Amen Cav. I see no one hating on anyone whom is gay. Unfortunatley the hating and bullying seems to be directed towards people who stand firm on Gods word. The source of this evil is not about hating gays but about the elections and bullying those who object to liberal views.

About gay marriage-
I am reminded that anyone can go to court house and obtain a man-made certifcate of marriage and reap the benefits they so desire, however a gay couple can not stand before God and have their marriage blessed as "ONE"in the eyes of God. A Christian marriage is a vow before God between a man and a woman. No man made law can over rule that. AMEN, the paper is a man made law anyway. Worthless before the eyes of God.

I am grateful my children do not hate others whom are different. If anything my children reach out to them and show them friendship.

My sister in law is gay, and we love her dearly. But my children know that her lifestyle is unexceptable in the eyes of God. As a parent it is my responsibility to teach my children the path they should follow.

Matt: 7:14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

I see no one hating on anyone whom is gay.
Consider yourself lucky. Sadly, there still is gay-bashing. I would have to say it's better than it has been, but there's still a lot out there, especially in rural areas.

Unfortunatley the hating and bullying seems to be directed towards people who stand firm on Gods word.
Yes, sadly, there is also a back-lash of hatred against Christians and other people of faith. Believe it or not, I am a victim of Christian-bashing as well, so I know what you're talking about. It is sad, and equally wrong as gay-bashing.

The source of this evil is not about hating gays but about the elections and bullying those who object to liberal views.
Oh, don't worry, there's plenty of fraud on both sides of the aisles. Plenty of sin to go around, you need not fear that you'll be left out of the vice.

About gay marriage-
I am reminded that anyone can go to court house and obtain a man-made certifcate of marriage and reap the benefits they so desire,
This is not true. In MOST of the 50 states in the US (I've lost track of which states have passed which laws, but it is certainly, more than half) a gay couple can NOT go to a court house and obtain a man-made certificate of marriage. And in the few states where gay marriage is allowed, it is only recognized in those states, and not by the federal government nor by other states.

This is exactly what they want, nothing more. They just want to reap the legal, non-religious benefits heterosexual couples currently enjoy.

Can I assume, from your statement here, that you agree that gays should be able to reap these benefits? It sounds to me as if you honestly were unaware that gays could not get married in a court house in most states, and now that you are aware of the loss of civil rights, perhaps you can join me in fighting for these simple rights?

If you were truly unaware of the injustice, then I can understand your stance entirely. Why, indeed, should the government "force" Christians to accept the holiness of something they claim. The government has no business telling churches what to do!

however a gay couple can not stand before God and have their marriage blessed as "ONE"in the eyes of God.
I have met very few gay couples who want this. And I will promise you this: if the federal government of the US ever tries to tell churches that they HAVE to allow gays to be married in churches, I will absolutely stand with you in opposition, and defend churches' rights. You should not be forced to accept things that go against your beliefs, I absolutely agree.

Just know that what gays are talking about here is not some religious rite or ceremony, but a simple legal, man-made certificate, and the legal, civil rights guaranteed thereby. That's all.

A Christian marriage is a vow before God between a man and a woman. No man made law can over rule that.
I totally and 100% agree!

As a born again Spirit filled Christian I stand behind God's holy word, written by those who were moved of the Holy Spirit. His word is truth, and His word does not change, nor is He swayed by man's opinions, ideas, beliefs, or doctrines that they may have. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He does not change. Clearly in His holy word it says homosexuality is a sin, and should not be supported. If a person supports something, then what that really means is that they are okay with it and agree that it is okay to do. How can one who is a so called Christian claim to follow God, and obey Him, yet they stand for the things which He clearly hates. Jesus said either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad.

Now with this being said, Jesus died for homosexuality to be forgiven, just as He died for all sins to be forgiven. He does not hate the gays, salvation is for all. Sin is deeply rooted and motivated by the devil. When a person sins, they are not obedient unto God. They are in disobedience. We have to choose every day either good or bad. I have learned this in my life, having made some foolish choices, listened to the wrong voices, and being tossed around, led astray by sin. I was not lead astray by homosexuality, but I was still in sin. But I know whom I serve, and it is not a lying, murdering devil that offers momentary pleasure which leads to eternal damnation. I choose to serve Christ, the obedient Son, because He is far greater than the wicked one, and He is the truth, and He loves me. And if I make a mistake, He washes me, and makes me clean.

