I also like reading as well. I have as much favorite authors as I have books. I one time decided to read a book by authors who were against Christianity and while they had some ''good'' points. The sole authority they were relying on was Robert Eisenmann. You know it is dangerous also when someone calls Josephus unreliable and tries to say Acts should have mentioned Julius Caesar. Also, that they would try to connect Peter and Paul together like people in some spy novel. That book was called The Dead Sea Scroll Deception and to be good for the environment, I recycled it and hope someone makes a Bible from paper that was used to produce the book. Crazy, anyway here is a list of authors I like, hopefully not an exhaustive list. I am not ranking these authors just listing them.
1. C.S. Lewis
2. J.R.R. Tolkien (can't wait for The Hobbit on DVD)
3. John Piper
4. Isaac Asimov
5. Marvin Rosenthal (who wrote The Pre-Wrath Rapture of the Church)
6. Rick Warren (his Purpose-Driven Life)
7. Lee Strobel (his book The Case for Christ is very helpful)
As for other authors I read, it deals with science fiction. At one time, I was obsessed with UFO stuff, but I think God my attention and indicated for me to stop that. Also, I like the book by Hybels called The Contagious Christian. Finally, I have only read one chapter of the first Left Behind book by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins (while I don't agree with dispensational tribulation or whatever it was ). God bless you all and keep the faith.
