HELLO, People, have you forgot, ASK GOD FOR HELP. Seriously Ritter, we can give you all the advice in the World, but truly, you really do need to pray before asking a girl out, for several reasons. A. To calm you nerves down. B. Help you to say what you want to say correctly, and C. Not to make a fool of yourself when she says yes.

Small talk, get into a conversation about something light and funny. Get her name, don't offer yours because she will ask for it if she has any interest at all. Make her laugh. Tease her a bit in a playful lighthearted way. Watch her reaction to you; Is she flirting, do you have her full attention? If so just say "You're alright, We should talk again sometime" or something along those lines. Get her number and walk away.

Call her several days later. Keep the conversation fairly short, make her laugh some more, and plan something at least 3-5 days in advance. I would highly recommend silence in between dates, unless she contacts you first. Just show up at the specified venue at the specified time. Some girls will wonder about this and call/text you before the date to make sure it's still on (since most guys blow her phone up after they get her number) - Rinse and repeat.

Of course, things change if it goes into a relationship, but in the beginning stages this is the best way to do it.

Don't expect the first one to be "the one" - I went through countless women to find my keeper. But trust me, she's out there and God will lead you to her!

DON"T DO THE RED. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT wait to call her for several days. That will more then likely infuriate her, especially if she thinks you are planning on calling her quickly. OR else, she will completely forget about you altogether.

Call her several days later??? No no no, if a guy waits seversl days to call we will assume he is not interested... and silence in between dates???? This is the worst advice EVER

Don't scare the girl. On the other hand, don't be so "non-threatening" "non-aggressive" she expects to see you on CNN doing a perp walk for an unknown crime, as a soundbite from your neighbor plays where he talks about how quiet of a guy you were.

First step, don't take dating advice from women.
They don't know what they want.
They want the exact opposite of what is happening.

So if you call right away, then she'll say you seem desperate.
If you don't call right away, then she'll say you aren't interested.

It's like talking to a psychologist.
If their patient is late, they say the patient is self-centered and doesn't care about being on time.
If the patient is early, they say the patient is paranoid and needs to relax.
If he shows up on time, then the patient is obsessive.

This is why men must lead.
Even if you fall on your face while doing it, lead.

If you lead without falling on your face, be rest assured, she'll complain cuz you didn't fall on your face.

This is all said tongue in cheek.
Mostly.

The hard reality is...

It doesn't really matter how you ask a girl out. (barring complete creepiness or outright bribery)

She already knows in her heart before you even ask her if she would go out with you or not. (this applies to women you've just met too)

If she likes you it doesn't matter how awkward or embarrassing your attempt to ask her out is, she will still say yes.
And if she doesn't like you it doesn't matter how original, entertaining or well-thought out your attempt to ask her out is, she will still say no.

Ok ok there is always a chance that an extremely well thought-out and touching attempt will result in her changing her mind and saying yes, but figuring that one out certainly won't be easy...and it will probably need to be something extraordinary!

I have all of these thoughts and ideas of the perfect way to be asked out but, to be perfectly honest, this is what's truest for me. Usually it has to be someone I at least know of or is friends with other, trusted, friends. But for the most part, the approach hasn't seemed to matter in the past. Going off of previous experience of course.

Like wearing a squirrel suit, head and all, and holding up a sign that says, "I'm nuts for you" with hearts all around it?? hehe

stop looking for a girl and focus on what God wants you to do with the other areas of your life.Sometimes you meet the one God intends you to be with when you just relax and stop looking.

Make sure if you are romantically interested in the girl, she knows and doesn't think its just a friend thing. Personally I like a man who knows what he wants and is not afraid to speak up even if the answer may be no. As long as he knows there is more to a relationship than initial attraction and can be okay if we both decide its better for us to remain friends, I prefer to know what he is honestly thinking than be surprised later on.

the questions i always ask were:

do we have the same dreams and values about family and our future together?

Can I see myself with him for the rest of my life?

Would I be happier alone?

God bless and keep you in your searching. I still think that these scriptures should be a guide post:

Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

lol this made me laugh, but its kind of true. at least for the initial date. the girl has to be interested in you first and waiting a few days will allow some women to sort out their thoughts and feelings. its the mystery that sometimes draws one in and as I said before most women like leaders not followers.

the thing that annoyed me the most when I was dating was a man who wanted me to plan everything and thought he was "empowering" me. it just seem unnatural and annoying. sometimes guys just need to step up and make some choices and make the effort to plan a date ahead of time.

I guess its the practical side of me that thinks if a guy can plan ahead about something as simple as a date, perhaps he can plan ahead for a future family and may be intelligent enough to be reliable when it come to timing, money, etc. However in the end it doesn't really matter when it comes to matters of the heart, the mind does not always have much say, but it does sometimes have veto power.

if you have a motorcycle-you can ask me out. :D or at least a bicycle. i'd love to go for a night-ride.

Excuse me, but would you consider yourself a sinner for stealing my heart?

I'm so glad you added the second post. SOMETIMES an extraordinary attempt, especially one that makes us laugh, will actually get us to change our minds, but for the most part, you are spot on with the first post. I have to say that some of the most touching and successful attempts are the goofy ones. :)

Be yourself.

Be honest.
Be sincere.
Be genuine.
Be a gentleman.

OH - NEVERMIND... :(

I just remembered...

I am 50 and still single. :o

Don't listen to me. ;)

This does not work.

It never has. :p

This [apparently] is not what women want...

:)

("Alas...another failed attempt...") :(

This was intended to be humorous more than anything else. Did I "miss it" by that much?

I know it was "wrapped around a 'serious' idea"; however, that was a necessary part of what was suppose to make it funny...

Your honest impressions...???

:)

There will be girls swarming to Twilight parties all over the country this weekend. You could style your hair all spikey like, dab on a little body glitter/dark lip stain, and wear a "Team Edward" t-shirt. :D:p
