That's very interesting, Lightning. :)

I don't mean to imply that all christians should be INFJs or anything. Hope I didn't offend anyone. :) I've just been curious as to what impact being molded into the image of Christ may have on our personalities.

Clearly Peter, Paul, Martha and Joshua were completely different personality types than David, John and Mary of Bethany, but all were certainly godly people. :) We all have different purposes that would call for different personality types.

CS Lewis rightly likened faith to salt in a different way than most. Salt brings pre-existing good flavor out of the food. It enhances the meal in this way.

There are, then, different kinds of meals that salt does this with. The Holy Spirit brings the best out of us all and sometimes these attributes are different than what others might have.

God has helped control and enhance my propensity to be an analyzer. He does the same with others.

Through his help I have seen the best part of my personality enhanced, and the worse, with help, quietly subdued.

God enjoys unity and diversity. We are one in the faith and ideals. These ideals often reflect INFJ-esque wisdom, but they are still everyone's ideals. For this reason Christians tend to swing more NFJ while taking the test. Believe it or not, I was an ENFJ while taking the test at 15. It wasn't until a retest years later in which I was more honest about myself that I realized I was an NT of some kind and that God made me that way for a special reason.

Good explanation, Ritter :) That's exactly the sort of thing I was asking about.

I wonder too how age and life experience may impact us in this way. I wish I had taken the test at an early age.

Okay I have to say something....

A person's personality goes through a maturation period and doesn't fully develop into their 20's.

I dunno. When I was a kid I was pretty INFP-ish.

The received wisdom of MBTI is that your purest answers would be given at an earlier age. Sometimes I wonder if I'm an NF in denial.

This video doesn't help.

INFJ's who think they are INTJ/INTP (part 1 of 2) - YouTube
That was a long video. Ha, I dunno. I guess if nothing else she kind of caused me to step back from the tests and really focus on what it means to be an INTJ/INFJ. Taking this approach, I'd say that I truly am an INFJ. I do very strongly have that non-verbal intuition attributed to INFJs and am pretty emotional; I struggle, though, to understand people that make emotional decisions. This seems to be the key to me not scoring INFJ on the test.

Oh well, until I have some need to know for sure, I'll just waver in the middle. :)

I think it's important to note that God uses us all just as He made us and what you were, what you are, does not matter alone, or, at all, eventually , IF we don't remember that God wants to use us for His plans and purposes and human doings. :) I am content to be whatever letters God wants me to be , for Ivknow that cognizance will bring best appreciation of my gifts spiritually which will definitely have an effect on things heavenly. Read Matt. 16:27 for full understanding of what was just said :)

I too liked your salt example for Holy Spirit, ritt, I think it's Isaiah 11 that defines all the qualities of help He is for us in our lives.
I would take the spiritual gifts test too, one at least, takes approx. 45 min. . AND, sigh, I knoew, lightnin', i still needvto take the othervgifts test, i'm glad you did, i pray God shows you lots :)

Interesting video (I was a bit distracted though and found myself wanting to clean her basement haha)

Particularly agree with: the necessity of compartmentalization; perfectionism (everything from work to my house to my personal appearance; would love to be less so); ability to separate the public persona from the internal persona of a person/hidden motives and intentions (which can be very unnerving).

As I have gotten older, I think I have become far more harshly judgmental toward myself than others; far more patient with perceived shortcomings in others; and far more able to not show what I'm thinking/feeling, which is sort of what I was talking about fruit of the Spirit wise (patience and self-control).

I do get the impression that you feel far more deeply than you allow yourself to express, Ritter.

Lightning, I think life's lessons teach us to make more balanced decisions between our hearts and our minds, as following our hearts too often can leave us pretty battered, huh?

I find it interesting based from these results (which are really far too few for a conjecture, really) there seem to be 4 types that are at least more gravitated toward this page of the forum. Perhaps something in those personalities opens them up to things like this?

*edit*

Wait, there is! They're all introverted types!

For those of you talking about changing functions as you get older.

As the video describes he talkes more about "Developing" lesser functions rather than changing functions.

Thanks, Liamson! This addresses a portion of the questions I have, but nothing regarding the impact of the regenerative work of the Holy Spirit. That's the part that really makes me curious. :) Has anyone else found information on this?

I will say that some of the writings of Ichazo I found on the matter trouble me from a christian perspective.

I hear you there, but I'm INFJ off the 'in-class' 200-300 question Meyers-Briggs that you have to pay for.

With regard to age, I have found information regarding tendencies toward primary functions in children, auxiliary functions as teens, tertiary functioning in the 20s and further development into the 30s. Some spoke of elderly patients who were likely extroverts at a younger age testing as introverts because, at that point, they are simply less interested in interaction. Some even talked about asking elderly patients to answer the tests as they would have in their 20s for more accurate results.

That makes sense. Many of these tests actually ask you to answer as truthfully as possible 'how you were when you were a child' and then again as you are know. I'm not entirely sure how this balances and makes it more accurate, but they also tell you to let someone who knows you best take it for you too.

If everything yields the same result, then you're that type. There are two types who don't like being labeled as types, so they'll have to get over it! =p

To be honest, I'm not thrilled about labels either :) I find it all very interesting and somewhat helpful as a tool, but I couldn't wrap my life around it at all.
