Is it possible to turn off the 'like' button. If not, would the admin take it into consideration?
 
No, there is not. And it has already been suggested early on when it was started. So who knows if he's considered it or not.
 
why do not turn it off most of us like it and use it once in awhile...

He's talking about on an individual basis, not shutting the whole thing down. He wants to turn off his 'like' button, and only his.