People today have become watered down in their faith, afraid to make a stand for what is right, afraid to be separated from the "in crowd", and are only interested in pleasing men and not God. The Bible states that men would call good evil, and evil good. That is what we are seeing today.

And yes, people will accuse those who stand against homosexuality, and say that we are just not walking in love. So let me ask this, Is God love? When He punishes the wicked, is He still not a God of love? Does His love just disappear? Is He not a God of love, yet also a God of Justice? Does it not clearly state in the word to repent and turn away from sin, so that we can live?

same sex marrage should be totaly outlawed because GOD created marrage to be between a man and women. and we love all humans because GOD loves all humans BUT that does not mean we have to like or condone what they do. we should always strive to be a very GODLY nation and world and that includes following all that GOD said and says.

Actually, though it's not in the Bill of Rights, there are laws on our books, mostly at the state level, but a few at the national level, that grant certain rights based on marital status, and currently those rights are afforded ONLY to those in heterosexual marriages. So your statement is incorrect.

There is nothing in the constitution (the Bill of Rights are amendments to the United States Constitution) that addresses marriage. The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) enacted September 21, 1996, is a United States federal law that defines marriage as the legal union of one man and one woman for federal and inter-state recognition purposes in the United States. It is the only federal law addressing a definition of marriage. If you would care to reread what was posted, you would see I specifically stated law(s) within the united states constitution and you would see then that my statement is totally correct.
“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.” Romans 13:1-7

And I don't need you to confess to me, or anyone on this board, where you fit. You only need to confess your sins to God. If you want to confess them publicly, you're certainly welcome to, and this is one of many forums where, I'd like to think, we would be loving and forgiving and gracious, as our Father is gracious. But judgment is not ours.

How magnanimous of you to not only judge me as a sinner but allow me your forgiveness! Are you this generous with everyone? Or, do you automatically label any who would rather follow the bible than mans ~wisdom~ as a sinner?
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Matthew 7:3

I know a few people who hate straights. They call us "breeders" and want us all to go away. Yes, they do exist, too. I get where it comes from, but that doesn't make it right.

Did i say either extreme was right?
But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. Matthew 5:37

NAMBLA no, because it is against the law, and a very serious law called pedophilia.
As for Sharia law, we should tolerate it within other countries, but since it violates our own constitution (separation of church and state), then we cannot entertain "tolerating" it insofar as allowing it to be law here.
As for NRA and KKK, absolutely YES we need to tolerate them. Why not? As long as they do not break the law, we should ABSOLUTELY tolerate those who are different. Or who are the same. As long as the NRA does not start encouraging its members to overthrow the government through violent and unconstitutional means, they should be tolerated and even supported, as they protect our 2nd amendment rights. I disagree with them sometimes, but I do believe in the right to bear arms. And as for the KKK, I'd much rather have them out in the open, in the light, to see what they're doing, than drive them behind secret closed doors, and let them perpetuate their hate like cockroaches under the kitchen sink. By all means, let us tolerate the intolerant!

In the 1972 Gay Rights Platform Platform created at the National Coalition of Gay Organizations Convention held in Chicago in 1972 one of the demands put forth was the elimination of age restrictions on children for consensual sex. This, is also on NAMBLA's agenda.
Separation of church and state is not in the constitution. This phrase came from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptist Association in 1802. What the constitution actually says is "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;" Under Sharia law, if you are a christian, you would be dead, period. "Allah is an enemy to unbelievers." - Sura 2:98 "Slay them wherever ye find them and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter." - Sura 2:191
According to the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Since its inception in 1871 the National Rifle Association (NRA) is America's foremost defender of Second Amendment rights.
Founded in 1866, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is a racist, anti-Semitic movement with a commitment to extreme violence to achieve its goals of racial segregation and white supremacy. What is fascinating here is that a law abiding, constitutionally supported group (the NRA) is placed in the same catagory as the KKK, a admitedly violent organization, by you.
"Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." Matthew 7:20

As this is a Christian web site, if you wish to base your arguments on the bible, go for it.
Unfortunately, everything you have said is merely your personal opinion.

cavil -- you did not use the "quote" feature, so it was very difficult for me to figure out what you were saying, when you were quoting me and when you were stating your own views and/or responses. In the future, if you use the "quote" feature, so the reader can tell your own opinion from what you are quoting, that would be most helpful. Thanks!

