what is true forgiveness ?
A type of true, genuine, deep peace that is indescribable in the written language. A person has to experience what it feels like for themselves before they can understand real forgiveness. Until then, it's just a word.

True forgiveness is when you do not want to do harm to the person but instead seek to do good. Replace hate with love. You will pray for the person. If you see the person you will be able to hug the person or be with the person without any resentment or hate but instead with love. You keep no record of wrong.
When you can feel all this, then you know you have truly forgiven the person.

Ooh I thought of a way to kind of describe it! 
Forgiveness is having absolutely no emotional baggage attached to a particular person or situation they caused. Like Twinkle said, replace the hate with love.
You can even harbor unforgiveness of yourself and not realize, cause it's so familiar. Got to watch for that, it's sneaky.

True forgiveness is the active quality of ones life following a moment where forgiveness became necessary. Proceeding as though we realize that no one is perfect and not everyone is going to Love continuously. Not even ourselves. We learn from our mistakes as well as others mistakes. Jesus said no one is good but The father. Later, as He hung from a cross, He said; Forgive them Father, They do not know what they are doing. Even in Jesus darkest hour He knew to depend on the only true forgiveness, Gods. As we are called to be imitators of Jesus it is necessary to draw on the only one capable of that forgiveness, Jesus said What I see the Father doing, that I also do. It is by faith that we experience true forgiveness. That forgiveness is passed on through us, but not from us alone. We do not know how to pray as we should, or to forgive as we should. It is our faith that makes us whole. In all aspects of life.

God talked to me and taught me how to forgive. I would like to share it with you. My husband committed adultery multiple times, after years of this I couldn't take it anymore, and I asked him to leave which he did. It was going on four years, and i still had bitterness and anger. My best friend told me how important it was to forgive, and I wanted to but i didn't know how. I wanted to have a marriage with him, but I couldn't unless he changed. I also knew I had to forgive him either way. One day when I was relaxing I asked God to help me forgive him then I heard a voice in my head and it said "Imagine a hand going inside your heart and pulling out all that bitterness and angry" then the voice said hold your hands out which I did. I imagined seeing the hand dumping it in my hands. I imagined it looked like liquid black tar. Then the voice said "Now imagine that hand going into your head and pulling out all those memories of pain" Then the hand dumped it in my hands. The voice said "Look at that do you want that in you?" I said no then the voice said. "why" I said cause its killing me physically and mentally. Then the voice said what are you going to do with it? Before I could think about what I was going to do with it. I saw Jesus in front of me with his hands out saying "Give it to me". I knew right then how to forgive. God taught me how. First we have to know it's one of God's law to forgive. Then we have to see it for what it is and what it does to us. Unforgiveness causes pain the bitterness and angry causes us to not be able to live in peace and contentment. Forgiveness doesn't mean that the other person was right for what they did. Wrong is wrong no matter what, and you don't have to continue the relationship with other person either for he or she may continue hurting you, but in order to have peace and contentment you must forgive. I hope I was able to teach someone how to forgive like God taught me. God bless you all.

Forgiveness - Showing mercy towards someone who doesnt deserve it,... Just as christ does for us.. His grace gives us more than we do deserve... He tells us to go and do likewise towards others....
