The Lord has blessed your eyes.

To see a quote like that shows the Lord still speaks to his children, and his children can still hear from the Lord.

The Christian nation has become a nation of book worms not satisfied with the depth of boundless oceans of the bible, but prefer to piddle around in puddles.

Every preacher and his dog has a book or two for sale, when in the book of Acts they burned the books.

Acts 19:19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

Of all the books the Christian church has, the church is still a mess, maybe this is the problem.

I assume you aren't suggesting we burn books. I do want to note this about the books that they burned. It was those who used curious arts -- these are the ones who brought together all their books.
Isn't curious arts like divining strange spirits?

If the book is about the church I loved -- BAD POPES -- don't know the authors name but it was a fast read.
If the book is about whatever we find interesting -- I have always loved Isaac Asimov's The Foundation ( the entire trilogy )

I don't see this huge problem with the church. I have found their heart to be right. My problem is with those who rebel against God. They can be a huge problem.

The church, the body of Christ? Yes, I think it is in great shape. I believe the body has loved as Jesus asked them to, even their enemies.
If you are just talking about doctrines and traditions and endless debates, yes it causes strife and divisions.
That is about ideas, principalities if you will. That is not the church, that is completely someone else ha ha ha

I am reading a little classic called Guidance to Heaven which explains how to navigate in this life to heaven in the next. It talks about God as our last end and how everyone must be ready to die. It contains counsels on overcoming various sins and acquiring virtues.

2Pe 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2Pe 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
2Pe 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

smart answer clever even

so can you point to this body of Christ that's in great shape that's loving their enemies ?

you do know that loving your enemies was a very small part of what Jesus asks us to do?

you do know that

Matt7:21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

i promote Jesus is the word, and that we should get to know the Bible like the back of your hand. and that the words he speaks are spirit and life, and to hide the word in your heart that you might not in against him, and that the word is a lamp unto are feet, and a light unto are path. and that to sit at his feet and learn of him is more important that serves.

what do you promote ?

Here is something to ponder -- you are pointing a finger at other christians as a problem in the church -- isn't this assuming it is not you who is guilty? I don't see a problem because I know God loves His children.
Who is it that accuses us day and night before God.
There is a reason we are told to edify each other.
Anyway I can't look down my nose at the body of Christ the end of it turns up and points at me.

Paul said this about preaching Jesus.... Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: Php 1:16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: Php 1:17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. Php 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

I read my Bible, and God LOVES it when we come to Him as individuals to be TAUGHT by His Spirit. God is the ONLY one that can REVEAL His Word unto individuals. And He does so to whom HE wants. I found it is the ones that WANTS to know God.

It is amazing that Jesus said everlasting life is.... to know God and the One He sent! How would I get to know God if HE is unavailable? Or in hiding. Nope when the vail was torn, the WAY was opened.... My advice... Spend as much time with God in the Bible as you possibly can, that will REALLY open up God to you!

God said in 1 John 3 that the sinners NEVER knew Him, neither SEEN HIM.... Can we see God, while we are here on earth? YES WE CAN! The prophet said.... Your teachers will not be hidden in a corner ANY MORE, but thine EYES SHALL SEE THEM, and thou ears shall hear the voice...
Isa_30:20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:

Christians don't like there idols rooted out or pulled down and thrown down and destroyed do they.

And God forbid that you purge out the leaven, especially if Christians love the leaven.

remember that God is a jealous God and he will have no other Gods before him.

Jeremiah 1:10See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

remember the first commandment

Mark 12:30nAnd thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

this must be a sensitive subject

Don't be naive, GoD can use books, too, and, does, the Lord leads. Follow Him.

All this I only read the Word is bunk, God leads us to good other stuff. Was the bible the only inspired book? God uses people NOW too, writing books.

Timekeeper - Mitch Albom
Things to Come- Dwight Pentecost
I read my bible more than once a day, if at all posdible.

Here are 66 books that you might like the "Hole Bible" but you pretty much have to be very Desperately Hungry to read it.

Christians spend more time reeding mans opinions about the bible than they do reading the word of God.

Mort Christians have never read the whole Bible but they have read lots of books about the Bible. I suppose its better than nothing.

Matt13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

wheat and tares let both grow together until the harvest YES, but I would like to find out which are the wheat NOW if you don't mind.

What don't you think we should be Purging out leaven
a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.. its not too late you can do it too.

1 Corinthians 5:6Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
7Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Godly people have always been led to learning. People who purposely close their minds often also are unable to understand God’s words. Learning is always good as long as God is kept as the truth and source, men’s ideas must be measured by God’s ideas.

For books I love, I found fiction books that report quite accurately the times of various biblical people. I was reading history but these books do the research work and make reading history fun. Steve Copland wrote “Mary Magdalene” that gives a picture of life at the time Christ lived with us. Lynn Austen wrote four novels about the time of King Hezekiah and lots about happenings at that time. Anita Diamant did a wonderful research job for her book "The Red Tent" about Dinah and her mother Leah, and also Rebecca. I also enjoyed “Song of Hannah” by Eva Etzioni Halevy.
