It all has to do with the history of religion, and where it derives. They are all Abrahamic religions that split off as we go forward in history. Christianity came from Judaism and are different because Christians believe Jesus was god's son, when Jews just thought him a prophet. Islam came much later, also believing Jesus to be a prophet but not the son of god, and taking Muhammad as their last prophet of god. They all derive from the same place and the same god, but the differences in other beliefs caused them to split into different religions.

Really, so you believe we worship the same God. So let me ask you this do you believe that God would contradict Himself?
The Word of God says,
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
The quran says,
019.035: It is not befitting to (the majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! when He determines a matter, He only says to it, “Be”, and it is.
019.088:They say: “(Allah) Most Gracious has begotten a son!”
019.089: Indeed ye have put forth a thing most monstrous!
019.090: At it the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split asunder, and the mountains to fall down in utter ruin,
019.091: That they should invoke a son for (Allah) Most Gracious.
019.092 : For it is not consonant with the majesty of (Allah) Most Gracious that He should beget a son.
As we can see by the above verses they clearly contradict each other.
Now I will show you another clear contradiction.
The Word of God says,
Joh 19:23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
The quran says,
004.157: That they said (in boast), “We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah”;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-
It is clearly evident by the above verses that the Word of God and the quran are not in harmony with each other so therefore they could not be inspired by the same God. So if they contradict each other Batman007 then you are saying that God is contradicting Himself by saying we believe in the same God as do the Muslims. Remember God is not the author of confusion. And how much more confusing would it be since one book says Christ was crucified and the other says he was not crucified. One books says God has a Son and the other denies God has a son.
Perhaps you should do a little research on Islam and you might be surprised at what they are actually worshipping. Don’t be deceived by those who say we (Christians) believe in the same God as the Muslims do. This is a big lie that many misinformed people are buying hook, line, and sinker.

Dude, I'm not saying that the books don't contradict themselves. Of course they do. As I said above, if the two religions said the same things then they wouldn't be two different religions. But they are. I'm not saying that the Quran was written by god. I'm not saying that Islam is the "correct" religion. I'm saying that they worship the same god.
Also, and I'm probably going to regret typing this out on here, but I'm assuming you've read the bible. What about all the contradictions in there?

Both books are said to be inspired of God. If one contradicts the other then it stands to reason that one is lying. So how can it be that it is the same God we worship?

Ok, well, let me say it this way. From a historical perspective looking in, the god is the same. The religious practices, the religious books, and the religions values vary. Still, from an outside perspective, it is the same god. I'm not sure we're going to agree here, but there it is. And their god is, too, the god of abraham and isaac and jacob. That's why they're all called Abrahamic religions.
If someone is deemed a heretic, does their God suddenly become a different god. Why do we even talk about different Gods if there is only one?
Do Catholics worship a different God to protestants?
If two baptists are in church, and one says God likes Cheese, and the other says God hates cheese and finds it an abomination, are they now worshipping 2 different gods?
I'm just trying to work out the yard stick to measure this by.
Does being a middle eastern dude that wears sandals and a robe, mean you worship a different God to a White Anglo American?
Would Jesus be strip searched at a US airport because his racial looks are closer to Osama Bin laden, than Mitt Romney?

The reason I say it's the same god is because they branch off from the same religions. It just becomes a variation. It's pretty well-known that Jews and Christians worship the same god. Jews just don't think Jesus was the son of god. That's why they're different religions. Still, they worship the same god. Muslims are the same as Jews when in comes to Christianity, in the sense that they are a religion of Abraham, originating from the same place only they have varied beliefs. They also don't think Jesus was god's son, and Muhammad is their prophet.

If you believe Jesus was the Christ, than Islam isn't compatible at all- it tells totally different stories of Jesus, Abraham, and other key figures of the Bible. Judaism may have had the same building blocks as Christianity, but if you believe that Jesus was the messiah and salvation comes through him alone, than it's a really big chapter you're leaving out. I do believe in the first amendment, and everyone should be allowed to worship as they want though.
