fired seems a bit extreme to one side with no balance I am praying about this and I know God will show me a fine balance in His word.. I sure appreciate you guys ..
 
The answer just came ...
The whole laying down your life for your friend .. Patients come in with immune suppression leaving then vulnerable ...not to mention trusting God in this , and more so trusting Him with a foreign body " part" in their body.. So is my resistance trust or doubt? the patient being the weaker vessel at this conclusion brings me to a decision to do what's in the best interest of the patient and trust God through it.... one
Must look at the whole body of Christ, not an individual body part . Thanks so much everyone .. Have a wonderful day in tue Lord

The flu shot gives you a small bit of the flu.
How is this good for the weakened immune systems you will be around?

When you get it expect to be sickly for a while after it.

Plus there are many, multitudinous, various strains of the flu.
The one they inject millions of people with is NEVER the one that comes.

You want to treat the sickly around you with loving kindness? - Eat right and exercise.......stay healthy.
Don't inject a foreign germ into your system.

I just feel I should point out this:
There is no guarantee that your patients will not get the flu just because you get the shot. All it does is (hopefully) make you resistant to it, you can still carry the flu.

However, if you feel God says you should do it, you definitely should listen more to Him than me :)
 
Concerning people who are very ill, for example, kidney failure, I suggegest taking the flu shot. When your body is already very weak from severe illness, contracting the flu could possibly kill you.

There was a study of senior citizens: the sample was those that took
the flu shot five consecutive years, (from 1970 to 1980) and those who didn't.
Those who had flu shots for five consecutive years during that time period had a ten time, (count 'em) - 10x
greater chance of getting alzheimer's disease.
The study was conducted by one Dr. Fudenburg : Alzheimer's Disease 10 Times Greater After Flu Shots?

I cant believe you are spreading this garbage,this is why people are scared of vaccinations, the flu has nothing to do with Alzheimers, you CANOT cath the flue from the flue vaccine, and you are also quoting some old research data decades old, of course they also used to treat people with leaches
 
what's wrong with leeches?

they secrete an enzyme that helps with blood clotting and eat tissue with the bacteria or disease agent and cleanse old wounds of dead flesh so that the body can heal by creating new flesh and not having to deal with the old dead tissue in the way.

as for the flu shot. I would trust God in it. Its your body, God will protect His people, even to the extent that poison will not kill you before your time if you are doing God's will and not out of selfish interest and concern for self.

there are a lot of different flu shots. the flu mist is a live attenuated virus. the flu shot is typically a dead or inactivated virus. your bodies immune system produce memory cells and all you really save is time when the flu virus enters your system

its not about if you will catch the flu, but whether your body will be strong enough to resist the virus once it enters your body. whether you will become sick because of it.

I think our physical body models for us what is happening in the spiritual realm. not that sick people are sinful but how we are to fight the spiritual body can be taught by how God has equipped us with physical bodily defenses to fight off physical attacks.

for example the pathogen enters the body in a point of entry/ sin enters by either our eyes seeing and lusting after something or our pride being pricked and us becoming made or our flesh craving for things God did not already give us.

next we can either recognize it as abnormal and not in God's plan or we can ignore it and allow it to spread like cancer or infected cells/virus

Sin is like a virus we should recognize it and reject it but too often it disguises itself as an enveloped virus and pretends to be one of our own cells. However just as God gave our physical bodies ways to resist and fight off physical illness He shows us how to STAND and overcome spiritual illness as well.

remember this physical body is but a temporary vessel that will be discarded. we care for it because our bodies are temples to our Most High God and we are His creation and out of love of Him we care for ourselves too. However, if we pray about it all things are lawful but not all helpful or edifying. you have to ask God what to do. I do not believe taking the flu shot will harm or help you physically if your immune system is strong. but then drinking spiritual poison would not either if you have the discernment to know truth from lies, good from evil.

They don't even know for sure what causes Alzheimer's so how can you say factually that the flu shot doesn't cause Alzheimer's?

Actually he said taking the shot means they are more likely to get it. He did not say it causes it. There IS a difference.
 
the original poster works in the medical field around people with weakened immune systems, this is the reason for the requirement, the flu could KILL the people being cared for, it's not about a person choice, or anything like that, it's a requirement to work in that field, if someone cannot meet the requirements of the medical field they should find another line of work. not being ugly, but it's very selfish to risk peoples lives because of not wanting an immunization
 
I am in the military and also work in the medical side. It is mandatory and I have received the shot every year and have never had any side effects. I believe you also said that you put your trust in God to keep you healthy. I feel that you are tempting God. The Lord wants us to use common sense. Working in the medial industry requires us to do things that other career fields don't have to do. If you didn't get the shot and you get sick and cause your patient's to get sick then your boss has a bigger problem. I say get the shot, your hospital is looking at the big picture.

And no, I am not one of those against all shots people, I think most of them are good. I do however see no need for a mass vaccination against a common flu
 
for those who don't understand how an immunization works, the body is tricked into making antibodies for a specific virus, it's either a dead virus or a very weakened virus that cant cause you to become sick, once the body is exposed to this, it builds immune cells specifically to fight the virus. If you didn't have the vaccination, the virus would overwhelm your body before the immune system could do this same thing, and you would become sick, with the vaccine your body has a memory of that virus and is prepared to fight it immediately ,preventing you from becoming sick in the first place. Just being exposed to the virus does not make you contagious to others, the body fights it off before it ever reaches that level in your body, you need a new flu shot every year because the virus mutates and there are also other strains, the vaccination is for the particular strain that is most likely to make you sick
 
I didnt say the vaccine is dangerous to the patients, I said that a person who got the vaccine can still carry the virus, I know this by talking to healthcareworkers and from my nurse studies.

Vaccines against viruses that remain the same = great.
Vaccines against viruses that mutate once a year or more = pointless

if you are vaccinated, the body will fight off the virus before it ever becomes contagious to others, we need the vaccinations against the "common" flu, because ir can become a pandemic very easy, it' also very dangerous to a lot of people and does kill, in this case the requirements for the vaccination are due to working in the medical field, around people who could be killed easily by the virus

The study was finished and published in October 1997.
The SHOTS were given from 1970 to 1980; not the study.
Don't let science get in the way of your illogical mind.
 
B.T.W. - Since I know you won't read it, he stated the cause could have been
the adjunct thimerosal (mercury), that is added as a preservative.

--- Also, the influenza virus has thousands of strains and mutations.
One certain shot only covers you for that particular strain.
There is no possible way they can predict which one will be most common, they just take a guess,
and make a $ killing in the process.