I had said:
Actually, though it's not in the Bill of Rights, there are laws on our books, mostly at the state level, but a few at the national level, that grant certain rights based on marital status, and currently those rights are afforded ONLY to those in heterosexual marriages. So your statement is incorrect.

Your response to this included:
{DOMA} is the only federal law addressing a definition of marriage.

It seems as though we are in agreement, then, at least on this point. Very good.

I had said:
And I don't need you to confess to me, or anyone on this board, where you fit. You only need to confess your sins to God. If you want to confess them publicly, you're certainly welcome to, and this is one of many forums where, I'd like to think, we would be loving and forgiving and gracious, as our Father is gracious. But judgment is not ours.

Your response:
How magnanimous of you to not only judge me as a sinner but allow me your forgiveness!

Now it is your turn to need to re-read what was written. I very clearly stated I was NOT judging, and it is NOT for me to judge at all. God alone can judge. I said that initially, and I stand by it.

You continue:
Or, do you automatically label any who would rather follow the bible than mans ~wisdom~ as a sinner?
Quite the contrary. I don't "label" anyone a sinner. I label "sin" anything that separates me from God. Where I have sinned, according to the Word of God, I repent and ask for forgiveness. As far as what other people do, that is not for me to decide, label, or judge. See above.

Btw, I'm not sure if you realize you got that backwards up there: sin would be following man's wisdom as opposed to God, not the other way around. I couldn't quite tell if you were being snarky or if you made a typo. I do not follow man's wisdom, or woman's wisdom, or any human wisdom. I follow God's rule of love. If you don't like the rules I follow, you can take it up with God. I make no apologies for that.

You said:
Did i say either extreme was right?

No, to my knowledge you did not. It appears, then, that in at least one more thing, again, we agree. This is good.

How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity! {Psalm 133}

You said:

How horrible!

As soon as I read this sentence of yours, I went online immediately to find out more about this "National Coalition of Gay Organizations," to see who the member groups were, to make sure none of the groups that I supported had anything to do with it, to find out if they had since retracted that platform, etc. Ick!

Imagine my surprise at what I found out. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, on this group. No such group exists or ever existed, according to federal records. There was no such convention in Chicago or in any other city in 1972 or any other time with anything remotely like what you are stating here.

I did, however, see references to this by various anti-gay hate groups who continually refused to provide sources for this information. I find it interesting that the only people who seem to know about this "National Coalition of Gay Organizations" are conservative Christians, and none of the gay activists who normally rally for gay rights have ever heard of it.

You may want to check out snopes or another myth-busting site.

You say:

Once again, we are in agreement. That is THREE items! Shall we try for four, my brother?

According to the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Since its inception in 1871 the National Rifle Association (NRA) is America's foremost defender of Second Amendment rights.
And there it is. I disagree with some of what NRA does, but I do support its primary purpose - to defend the 2nd Amendment.

I did not match up the NRA and the KKK. You did. You referred to four groups / ethics, asking if they should all be "tolerated." The groups you listed were, in order, NAMBLA, Shaira law, NRA, and KKK. I don't know why you chose those 4 groups. I don't know why you would chose to put NRA and KKK side by side like that. Perhaps you can tell me what significance those 4 items have, and then we'll both know.

God bless you.

Gays have the same rights as cis people to be married and for that to happen people need to learn to respect them. People who insist on hating gays are wrong and need to be re-educated, it wont happen over night but starting with the kids is a natural starting point. Typically it is the parents who teach their kids to hate others who are different. There is no possible effect of including gays in the stated sponsored sex education that it will change a person's orientation, this is a hate filled lie perpetrated by Satan. Jesus never taught hate ever.

If you insist on hating gays then take your kids out of public schooling and you can teach them yourself or find some "Jesus camp" to indoctrinate them in you ways. But in the public schools tolerance must be taught and will be taught.
it's not about hate, no Jesus didnt say to hate but he also didnt say to accept sin as normal, I'm tired of having this junk forced down peoples throats, I dont try and force someone to be a christian, why should they try to teach the kids this is right and we as Christians arent allowed to give our point of view, As a Christian I'll say it right out that gay marriage is not in Gods plan, I hope someone who is gay will ask for the truth, I dont hate them, but It's wrong and I will stand by that, you can stand up for what you believe is right and wrong without hating someone

AMEN !! I agree 100% with you. We cant change what our goverment endorces but we can keep our children safe from being desensitized from evil. I will not cave into a "go with the flow" the bible tells us we should obey the Laws of the Land privided they are not against God's principles.

On May 9, 2012, President Obama became the first sitting US president to declare his support for gay marriage

It is only a matter of time that all 50 states will be forced to accept gay marriage. Like it or not.... it is here. Thank you- Mr O.

As of May 10, 2012, gay marriage has been legalized in the following eight states: Massachusetts (May 17, 2004), Connecticut (Nov. 12, 2008), Iowa (Apr. 24. 2009), Vermont (Sep. 1, 2009), New Hampshire (Jan. 1, 2010), New York (June 24, 2011), Washington (passed Feb. 14, 2012; effective June 7, 2012), Maryland (passed Mar. 1, 2012; effective Jan. 1, 2013) and the District of Columbia (Mar. 3, 2010). [1] 31 states have constitutional amendments banning gay marriage

Oh, and by the way, could you try being a tad bit less patronizing. It takes away from any credibility: (It seems as though we are in agreement, then, at least on this point. Very good. [I was expecting a pat on the head after this sentence.])

In February 1972 the National Coalition of Gay Organizations met at the Armitage Avenue United Methodist Church in Chicago. An invitation had been sent out to 495 homosexual organizations across the U.S. to come and prepare a "gay stance for the 1972 elections."About 200 individuals from 18 states representing 85 organizations showed up for the two-day event. Conference participants adopted the 1972 Gay Rights Platform, which included 17 federal and state "demands".

The rest of what you have to say is really inconsequential. Until you relate the issue to biblcal statements, my position is the same:
As this is a Christian web site, if you wish to base your arguments on the bible, go for it.
Unfortunately, everything you have said is merely your personal opinion.

How can we be in agreement when your intitial accusation, which you did not change, is in disagreement with my statement?
Well, we are not in 100% agreement, of course. I only brought out a few specific points where we were in agreement. I think it's important to recognize where there is common ground.

Oh, and by the way, could you try being a tad bit less patronizing.
I am sorry you find my tone patronizing. This is not my intention, and I'm not sure if I can be any other way. It seems to me that what you are reading as "patronizing" is simply me trying to be agreeable.

With the exception of my sarcasm with regards to your "NAMBLA" faux pas, there was no condescension in my last post to you, and there is none in this. If you are reading it as such, I can only say I'm sorry you read it that way.

I did quote some Scripture in my last post, but here's some more for you.

Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born from God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.

i support same sex mariage 100%, times are changing, so you need to keep up. i know many homosexual people and that are the nicest people you could meet, of course their well be the bad few but thats everywhere. homosexual people didnt just wake up one morning and decide to be gay.. they were born that way, my younger brother is gay and its unreal the amount of abuse he gets from bible bashers but he keeps his head up.. he is the bigger man

It is a sin, a sin we are to run from as are all sins.

Churches, not being affiliated with the government, have the right to refuse to marry any couple they wish for any reason. Even if someone tries to sue, a Church will win, because they do not HAVE to marry anyone who asks.

A Justice of the Peace, however, is under obligation to marry any couple who applies and is legally able to wed (of age, not married already, or, in states where it's legal, are a same sex couple).

Businesses do not have the right to discriminate against any customer because of race, religion, sex, orientation, disability, etc. Could you imagine if you booked a wedding photographer, but on arrival to the destination he saw it was a Christian church and said "Sorry, I'm an atheist, I refuse to complete my assignment because I don't agree with Christianity"? You could sue him for discrimination. A business (a for profit organization) cannot discriminate against clientele based on race, religion, orientation, disability, sex, etc. People have the right to sue a business if they feel they were discriminated against based on those things.

I have never heard of "marriage" of any sort being taught in school, positively or negatively. I'm pretty sure that is just hot air.

i duno where in the bible cause i have not read it
There are no legitimate excuses, that's why I asked. It's more rhetorical, but the point is we are commanded by God to obey.
